She headshaved for charity. (Would you, too?)

Would you be prepared to shave your head for a favorite charity?

J: Okay thanks for clearing your Inbox... :)

I see your mugshot. (Whether or not earrings are visible - not sure - is maybe for another thread, or another pm...)

But seems like you would get along well if you liked a particular charity enough to go for a sponsored headshave.

i cant have piercings like that as its against army regs when in uniform. and why would I?

i grapple alot so i would have to take them off and also getting a job looking like a freak(no offense to those that do this) will ensure you remain unemployed here in my hometown.

i have a friend who worked for tire kingdom and was a salesman and was fired for his tats and piercings.

I see...

But if you were in a secure job with a friendly boss, for example, would you maybe consider them a bit more?

(I'm sure there isn't a dress code saying, No headshaves, anyway... :) )

no, i did the left ear piercing and also was bi then, even when i did do that i wasnt with a man.

when i got saved i put that part to death.

i'm bald by choice as its cheap and convient for me to do so.

few barbers here know the amry regs on haircuts and often monkey up a flat top and charge 13 bucks for it.

for about 20 minutes today i did the job you see in that pic and its cost me 50 bucks for that shaver.

What does shaving ones head do for any charity? One does not need to shave their head to give hair to those who make wigs.

We have some strange ideas about what makes us feel like we are doing SOMETHING.

Stepping out and mowing a lawn or shoveling snow and giving what was earned to charity or just do it for some folks who cant for free!

Just cant believe there isn't something benifical to charity then shaving ones head.

PS: reba:

I guess I agree, yes.

It's what's done from the heart that counts.

Nooo I like my hair :o however if it got abit longer I wouldn't mind donating 6 inches or so it might not be any good tho because the bottom 2 inches of my hair are dyed, I read about it and they only take unprocessed hair.

I also would like to donate blood however the red cross appear to wet themselves and spaz out to the question "Is someone like me allowed to give blood?"

Because I've never had sex They give different answers every time I ask the question there justifications vary each time too ¬.¬ So I can't be bothered to deal with them I'm not altruistic enough to endure that babbling madness.

Are you still in the army?

Presumably if the earrings can be removed, it's okay to have ear piercings.

Some of the army barbers give almost what amounts to a headshave anyway. (It seems that women recruits are more 'let off the hook', though, when it comes to 'regulation' haircuts...)

No national guard. and women have different standards, the ladies arent mandated to have butch haircuts such as that one that movie with demi moore was in.

they cant in uniform wear earings if i recall.

I wonder why Demi Moore was portrayed with the butch, when it's not necessary for women according to the regulations?

I don't remember whether she wore earrings with that haircut.

simple the idiotic men and women can do the same despite what the laws of nature say.

So in the National Guard, you mean the regulations are the same for earrings, but not for haircuts? (and what about tattoos, if you know?)

tats cant be seen in general if they are done while in service, and they have to be able to covered by the acu uniform and i can take pay if they get them and cant perform their duty.(that is rare, but if they have a range the next day and they get one and cant fire then i can punish them)

also all regs from the da, dod do apply to the guard.

we dont fall under ucmj unless title 10, but fcmj(the state version).

So I guess it's a case of, Keep them covered if you already got them, equally for men and women?

I think it would be great to get back to the OP - which was about shaving heads - not about tattoos (again) or piercing (again). It's an interesting topic on its own. Many kids did it in our kids' school, not for charity, but to show support for a schoolmate who went through chemo. Loosely tied to charity (of the heart), this was very inspiring to witness. Another particular one was tied in with a charity, because the kids collected donations and sponsors who agreed to X amount if they did it. This is just one way of being empathetic to others' plights while collecting donations. As long as someone doesn't get prideful for what they were willing to do and where a bald head as a badge of some sort, I think it's a great idea.

I would do it if, like Jason, I didn't do it on a regular basis anyway.

i cant donate hair, they dont take grey hairs!

j:

I see. Lots of ladies seem to like to have it cut the way you describe anyway. (In process, help a charity, too...)

my wife didnt, she cut her because it was causing headaches. the stylist asked her about that donation program and she decided to do it.
