Sound track to your life

If you could pick any 3 songs that describe your life, what would they be and why? I'll kick us off;

Heart of Gold by Force and Styles - quite simply the greatest hardcore rave track ever. I remember when I first heard this live at an event; every raver to a person had hands in the air and we were one.

Their Law by The Prodigy - this is to reflect when I turned my back on God and went it alone. In many ways this is when I discovered who want it meant to be me.

Happy days by Tim Hughes - it really is happy days now I have Christ back in my life, he has washed my sin away!!!

'Perverse and foolish oft I strayed,
But yet in love He sought,
And on His shoulder gently laid,
And home rejoicing brought me.'

(One of them, anyway, I guess.)

More Than Useless, by Relient K--Kinda about my insecurities. Sometimes I think I'm just some hopeless person that can't do anything right; but I am reminded that that's not how God sees me.
Buried Beneath, by Red--I'd say this song could describe a part of my past where I had kinda turned my back on God getting unhealthily obsessed with something else, and ended up depressed. It's in the past and I'm definitely over it now, but it's something that I won't be forgetting.
Somewhere in the Middle, by Casting Crowns--"the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."~Matthews 26:41 b KJV

Yes, a lot of Christians really like Casting Crowns, don't they?

Blessings.

Yeah.
I know that I tend to like music with lyrics that I can relate to. As a Christian, songs about living as a Christian are very relate-able. Plus sometimes God uses them to encourage you.

A Therapy for Pain: by Fear Factory from the period in my life when I thought suicide was the best option for me. Even now it's still a very moving song with a good message.
Resurrection: another Fear Factory song about getting a second chance and new beginnings obviously.
Alive : by POD because it sums up how I feel these days since truly accepting Him as my Lord, God and Saviour.
All three are on my workout playlist. :)
Nice thread topic.

Amazing Grace - especially done by Bagpipes
Let The Fire Fall by Carmen
Not For Sale by Michael Combs

Not For Sale

Verse 1

What happened to that Preacher, Who used to Preach so strong.
What happened to that singer,Who used to sing our song.
The Preacher's out selling Amway, That singer's now singing country.
They sold out what is right for what is wrong.

Verse 2

What happened to the church, That used to be on fire.
What happened to the voices, That sang in the heavenly choir.
Oh, The Church has now grown dead and cold,
The choir is silent, Cause nobody goes.
They sold out to the world and their own desires (Listen To Me)

Chorus

This heart belongs to Jesus, Cause he saved my soul from Hell.
This heart belongs to Jesus, This heart is not for sale.
Not for sale, Not for sale, No way no sir.

Verse 3

Well a man from California, Called a few months ago.
He said boy with your talent , We can make a lot of dough.
I said thanks for the offer it all sounds swell.
But I belong to Jesus, And I'm just not for sale.
Not for sale, I'm not for sale, No way no sir.

Verse 4

Well, If you're living for Jesus,Friend, They'll come a day.
That old Devil's gonna try to get you some way.
He'll try you, And temp you, with his lies straight from hell.
Just say I belong to Jesus, And Devil I'm not for sale
Not for sale, Not for sale, No way no sir.

Verse 5

I belong to the Lamb Of God,
He purchased me with his precious Blood,
I don't need popularity, I'd rather have what he gave to me.
I belong to the King of Kings,
He's my hope,He's my joy, He's my everything.
I belong to the Lord God Almighty,
I belong to the one who gave his life for me.

Verse6

I belong to the Lamb Of God,
He purchased me with his precious Blood,
I don't need popularity, I'd rather have what he gave to me.
Some sold conviction's for compromise,
Some have sold the truth for a pack of lies.
Some have sold Testimonies for fortune and fame.
I just want to Glorify and Magnify his name

Chorus 2

This heart belongs to Jesus, He saved my soul from Hell.
This heart belongs to Jesus, Oh this heart is not for sale.
Not for sale, Not for sale, No way no sir.
Not for sale, I'm Not for sale,
I'm not for sale, No way no sir, I'm Not for sale,

Some thought-provoking words, there.

The Christian life and testimony is a refining process. I'm reminded of abiding in the vine, as in John 15, and of Malachi, about the refiner's fire.

Blessings.

Amen farouk. This song, Not For Sale, is so real to my own life experiences and that's why it speaks to me. I usually cry every time I hear it as to what has happen to many Churches today and had to quit playing it in my car as I am always taken away in the Spirit when I listen to the words.

Calvin Coolidge said: 'The business of America is business.'

The business of the church is testimony. Not business. 'Not for sale', indeed.

Early in the Cold War, with the threat of Communism, press tycoon Randolph Hearst and Henry Luce, head of Times Life, and financier Bernard Baruch all wanted to promote some kind of spiritualized symbol of old time America. As a symbol, it needed to have wide appeal; it would need to leave big business pretty intact, and doctrinally it ought not to upset anyone too much.

Their solution was Billy Graham.

'Creating', backing, or otherwise supporting Billy Graham didn't in some ways work out exactly as they wanted, but for the most part it worked.

Evangelicals in the Billy Graham mold tend to be pretty comfortable with big business.

'Not for sale'?

Haunted by Disturbed.
That's been my anthem for several years now. I love how that song describes feeling like an alien in a hostile world of emotional vampires, so-called "friends" who need to make me miserable and feed on my pain in order to feel good about themselves, leaving me with a choice between loneliness or being abused. It seems to me almost all humans are that kind of vampires.
So I feel very well understood by that song and have taken great comfort from it over the years.
I know that's kinda dark and not very christian of me, but why should I lie...

Claudya, never feel guilty about telling the truth. I have to agree there are a lot of "vampires" in the world. That's a more polite way of saying what I call them..."oxygen thieves".
Disturbed , great band. David Draiman has one of the most powerful voices in the rock industry.
Interesting fact if you didn't know it, Disturbed was featured on the soundtrack of the movie "Queen of the Damned" about you guessed it...vampires.
Blessings

So true and sad as many Pastors have sold their own souls for that of the almighty dollar being their God. We really need to keep praying for those who commitment was strong in the beginning, but left their first estate.

Well, exactly. The emphasis of what I said was not meant to be mean-spirited, but instead for an examination of one's motives.

Blessings.

Grace by The Devin Townsend Project. Its a very moving song that is emotionally moving and takes the basic ideals that I think most of us can agree on and highlights them.

Set Fire to the Rain by Adele (who am I kidding, that entire album is amazing) Because I think it addresses the truest feelings of a breakup better then most sappy break up songs and I also heard this album entirely for the first time the weekend my Grandma died.

Ocean by King's X Just so relaxing and soothing something I really identify with right now.
