Tasted Death for every Man !

Then you can't believe that earthly Israel is God's nation. If you do, then you contradict yourself because that would not by Christ but by earthly Israel. You can't have it both ways.

I believe in God's promises to natural Israel, that will be fulfilled in the Millennial Kingdom, just as God prophesied, and I believe the promises that God made to all people by the Gospel of the New Covenant.

The OT saints (those who walked with God by faith) were accredited righteousness, reserved onto God until the Messiah would come to save them from all sins.

Therefore, the OT saints were not eternally saved until Lord Jesus first paid for their sins in the New Covenant (Hebrews 9:15; Romans 3:25-26).

Romans 3:25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26 he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

Hebrews 9:15 For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

The OT saints believed because they did not resist the Spirit (Acts 7:51); but, the regeneration of the indwelling Spirit (the outpouring of God’s Spirit on those who believe: John 7:38-39) did not occur until the New Covenant, paid for by Christ (John 3:14-18). The Promise of Life by the indwelling Spirit is for the New Covenant, and is only for those who believe first (John 7:38-39).

Your whole argument and doctrine rests upon "Ephesians 2:8-10," because in "John 6:29," Lord Jesus is not teaching anything about faith being a work.

Nowhere in Scripture is faith ever taught to be a work.
But you go ahead now and believe that faith is a work. That is your choice and free will.

In addition, no Passage of Scripture in the entire Bible does it ever teach that God gives faith to anyone to be saved. Your assumption that God gives us our faith to be saved is false. You are adding your own doctrine to the Scriptures.

However, even in "Ephesians 2:8-10," faith is not the work; rather, those of faith were created in Christ for good works.

As well, in "Ephesians 2:8-9," faith is not the gift of God, but rather, the grace of salvation is the gift because "gift" is neuter singular just like the verbal concept "by grace you are saved." They both must match in grammar (neuter singular) - the "gift" (neuter singular) refers back to the verbal concept "by grace you are saved" (neuter singular) and the pronoun "this is" is also (neuter singular). Notice that they all three match, being "neuter singular."

In Ephesians 2:8-9, the grace is the indirect object for salvation in "you are saved."

We receive that grace of salvation by faith (feminine genitive noun showing possession of the grace of salvation) - the faith that can only result in good works (Ephesians 2:10), because faith is not a work.

Faith is not part of the grace of salvation that is received by faith because faith modifies the grace of salvation, showing possession of it.
In addition, faith is not part of the grace of salvation because, "by grace you are saved" is a neuter verbal concept taken from Chapter 7 and forwarded to Chapter 8 for further discussion. Faith is added later showing possession of the verbal concept "by grace you are saved."

Ephesians 2:8-9 (WEB) 8 for by grace you have been saved (neuter verbal concept - the subject) through faith (noun Genitive Singular, showing possession of salvation) and that not of yourselves; it is (neuter pronoun phrase referring to the neuter singular verbal concept "by grace you are saved" which is the gift of God (neuter, singular), because it matches the grammar of the verbal concept, being neuter singular), 9 not of works, that no one would boast.

To summarize:

***"Grace" is a feminine noun acting as an indirect object for the subject/verbal concept " by grace you have been saved."
***"Faith" is a feminine noun genitive, showing possession of the verbal concept "by grace you have been saved."
***"By grace you have been saved" is a singular verbal concept, taken from the previous chapter 7, and so is neuter by default.
***"Not of yourselves, it is" is a singular neuter pronoun phrase because it is referring back to the singular neuter verbal concept "By grace you are saved."
***"Not of yourselves, it is"
is also is genitive, and so can only refer back to the neuter verbal concept {{{"by grace you have been saved."}}}
***
"The gift" is a neuter singular noun, and so refers back to what that gift is, which is the neuter singular subject {{{"by grace you have been saved."}}}. They must match in grammar because "the gift" is referring back to the subject, which is "By grace you are saved."

Consequently, "by grace you have been saved" is also the only subject in Ephesians 2:8-9. And a pronoun can only refer back the closest subject noun or verbal concept, because the verbal concept acts in place of a subject noun when a subject noun does not exist in the sentence, which is the case in "Ephesians 2:8-9."

You repeat your "Lord Jesus is not teaching anything about faith being a work" John 6:29 deception again because Lord Jesus Christ in absolutely certain terms declares that a Christian's faith/belief is the work of God (John 6:29). The King of Glory says:

This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent
(John 6:29)

Christians do not reject the sayings of Christ, and this Truth (John 14:6) includes John 6:29, yet your heart's treasure (Matthew 15:16-19) rejects Christ's sayings of which Christ says about Christ's sayings that "He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day" (John 12:48).

