Tasted Death for every Man !

The everyone Christ tasted death for in Heb 2:9 is everyone of His Bride, His Church. Eph 5:25

25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

brightfame52, this is a perfect example of why no verse of Scripture should be understood
in isolation, but instead, needs to be compared to other Scripture for a correct interpretation.
God purposefully wrote the Bible in this manner and intended that it be read that way.
Good job!

[2Pe 1:20 KJV] 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
[1Co 2:13 KJV] 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

The everyone Christ tasted death for in Heb 2:9 is everyone who is a believer, who sees[spiritually] Jesus Heb 2:9

9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

The writer here includes himself and isnt speaking of the natural man or jew. The seeing here is the effects of the Holy Spirit giving sight. So Jesus tasted death for every man that is seeing Him, Jesus who came to save His Peole from their sins Matt 1:21 Its the Fathers will Jesus said Jn 6:40

And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. 4

Another way to understand Heb 2:9 from the context of scripture, and that is, the foundation of the death of Jesus in the verse is the Grace of God:

9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

And the Grace of God is discriminate, its not for all without exception though for all without distinction
, of Gods Elect. Ex33:18-19

Ex. 33:18-19; And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy

Rom 11:5-6

5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

The substitutionary nature of Christs death was for a remnant according to the election of grace.

The writer of Hebrews wrote Heb 2:9

9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

Now honestly, did the writer write here that Christ tasted death for all mankind without exception here ? Nope he did not. In the original man isnt in the verse:

τὸν δὲ βραχύ τι παρ᾽ ἀγγέλους ἠλαττωμένον βλέπομεν Ἰησοῦν διὰ τὸ πάθημα τοῦ θανάτου δόξῃ καὶ τιμῇ ἐστεφανωμένον ὅπως χάριτι θεοῦ ὑπὲρ παντὸς γεύσηται θανάτου

Man was added by the translators. The word pas can refer to all the whole, the sum total of all the group intended. Context is important n determining the group that the writer has in mind. Lets look at the very next verse 10

10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

Bingo, its the many sons that e suffered and died for, or tasted death for,
The word many polys:

many, much, large, many, numerous, great

He tasted death for many Sons, a great number of them, everyone of them. This is important,, because later in the same epistle the writer uses the adjective many again to denote who He tasted death for Heb 9:28

So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

See to taste death back in Heb 2:9 is the exact same thing as " to bear the sins of many;" again, the many Sons of vs 10, everyone of the sons is who He tasted death for, not all of mankind without exception.

See Isa 53:11

He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
Yes, the everyone is the elect church, the seed of Abraham, not the seed of Adam.
Vs.16 is clear

Another way of understanding Heb 2:9 as it regards who the every man were concerning who Christ tasted death for. It was for everyone that had salvation by it Vs 10

10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

Notice the writer terms it their salvation, it belonged to them even though they didn't know it. They had no knowledge of their salvation until they heard the Gospel, Paul writes in Eph 1:13

13
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

See salvation belongs to the saved before they hear about it by means of the Gospel

Salvation belongs to every sinner Christ tasted death for. The word for in Heb 2:9

9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

Its the greek word prep hyper and means:

  1. in behalf of, for the sake of

Christ therefore suffered in behalf of them the death they should have experienced and that equates to their salvation from death. The word denotes representation, in the interest of others.

And notice it also means for the sake of meaning:

You do it for the purpose or in order to achieve a result. The result in this case is their salvation!

I think the verses below establishes that for those who become saved by God, they cannot fall from it.
They cannot, because as the verses demonstrate, it is God who made Himself the guarantor against it, and by that, eliminated the possibility that it could occur.

[Phl 1:6 KJV]
6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform [it] until the day of Jesus Christ:

[1Pe 1:5 KJV]
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Heb 2:9-10

9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

The every Man in Vs 9 refers to the Many Sons He suffered and died for, resulting in Him being the Captain of their Salvation. This therefore also speaks of effectual atonement since them He suffered and tasted death for resulted in Him being the Captain of their Salvation bringing them to Glory. 5

He tasted death for every man. The immediate context clarifies who the every man are in Heb 2:9-10

But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

10 “For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. The suffering here culminates into His death in Vs 9

He tasted death for everyone of the many sons, that is supported by the immediate context.

Every man Jesus tasted death for He became the Captain of their Salvation and brings them to Glory Heb 2:9-10

Also the every man He tasted death for, are the sanctified ones Heb 2:11

11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

Now how were they who are sanctified sanctified ? Heb 10:10 tells us

10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ, which is equivalent to saying as Heb 2:9 states, His Death

9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

Now are all men individually without exception sanctified ? Of course not, so Christ could not have tasted death for all men individually ! f

The everyone Christ tasted death for in Heb 2:9 is everyone of His Bride, His Church. Eph 5:25

25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
You apparently believe that if you are not a Calvinist you are lost. There are multitudes of Christians that are part of Christ's church that are not Calvinist. I happen to be one of them.

Do you understand that those whom Christ tasted death for are ultimately saved, brought to Glory ? Heb 2:9-10

9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings[Death].

Christ did Taste Death for every man, that is every man that was to be an heir of Salvation Heb 1:14

14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
Again Heb 6:17
17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:

Heb 11:9

By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:

For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

Bingo, its the many sons that e suffered and died for, or tasted death for.

I believe you are mixed up.
If this is your proof jesus died for only some, Jesus can die for all but since all wont accept Him it was many who did.

Dying for all is not the same as bringing many to glory... you die for them so that you Can bring some to glory

Thats only one proof of many. Read the thread

According to the context who are the everyone He tasted death for ? Heb 2:9-10
He "might" taste death "for everyone" is not He tasted death for everyone but as other stated suggests "whosoever" and sets the playing field as "everyone". Generation after generation even to this day and until the end of the age whosoever believes shall be saved.

Wrong answer !

"Might" taste death for "everyone" does not limit the playing field "everyone" as I read.
We know everyone will not believe in fact the ratio is not even good. Narrow road vs wide road.
You don't agree with my answer but that is my answer.
Your answer is wrong, and I have explained why.
