Bible Study Scripture required?

God is not about a man's religion nor does He recognize any organized religion whether it's Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran, UCC, The Kingdom Hall, LDS or whatever name one wants to give to their religion. This is why there are over 5000 different religions in the world as man walks after their own doctrines neglecting the true doctrines of Christ for what He has already taught and inspired the Apostles to write in their letters to the true Church of Christ being the body of Christ with He being the head of the body.
The true doctrine is only found in scripture? Correct?

The Scriptures themselves bear evidence to man's influence.

Paul had to write to the church in Corinth for straying from the truth.
Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all [d]speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you. Now I say this, that each of you says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas,” or “I am of Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, lest anyone should say that I had baptized in my own name. Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas. Besides, I do not know whether I baptized any other. For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.
1 Corinthians 1:10-17 NKJV

Paul also had to do the same to the church in Galatia.
I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.
Galatians 1:6-7 NKJV

Even Peter strayed and Paul had to admonish him.
Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed; for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision. And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy. But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, “If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews?
Galatians 2:11-14 NKJV
The apostles are in union with Peter who is in union with Christ with the guarantee of the spirit!

Those outside the new covenant church are in error

Eph 2:11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
Eph 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
Eph 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
Eph 2:14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
Eph 2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
Eph 2:17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
Eph 2:18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
Eph 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
Eph 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
Eph 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
Eph 2:22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

We are not built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets alone, but by that which God gave the apostles and prophets to write that are the words that Christ taught them first and inspired them to write these letters to all that form the body of Christ with Christ Jesus being the head/foundation of our faith in Him by God's grace.
Sacred scripture and the apostles?

So you don’t believe “scripture alone”? Or “scripture is the only authority”?

Hi donadams

After reading through several of the posts, I'm sure you're not going to agree with this, but...

There is nothing that we know that we know about Jesus that didn't come from the Scriptures. Nothing!!!

Tell me, what does your 'apostolic' church teach you that isn't written in the Scriptures about Jesus?

God bless,
Ted

From the apostolic church which still teaches what it always taught even before it wrote the New Testament

No such thing as "the apostolic church" in scripture.

That is a man made term to prop up man made doctrine.

There is The Church.

Jesus' church; The body of Christ

And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. Matthew 16:18

These things I write to you, though I hope to come to you shortly; but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifested in the flesh,
Justified in the Spirit,
Seen by angels,
Preached among the Gentiles,
Believed on in the world,
Received up in glory. 1 Timothy 3:14-16

Hi again donadams

I must admit to being as perplexed as JLB seems to be with this term that you seem enamored of, 'apostolic church'. Can you define that is some way. Is it the actual church that Mark started in Corinth? And must we all go worship in Corinth for the rest of our lives if we want to somehow garner points with God because we attended one of His 'apostolic churches'?

Or is the apostolic church merely the fellowships that have sprung up across the world, as they did in those days, where the people so gathered profess a faith in the Son of God as their Savior? If that's the case, then I do attend an apostolic church. Although personally I prefer the word 'fellowship' when defining a small sub-set of the apostolic church (or just church).

God bless,
Ted

Please read verse 20 more carefully. Do you not know what it means for Christ to be the Chief Cornerstone?
But not the foundation.
Cornerstone sits on the foundation.
Christ is the rock of our salvation but not the rock upon which he builds his church.
Thks

This doesn't deal with anything I pointed out. It just contradicts, ignores and parrots R.C. doctrine. This is not at all a persuasive or thoughtful response to my post.
Christ, the Son of God, was the corner stone.
Everything else was laid out with Jesus as the base.
No the cornerstone rests on the foundation

Yes his church founded in the apostles that would make it “apostolic”!

The church founded by Christ on the apostles, that would make it apostolic!

Right. So you think we should all fly to Cypress to go to church on Sunday? I might enjoy a day in a church begun by the apostles in Turkey somewhere.

Next question: Where did the apostles found a church? I know that Jesus writes to seven, but I think a lot of those may have been started by Paul. Is he included in your 'worthy apostles' list?

God bless,
Ted

The 66 writings of the book that we today call the bible. And no, I'm not including any of the others in question. I think the 66 books do a complete enough job that extra reading isn't required. I haven't had anyone prove to me yet that there's some new teaching in some other set of writings that is assured to be in keeping with God's word.

God bless,
Ted

The Church By Christ Jesus (Eph 3:21) was around.
Too easy of an answer Hopeful.

Did you ever notice that Jesus did not write any books giving us instruction?
This is because He didn't come to set up a bunch of rules like Muhammad did, but to begin a new Kingdom.
The Kingdom of God on earth.

As is clearly plain to see in the Great Commission, Jesus meant for His Apostles to "create" this new Kingdom.
Which turned out to be a new church - the Christian church.

He trained them for over 3 years and then sent them on their way.

It required humans to go and preach the good news and to teach humanity how to save itself.

Tracing back, I believe that, not only I, but history can show that the CC is the original church.

Hi donadams

I contend that you don't really understand 'what' the church is. The 'ecclesia' is merely the people who have been called out by God to have faith in His Son. It isn't any formal body of buildings or some hierarchy of ministerial positions. Anywhere that a group of believers gather together, they form a body of such believers that we call 'the church'. The apostles, and those with Paul on his journeys, started creating groups of believers as they traveled from city to city. That body of believers was the 'church' in that city or area. The truth is that the apostles started a lot of fellowship groups in a lot of cities, thus, by such a definition of the 'ecclesia', they began a lot of small churches in a lot of small and some larger towns and cities.

God bless,
Ted

The true doctrine is only found in scripture? Correct?
Correct, as true scripture are the pure doctrines of Christ in which the anointed Apostles have witnessed, testified of and wrote down for God's true Church, being the body of Christ, not some denomination/non-denomination which like to add to and take away from the word of God. We learn from the Holy Spirit who works through those who have been called and anointed, not man apart from the anointing of the Holy Spirit as it's only by the Holy Spirit who teaches us all God wants us to learn.
