Secular Music - Is it a Sin?

ok now i did some research behind the song judas and its not literally judas the betrayer of Jesus but was a metaphor. its a lot to explain but the end results was the term judas is used to describes something that shes into, she knows its wrong tries to resist but keeps falling back into to. it kinda comes like us christians today, some have drinking problems, they know its wrong, they try to stop but keeps falling to them alchol is their judas. thats what the song is realy about. now as for the video bad romance i didnt get it so much but i kinda liked the song

first off SHE didn't write the song. its just entertainment to get people to listen. either way its still mockery.

if I took the HOLY Name of jesus and bashed it here in this form of mockery as an atheist I would get what? banned or infracted. as a moderator in the past here in the sight we got nuts that did post videos like this.i have a friend who wouldn't tolerate men and women who say jesus! that's wrong. he says that is wrong what does jesus have to do with that. to him that is mockery. im sure you say Jesus Christ in church in a derogatory way.

sir, I am a porn addict, I know all about wanting to stop a sin and I cant. that is nothing of that sort. she or whomever choose to use biblical imagery to make money that is all that is. she is also is pro gay rights. funny one there. remember that song "born that way"im keen on discerning sources of music and what the imagery means. can I be wrong? yes but I have listend to these songs. when I first heard the half of it was tempted to say this songs isn't bad but so I looked what she said then when I heard it again I know what she means. its just a money maker for her. that is why I seldom listen to any secular music. yes I hear it work, at home as my wife does listen. but in my truck I wont play that.!

stop defending this sinner.she is what she is. would you then listen to this in sunday school and use it a sermon? if yes then justify?

watch the video that is all, in it she rides with judas who has the image of what? who were the crown of thorns? jesus or judas?
hardly she is well into this. its entertainment. don't make it ok.

I know you are young but when you have a child or god leads you from that filth of today and well as he did me years ago. you will see what it is. if they could they would go worse. trust me I have heard far worse.
 
i've seen the video and i taught the guy in the crown of thorns was judas but hes not, remember there was another guy in sunglasses? that was Judas, the guy in the crown of thorns who she was riding with was Jesus and she was Mary Magdeline and as were on the video remember the scene when she had the gun and had to kill Judas but couldnt and ends up putting lipstick on him to "beatuify " him but it was ugly? same how when many ppl have their weakness and have the choice to shoot it down, its too hard for them so they started to make excuses "beautify" it. i'm sure when you fall wether its porn or something else you do or used to make up an excuse not so? well thats the illustration she tried to put across in the video
 
I am an avid fan of rock and heavy metal music and have had to deal with other Christians giving me flack about it, so I could go on forever about this subject.

As for me personally, I don't believe in christian or secular "music". I believe in christian or secular LYRICS. And though some secular lyrics are bad, I don't believe all secular lyrics are (unless you think it' sinful for little kids to listen to "twinkle twinkle little star"). For example; the song "Arms Wide Open" by Creed is about the joys of becoming a father for the first time. I don't find anything wrong with a musician writing a song about his son and the joys of being a loving father to him.

I agree that it's the lyrics that are the main thing.

To reinforce clearly Biblical lyrics with real, quality hard rock can send a strong and effective testimony, I think, that communicates well.

Two of the Skillet band are women, Jen and Corey: they seem like dedicated Christian rock musicians that know their artistic aims.

Both of the kids like Skillet and they're Ok... My musical tastes are all over the place and that includes hard rock and metal... even secular hard rock and metal. The kids are free to listen to whatever they like... as long as the lyrics aren't blasphemous or overtly sexual. I guided what they listened to a lot more closely, but now that they'r both teenagers, it's time for them to filter what they listen to.

Yeah dont think all secular music is bad there is definately some I dont feel comfortable with anymore(i.e. too sexual,talking about bad things in the lyrics) .I mostly only listen to christian rock and metal ,steampunk and gothic christian.This means alot to me to say this ,I read this book called"God loves the freaks" when i was 25 and it changed my life and how I viewed God loving me.According to my family the things I liked and the way i was it wasnt possible for God to really love me,accept me and after reading that book Ive just never been happier to be me.God has used songs to get my attention that were not christian but were not negative for example I was having a really tense day I was driving to work and I knew when i got there I was going to have to make a decision about whether to accept a promotion or not because the position was so stressful and this was when i was having 20 plus panic attacks a day so i was very conflicted ,i kept flipping through channels and suddenly felt complete peace and felt God telling me to listen ,the song was " the middle" by jimmy eat world.I love the lyrics"it just take some time little girl your in the middle of the ride,everything everything will be allright,you just do your best do everything you can and dont you worry what the bitter hearts are gonna say".I did take that position I did do my best but over 2 months my attacks went up so i spoke with them and them let me have my old position back and all this in peace because God reminded me he was with me and i could just do my best and everything would be ok.Um ok thats my little story lol.

Sometimes soothing tunes rather than hard rock can be calming. Especially when we are thinking about truths from the Bible.
 
yes I do that farouk and also listen to classical music and new agey /spa type music the spa channel on xm is another one of my favs,i really like stuff with flutes in it
