Peter and Paul, that church which has the tradition and the faith which comes down to us after having been announced to men by the apostles.
Oh ples. Almost Nobody except catholics actually believes that Peter and Paul established a catholic church.

That is why it is surely necessary to avoid them [heretics], while cherishing with the utmost diligence the things pertaining to the Church, and to lay hold of the tradition of truth
One great tradition is reading the Bible. Pass Bible reading down to the next generation.

It is needful also to make use of tradition, for not everything can be gotten from sacred Scripture.
Thats extacly what a "mans words matter too!!1!" person would say. if tradition said "fish smoke keeps away demons" would you believe it??

The holy apostles handed down some things in the scriptures, other things in tradition
Which things?? specify.

I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Even the Roman catholic religion can't prevail against it, no matter how much scripture they twist to justify their sins.

We are not Jews nor of the old creation or old covenant
Christians CANNOT FOLLOW JEWISH PRACTICES!
Funny you should mention that.
Why do catholic priests and bishop were clerical garb ?
Why do they wear such elaborate dressings at services ?
Why is there an altar in every church ?
Those are just a few of the catholic carry-overs from Judaism.

Given to...Jesus.
Not US,
Not the pope,
not the church,
it was given toJesus..
Really?

He said two things here not one

First: all authority and power are His
Second: go
So He is extending His power and authority to His apostolic church
And commanded the church to teach us!

Authority of the Apostles!

What authority does Christ have?
What power does Christ have?
What mission / ministry does Christ have?

Peter, the apostles and their successors have the same authority, power, and mission!

Jn 20:21 as my father sent me, even so send I you!

John 17:18
As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

The apostles are Christ’s successors!

They have authority to send others as well until Christ returns in glory!

apostle means one who is sent!

Therefore the apostles have authority to send more apostles or successors!

Apostolic succession!

The nations still need to be taught, disciples still need to be baptized and the church the new covenant kingdom of christ still needs to be governed!

Hebrews 3:1
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

Christ is an apostle, and has authority to send other apostles, the apostles also have this authority, so the apostles continue down thru the centuries as Christ promised! Matt 28:19-20

Keys of jurisdictional authority! Open and shut And power to bind and loose! Matt 16:18 and Matt 18:18 matt 28:19 Isa 22:21-22

Moral authority:
(Teaching)
Necessity of being taught by Christ:
Two edge sword: defining truth and condemning errors, and Interpreting scripture.

Jurisdictional authority:
(Governing / administering)
Necessity of Peter and the apostles and their successors to govern the holy church.

Spiritual authority:
(Life of Grace)
Sanctifying thru the mass and Sacraments for the forgiveness of sin.

The apostles teaching is Christ’s teaching, Christ and His church are one! Acts 9:4 eph 5:32 Jn 15:5 eph 5:24

Christian rule of faith is not the Bible alone! But the doctrine of the apostles! Acts 2:42

The canon of New Testament scripture & the public day of worship are decided by the visible apostolic church with the authority of Jesus Christ to bind and loose. Matt 16:18-19 & 28:18

Jesus Christ continues HIS ministry in His new covenant church thru Peter, the apostles, and their successors with the same mission, power, and authority!
Mt 16:18 Mt 28:19 Acts 1:17 acts 8:31 & 35 Lk 10:16 Jn 8:32 Jn 13:20 Jn 15:5 Jn 16:13 Jn 20:21-22 eph 2:20

Thanks

The apostles being mentioned were the Biblical Apostles. your case is still weak.
Matt 28:19-20
Acts 1:8
Jn 20:21
Imply apostolic succession

And dogma verifies it

142. The powers bestowed on the Apostles have descended to the bishops.

Thks

We must believe and obey both Christ and the church He founded on the apostles (Matt 16:18-19) to teach and sanctify all men unto eternal salvation! (Matt 28:19)

(Not scripture alone)
Sacred Scripture according to the churches cannon and interpretation? Yes!
Scripture alone? No!

Heb 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

“Not by scripture alone”!

That’s the nail in the coffin of “Sola scriptura” it is dead and buried, “false doctrine” the doctrine of demons like all the sola’s!

For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. Jn 1:17

Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life! Jn 14:6

And this extends to His apostolic church, Christ and His church are one and inseparable! Acts 9:4 Jn 15:5 eph 5:32 acts 2:42

Jesus Christ is the Light of the world! Jn 8:12
Apostolic church the light of the world! Matt 5:14

Must Hear Jesus Christ! Matt 17:5
Acts 3:23
Must Hear the apostolic church! Matt 18:17 1 Jn 4:6

Authority of Jesus Christ! Matt 28:17
Authority of the apostles! Jn 20:21

Jesus Christ has Reconciliation!
2 cor 5:19
Apostles have ministry of Reconciliation! 2 cor 5:18

Jesus Christ have power to forgive mens sins! Lk 5:20 Jn
Apostles have power to forgive mens sins! Jn 20:23

Jesus Christ is the truth! Jn 14:6
The apostolic church is the pillar of truth! 1 Tim 3:16

For the apostolic authority in Holy church decided and decreed (bound on earth / bound in heaven) the cannon of Scripture, and is the only authentic interpreter of scripture!

Jesus Christ before ascending to heaven gave His apostles the fullness of truth, the apostolic church our mother and teacher is commanded by Him to teach and to sanctify with her sacraments (the promise of the spirit) all men unto eternal salvation! We are commanded to believe and obey! Matt 28:19

How can the Protestant concept: “sacred scripture is the only infallible source of truth” be true? There must be some infallible source that must tell us what is the cannon of scripture & has authority to interpret scripture!

It is impossible to reject the church or her teaching without rejecting Christ who founded the church and revealed her teaching!

You cannot reject the kingdom established by the king and say I obey and submit to the king!

Oh ples. Almost Nobody except catholics actually believes that Peter and Paul established a catholic church.
No wonder you think a reformation is permissible if you think the one true church established by Jesus Christ on Peter and the apostles is not of divine origin!

Yes.
Stop making mans word equal to God's Word.
if an apostle said "you must eat snake meat to get to Heaven, but don't eat donkey meat because you will go to hell if you eat donkey meat." would you believe them??
looool.
Yes cos they have the authority of Jesus Christ! Matt 28:19 Jn 20:21

But of course they teach no such thing

But if they say your sins are forgiven; would you believe them?

You are right, and I rejoice in the fact that after leaving catholicism, God showed the one true church to me.
One great tradition is reading the Bible. Pass Bible reading down to the next generation.
That’s fine but it still does give us the ability to determine doctrine and the Christian faith!

The Christian faith is revealed by Christ to his church with the command to teach all men! Matt 28:19 Jude 1:3
Thks

Disagree.
ALL Scripture is good for teaching and reproof.
Scripture yes!
Scripture alone no!

The church was taught of Christ in person for three years!
Christ founded a church the household of faith not a publishing house!

We must believe and obey both Christ and the church He founded on the apostles (Matt 16:18-19) to teach and sanctify all men unto eternal salvation! (Matt 28:19)

If you mean "body of believers" then yes.

Moses was a believer. He was credited with writing the 1st 5 Books of the Bible.
The church of hierarchical jurisdictional authority not a spiritual only unity!

The visible apostolic authority existed before the New Testament was written.
Exercised authority and taught the word before the New Testament was written.
Not only wrote the New Testament but decided the New Testament cannon.