You repeat another of your lies that "Nowhere in Scripture is faith ever taught to be a work" because Lord Jesus teaches that faith is the work of God (John 6:29), and the Word of God here "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent" (John 6:29) is enough to stand as absolute Truth (John 14:6) without any other citations, yet the Word of God wonderfully says "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life" (John 6:47), BUT YOUR WRITINGS MAKE IT CLEAR THAT THE WORD OF GOD DOES NOT MATTER TO YOU.

By the way, when you wrote "no Passage of Scripture in the entire Bible does it ever teach that God gives faith to anyone to be saved" even further down in your post after John 6:29 was proclaimed to you, then, in that very moment, you executed against the word of God your "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent" (John 6:29); in other words, your heart adulterates the Word of God.

Let's do talk about the Ephesians 2:8-10!

Christ's words recorded in John 6:29 are not dependent upon Ephesians 2:8-10.

Paul's writing in Ephesians 2:8-10 is in accord with Christ's words recorded in John 6:29, so Paul's writing is dependent upon the Word of God.

In Ephesians 2:10, Paul wrote "we are His work", so we Christians are the work of God (see John 6:29) which includes our faith/belief - we are God's exclusively by God's grace for God's glory - PRAISE BE TO GOD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST!

Let's dig more comprehensively than you did at the Greek grammar of Ephesians 2:8, looking at the case/number/gender combinations of each of these five words which establish communication, so here they are:
  • grace - noun - dative/feminine/singular
  • saved - verb - nominative/masculine/plural
  • faith - noun - genitive/feminine/singular
  • that - demonstrative pronoun - nominative/neuter/singular
  • gift - noun - nominative/neuter/singular

When taken as a linguistic whole, the Apostle Paul wrote that:
  • ”grace” is the gift of God while not being a work of man
  • ”saved” is the gift of God while not being a work of man
  • ”faith” is the gift of God while not being a work of man
in his writing of

by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not as a result of works, so that no one may boast for we are His work
(Ephesians 2:8-10)

Your explanation omits critical parts of the grammatical construction of the Apostle Paul's linguistics, so your explanation uses illegal grammar; in other words, your exclusion of "faith" from "gift" uses illegal grammar, and your free-willian adulteration is clearly evident by comparing and contrasting your personal grammar to the above bullet list examining the actual grammar of the five words.

Faith/Belief is the work of God (John 6:29) because the Word of God wonderfully declares the glory of God with "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent" (John 6:29)!

I never used illegal grammar. That is your made-up opinion. I clearly explained, several times, why "By grace you are saved" is the verbal concept. "Faith" possesses the grace of salvation, so it cannot be part of the salvation it possesses. This is not only grammatically correct, but is plain common sense.

I do not write this post for you; rather, I respond to you so that those viewing these posts will see for themselves the truth. And many will view these posts, because these posts remain on this board permanently.

By definition, it is impossible for "faith" to be a work. No work is required to believe. That is a fact.

John 6:28-29 (WEB) 28 They said therefore to him, “What must we do, that we may work the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”

  • All through the Epistles, we learn that our faith is NOT a work.
  • No Passages teaches us that God gives anyone the faith to be saved.
  • God calls the world to believe in the Son to have life (John 3:16).
  • Works are the result of a true Gospel Faith in Lord Jesus (Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 2:13-14).

So, the context of "John 6:28-29" is not a teaching that faith is a work. That is not the intent of the context.

John 6:28-29” In response to the Jews asking Jesus what “work” must they do to be saved, Jesus answers them that the work of God (what God requires) is that they believe in him.

Lord Jesus’ response to the Jews must have been a complete surprise to them, because, according to the Mosaic Law, they believed that works were required to be saved. But Lord Jesus refutes that notion by teaching them that the “work” God requires is to believe. No works, just believe.

Lord Jesus is, therefore, pointing out to the Jewish people that God was not looking for works, but was looking for faith. Many Jewish people of that day were focused on pleasing God through the works of the law.

Therefore, Lord Jesus is not teaching that God is giving a person faith, or that faith is a work; rather, Lord Jesus used their own vocabulary by which to respond to them. He was answering their question as to the “work” required. And what Lord Jesus replied as an answer to the “work” is just to believe in him, which all the Jews understood was not a work at all. And that was the surprise that the Jews were not expecting.

From your post 1927 —

This is the phrase I am referring to

  • so its done once and for all !

Paul was lost at one time, being a Pharisee and a persecutor of the Church.

Paul is a biblically example of why the lost can indeed be saved, and why your false doctrine is poison to Church Community.

