It's very easy to sit and ponder how one must refrain from fighting and that peace is the only answer. War is horrible, but sometimes we must fight. The way I see it there are thee kinds of people sheep, sheepdogs and wolves, The Lord is our shepherd. Sheep are relatively peaceful and harmless but would most likely fight at a last resort. Sheepdogs are our military and police, security, Firefighters, EMS etc. that face danger that sometimes it carries has a cost to the sheepdog. Wolves are our criminals, murders, thieves etc that prey on the sheep. Theres nothing wrong necessarily with being a sheep, everyone has a calling in life some are doctors, some are carpenters and scientists etc, but some are protectors like police, soldiers and firefighters.

A question to the pacifist, A man approaches your loved one and physically attacks them. Theres nobody around but you, your loved one and the attacker. The assault is so bad you fear that death could be imminent. What do you do?

That's really a loaded question in my opinion. I don't like war. War sucks. But I won't let somebody take what I have or what's been given to me for safe keeping without a fight. I also won't stand around and watch a bully mis treat a weaker person. I will fight for those who cannot. I will fight for my beliefs if I am forced to.

StoveBolts, lets take for instance that X is completely a Christian country (no Muslim) and also Y is another (no muslim)...and a misunderstanding arrises between the two countries.

Z is somewhere watching. Z is a muslim country

1. Will you go to war against Christian country Y??

2. You are about to use up your ammo, and Z is willing to sell, would you buy from Z to finish up the war?

for everyone, how much different is physical combat (country vs country)from marrital/family combat (husband vs wife or parents vs children, or ppl of the same faith vs ppl of the same faith)? This is a serious war, right?

Someone should emerge a winner, right? If we can justify physical war...should we also justify the one we experience regualrly at home? War is war.

If X should win and war is justified then the husband/wife or children should also win - so that family wars should also be justified.

each case can be different.... i believe some wars are just... some reasons for war is just some are not...

Well Willie, I am quite disgusted with the stones throwers who say that Christians have no place in government especially the military. These same people slept soundly in their beds because of such Christians who payed the ultimate sacrifice on the battlefield and on our troubled streets protecting us from murders and warmongers. John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." I believe the Christian soldiers such in D-Day and many battles alike that fought for justice have a special place in heaven.

I never feed into the Christian vs Muslim thing. I love my enemy, but it doesn't mean I have to be a doormat. When Jesus ran the people away who were disgracing God's temple was he being a doormat? He again will return and raise an army and not become a doormat to be walked upon.
People who behead the innocent and rage war against the innocent will pay with a price, the Lord affirmed this through Paul in Romans when he said that governments do not bear the sword no reason! Classik, I find your quote in your signature intriguing how does such a husband and wife die for eachother when they are willing?

Actually Gary, that is a question: It means, how would Christ feel (the blood shed for these people being killed) when these people are killed during wars...is Christ happy about that?

So should Christians join the military, and if already in would we have a right to refuse to go to war. Same thing with the cops, they are at war on the streets, do they have a right to kill if they are Christian cops, same principle as war. Muhammed Ali refused war in the name of his faith.
