Sheep? Coin? Son?

Jesus seeks the lost. We are joined into His ministry.

If this is up to us and our way of thinking why stop at jail and criminal proceedings? When we see another who is trapped in sin shall we not put the sinner to death? That is the penalty for sin, all sin. All sin. My sin. The rock thrown is mine by right also. It is God that I have sinned against and I have also sinned against myself. Shall I forget what I have seen my own hands do?

Seems teaching God's Word has ebbs and flows like everything else.... We have been taught and taught GRACE His wonderful Grace..Maybe we need to teach a response to the grace as obedience to the laws... If we honor the teachings of Christ, His law/commandment adultery etc within the church would not be a problem...
Joh 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
Seems the Church stops at grace.
Most every time i got a spanking (I was the stinker kid of the 5) mom would quote the highlighted part of this verse...
Num 32:23 But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.

I see this as God's grace.

Just hold on there' why are you putting my past life back up to the present. I still see Christians who were like me' go to church on Sunday and live like devils on Monday through Saturday, I lived that life style so I understand it. I still see it around me sometimes' but why are you calling me defeated.
Lewis,
You are allowing everyone to see defeat because your words, simply reek with it. We have all been discussing folks that live like the Devil six days a week, the problem is that is, tremendously, easier to do than to attempt to live a holy life. Not one of us has said to you that it is possible to live the holy life but instead that we are commanded to seek to live that way. Your replies have consistently been the replies of the defeated man.

Neither I nor any other Human is qualified to determine your Spiritual condition but every one of us, including yourself, is command to judge your fruit and the spiritual aroma is less than sweet. The active follower of Jesus might stumble but they are never defeated and begin to plan to sin. And yet, before I ever, as a Lost Man, got into bed or the back seat I was planning that sin. The same is true of any man or any woman, claiming Christ for their own, but crawling into the wrong bed and once more I will tell you that the follower of Christ, a saved person, does not plan to sin.

I can stumble and curse, I remember all of those words and how to spit them at people but I can not stumble into, say the bed of a 20 twenty year old blond vixen. At some point before I would have gotten ther I had to begin to plan the sin unless she raped me and that is not likely for either one of us. The professing Christian that is planning to sin needs to read all of their Bible and pay particular attention to the Matthew passage afore noted.

May God bless and grow you strong like a fortress tower.

My Granny quoted that portion of that verse to me when I would protest being caught. Your family must be a good deal like the Schoenberg clan, here in Texas.

I live in The Bible Belt, USA. Around here, some states still have "alienation of affection" laws, or they did until recently. So, if you're married, and your spouse (usually the husband) starts spending time and money on someone else, you can sue the other person.

Also, a lot of states--mine included--still have the old divorce laws on the books. So, you can get divorced no-fault style, which usually means 1 year separation and the goal is "equitable distribution," or you can use the fault laws. Fault here includes adultery--IF you can prove it, IF you can have a good attorney, and IF you haven't also committed adultery. Kinda tricky, sometimes. But, the cool thing (I guess...) is that fault divorces move along faster. So, instead of taking over 1 year, an uncontested (that's key--uncontested) fault divorce could take 3 months or so, and the innocent party (usually the wife) can receive alimony, more property, etc.

One of my friends in HS, her mom's attorney used fault divorce to end her marriage to her husband (my friend's father). It was done in a few months, no big thing. I think every state should either keep or bring back the fault divorce laws as instead of having everybody going "no fault," as if ALL marriages that end in divorce end through no fault of either party.

Anyway...I guess I'm saying that adultery may not result in criminal penalties, but there are plenty of places where adultery can result in financial penalties. Of course, that assumes the married couple has enough property and what not for fault to even be an issue.

Adultery punishment in the Bible's Old and New Testaments

Lewis,
I am hard put to believe you posted an Islamic link to justify Adultry. They also, in a number of the Arab countries belive that women are for heirs and young boys are for pleasure. You will think this rude but I am going to logically, according to the world we live in, extend this and in doing so, then, since Jesus didn't teach on anti-homosexuality, it is good for a man to do that... wrong!

Lewis, the Christian Old Testament, the Jewish Bible is the Bible Jesus taught from and commented on. Now, here comes the difficult and it can be the slippery part. The first thirty-nine books of the Christian version of the Bible is the Bible and the remaining twenty-seven are the only God authorized Life Style Commentary on the Bible He commissioned to be written.

You have got to remember that the Old Testament in your Bible, if you are a God fearing Christian, is also the words of Jesus, just as much so as the red letter script is in most versions. The words in the New Testament of Jesus and the words of the thirteen books by Paul and the words in all the rest of the books are from jesus... so is every word of the Old Testament. (John 1:1-3) When Jesus, John, Paul and all the other New Testament writers commented, they commented on the Bible they had grown up with and their comments were on how to apply it.

When a man sleeps with another man's wife, she has another husband and if he is married, he has another wife, if he was not married before he is after the adultery. Jesus, the Creator, created Eve and He presented her to Adam and they lay down together and they were married.

When Isaac saw his future bride go in to His mother's tent, he went into her and they were married. When Jacob/Israel had drank the wine, he went into his bed and he slept with Leah and they were married. The license4 so many are thrilled with is a tax and God does not tax anyone. We have pushed God out of our lives to some extent in every facet of our lives and we must overcome that nasty habit.

I should have said I have seen some of that. not all of the muslim that I knew did it but It was there. when a culture has four words for boy lover of a pedophile its kind a makes one wonder.

Don't get me wrong, I do understand that from any lie, all the way through any mass murder of children that, in some manor, profits the Jihad all Muslims must either financially support of take part in is condoned by Allah but! Just as there are a minority of the Christian Church Universal that are Good People, so it true of all sects of the Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus and so on. I know there are Muslims that never married an eight year old and slept with her when she was nine but I have yet to find any that will condemn Mohamed for being a Pedophile. I'm even certain that there are a great number that have never defiled a young boy but it is there and it is not looked down upon by, far, to many.

your observation is what I have seen. the government doesn't tell us soldiers that this even goes on. the only reason I know is from what the words they called me. I was called that a few times. so I asked.

Yes I agree with Bill ,unless their are exeptional reasons acceptable to God through His Son's command ,I cant think of any way to bend Matthew 19:9 " I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, exept for marital unfaithfulness , and marries another woman commits adultry."

I dealt with some of the Turks in the sixties, they are a mess, just as is the Church Universal. Trouble is none of us will fess up.