JLB

Wrong! And that does NOT settle it once and for all. Saul was of the elect.
How is it possible that someone (who is) lost is able save himself given that he is lost? Were he able to do so, then he wasn't lost to begin with, but he is lost so he can't. To become unlost, they must first be made so by a source external to themselves. That source is Christ. Those who die unsaved stayed lost because Christ didn't make them unlost. Given that the gospel is hidden to the lost, just by the physical hearing of it, they cannot become un-lost. Something external to them must happen to them first to make it happen. Otherwise, lost does not really mean lost.
The mistake you make is to believe it is in man's power for someone to un-lost themselves. However, we are clearly informed in the Bible (Luke 19:10, for example), that it only comes through and by Christ. So, since not all will become saved, then not all were sought out nor saved by Christ.

[Gal 1:15 KJV] 15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called [me] by his grace,
[Luk 19:10 KJV] 10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
[2Co 4:3-4 KJV]
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

You either believe in Christ alone as the Saviour or you don't- there is no middle ground nor wiggle room. Trying to factor in qualifications to it means that you don't believe in Christ as Saviour. It simply cannot mean both: all of Christ or none of Christ - God brought forth only one way to salvation. Which is it?

In Galatians 1:15, Paul, in hindsight, is saying that God set him apart as an apostle before he was even born, foreknowing that he would believe after Christ revealed himself to him.

I say this, because even Paul knew that his salvation was not guaranteed unless he remained faithful to the end of his life:

Philippians 3:12-14 (WEB) 12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

We do not save ourselves per se; rather, God saves those who believe in His Son.

John 3:16 (WEB) 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Romans 1:16-17 (WEB) 16 For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, because it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first, and also for the Greek. 17 For in it is revealed God’s righteousness from faith to faith. As it is written, “But the righteous shall live by faith.” [Habakkuk 2:4]

However, by our faith, by remaining in the doctrine of the Faith, we do save ourselves from eternal punishment, showing that we take possession of the eternal life that is from God by our own faith in Lord Jesus.

1 Timothy 4:16 Pay attention to yourself and to your teaching. Continue in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear [listen] you.

Acts 2:40 With many other words he testified, and exhorted them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation!”

Galatians 2:16 So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith of Christ and not by the works of the law

I say this, because even Paul knew that his salvation was not guaranteed unless he remained faithful to the end of his life:

Wrong. There were no preconditions, just as with anyone's salvation. God wanted it and God made it happen.

The "fruits of the Spirit" are only given to believers - those who belong to Christ (vs. 24). The fruits listed are listed as the character traits that Christians demonstrate as they walk in the Spirit - crucified to the flesh.

Galatians 5:22-25 (WEB) I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since {{{we}}} live by the Spirit, {{{let us}}} keep in step with the Spirit.

God giving us the choice to believe or not to believe does not mean we place man's will above God's. Rather, it is God's will (John 6:39-40), desire (John 3:16), and good pleasure (Colossians 1:21) to save those who believe.

Colossians 1:21 (WEB) For seeing that in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom didn’t know God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who believe.

John 7:37-38 (WEB) 38 He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But he said this about the Spirit, which those believing in him were to receive.

Galatians 3:2 (NIV) 2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard?

Galatians 3:5 (NIV) 5 So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?

Galatians 3:13-14 (WEB) 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,” 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Christ Jesus; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit {{{through faith}}}.

Ephesians 1:13-14 (WEB) 13 in whom you also, having heard the word of the truth, the Good News of your salvation—in whom, having also believed, you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,

The genuine Faith of the Gospel always results in obedience, to become disciples. If a person claims to believe in Jesus as Lord; yet, he refuses to follow Christ, is his faith real? Only by an obedient faith does the Spirit indwell a person to give them Life.

Acts 5:32 (EWEB) 32 We are his witnesses of these things; and so also is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”

John 14:15-17 (Young’s Literal Translation)15 `If you love me, keep my commands, 16 and I will ask the Father, and another Comforter He will give to you, that he may remain with you -- to the age; 17 the Spirit of truth

John 14:23

Wait - the fruit of the Spirit - the Spirit's fruit - is faith, isn't it - it comes from the and by the Spirit. Without and before having the Spirit, the person doesn't, and can't, possess true faith.

[1Pe 1:21 KJV] 21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

[Gal 2:16 KJV] 16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

The Passages you quoted plainly show that it is our faith that we are justified and saved by Christ.

The fruit of the Spirit are character traits of a born-again Christian who have the Spirit indwelling him.

READ the context. These are Christians that Paul is admonishing and teaching, not unbelievers.

No. A spiritually dead and blind person cannot exercise spiritual choice.
One must first have their sins forgiven/saved by God before they can even have the knowledge of salvation.

[Luk 1:77 KJV] 77 To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,

[Eph 2:1, 5 KJV] 1 And you [hath he quickened], who were dead in trespasses and sins; ...
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

[Col 2:13 KJV] 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

Only those with, by, and from, the Holy Spirit, believe. It is His fruit, not man's.
His fruit, but are demonstrated in the believer who lives and continuously walks by the Spirit.

Not all Christians will continue to walk in the Spirit, and so will not demonstrate the fruits of the Spirit in their lives.

Romans 8:12-14 (NIV) 12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation — but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it.13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. 14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

Galatians 5:24-25 (NIV) 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

The Christian is to continue in the same faith he had when he received the Spirit, because Christians will grieve (Ephesians 4:17-32; Isaiah 63:10); quench (1 Thessalonians 5:19); insult (Hebrews 10:24-31); resist (Act 7:51), reject (1 Thessalonians 4:1-8), lie to (Acts 5:3), and test (Acts 5:9), the Spirit of God indwelling them, which can result in eternal punishment if not repented of (Hebrews 10:24-30); for the Spirit will only give eternal life to those Christians who continue to sow to the Spirit without giving up (Galatians 6:7-9).

The Spirit will only indwell to give life to those who believe.

John 14:23
(EWEB) 23 Jesus answered him, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him.
You might add Acts 2:38 to your list..."Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
First, repentance from sin.
Then, baptism in the name of the Lord for the remission of past sin.
Finally the gift of the Holy Ghost.

The Spirit will not inhabit a polluted temple.

The Passages you quoted plainly show that it is our faith that we are justified and saved by Christ.

The fruit of the Spirit are character traits of a born-again Christian who have the Spirit indwelling him.

No. "THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT". The "OF THE" is in the genitive case which denotes ownership.
The fruit belongs to the Holy Spriit, not to man. The fruits are those imbued into those saved, given by the Holy Spirit, which fruit, weren't within them beforehand.

[Col 2:13 KJV] 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

Regeneration, which is to pass from death to life (2 Corinthians 1:9-10), is by faith:

John 5:24 (WEB) Most certainly I tell you, he who hears {{listens to}} my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and doesn’t come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life [regeneration].

Regeneration is the light of life (Ephesians 5:8) by faith evidenced by following Lord Jesus:

John 8:12“I am the light of the world. [Isaiah 60:1] He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the {{light of life}}.” [The light of life is regeneration and is God’s Work in those who follow Lord Jesus.]

Regeneration is associated with being “Children of God.” We are children of God by faith:

Galatians 3:26 (WEB) For you are all children of God, {{through faith}} in Christ Jesus.

Regeneration is to receive God’s Spirit AFTER a person believes and becomes a child of God:

Galatians 4:6 (WEB) And because you are children, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, “Abba, Father!”

Regeneration - Spiritual Life - is by the Spirit of Christ dwelling IN US:

Romans 8:10-11 (WEB) 9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn’t have the {Spirit of Christ}, he is not his. 10 If Christ is IN YOU, the body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive [regeneration] because of righteousness.

Regeneration is Life by the Spirit of Christ dwelling in us (Romans 8:10-11) - AND the Spirit only indwells us to give us life by faith. Faith is demonstrated by following and obeying Lord Jesus.

John 14:15-16 (WEB) 15 If you love me, keep my commandments. 16 I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever: 17 the Spirit of truth

John 14:23
(WEB) 23 Jesus answered him, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him.

Acts 5:32 (WEB) 32 We are his witnesses of these things; and so also is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.

Regeneration: is to “Make Alive (Ephesians 2:1),” and is The Promise to those who believe:

Galatians 3:21-22 (WEB) 21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could Make Alive, most certainly righteousness would have been of the law. 22 But the Scripture imprisoned all things under sin, so that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

Regeneration is being “Raised with Christ” (Ephesians 2:6), and is by Faith in God’s Work

Colossians 2:12 (EWEB) you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God

Regeneration is a new birth, (John 3:8) is by faith (John 3:14-16; John 7:37-39), sowing to the Spirit.

Galatians 6:7-9 (Writing to the Church in Galatia) 7 {Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked}. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows [continuous] to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows [continuous] to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap ETERNAL LIFE. 9 Let us [believers] not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will {{reap}} a harvest if we [believers] do not give up!

Regeneration
is by the indwelling Spirit of the believer who puts to death the fleshly master by the Spirit indwelling him by faith. The Spirit leads to life the believer who walks and sows to the Spirit.

Romans 8:12-14 (ENIV) 12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have {{{an obligation}}} — but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it.13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit {you} put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. 14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

Galatians 6:7-9 (WEB) Do not be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption. But he who sows to the Spirit will {{{from the Spirit}}} reap eternal life. 9 {{{Let us}}} not be weary in doing good, for {{{we}}} will reap in due season, {{{if we}}} {{{do not give up}}}.

Galatians 5:25 (WEB) 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.
