The Atonement: What did it REALLY Accomplish?

He didn't fail.
The person who denied Him failed.

When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” Mark 2:17 NKJV

“Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” Luke 5:31-32 NKJV

Didn't He come for all sinners?

“But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. None of the transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him; because of the righteousness which he has done, he shall live. Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?” says the Lord God, “and not that he should turn from his ways and live? But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? All the righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; because of the unfaithfulness of which he is guilty and the sin which he has committed, because of them he shall die. Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ Hear now, O house of Israel, is it not My way which is fair, and your ways which are not fair? When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, commits iniquity, and dies in it, it is because of the iniquity which he has done that he dies. Again, when a wicked man turns away from the wickedness which he committed, and does what is lawful and right, he preserves himself alive. Because he considers and turns away from all the transgressions which he committed, he shall surely live; he shall not die. Yet the house of Israel says, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ O house of Israel, is it not My ways which are fair, and your ways which are not fair? Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways,” says the Lord God. “Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord God. “Therefore turn and live!” Ezekiel 18:21-32 NKJV

Because yes or no can be taken either way because of the word "didn't.
DS
He'll take it how he understands it anyway, as it evident from his answers.
We seem to get such differing ideas from the same bible. Verses should not be plucked out. The N.T. is a complete and homogeneous book and should be treated that way. (I don't mean this for you).

I don't understand the curt responses in their postings?

He didn't fail.
The person who denied Him failed.
Yes, if He did not do exactly what His Father sent Him to do, He failed. His Father sent Him to # 1 to Seek and #2 to Save that which was Lost Lk 19:10

10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

What are the Two objectives here stated ?

John 3:17; "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him".
What part of "the world" do you not understand?
I have no problem with that verse. That world is the same as those in Lk 19:10 that He came to seek and to save. Do you believe that He is 100% successful in saving that world ? Yes or No ?

This last statement is strictly your opinion.
You have stated no Scripture here to support this.
Very weak argument indeed!
Did you read post 9 ? I used scripture to support what I stated. So you are being unjust to make that statement. Do you believe Christ's Death produces Eternal Life for those He died for ?

He died for everyone.
Is everyone saved?
No.
We do have a choice.
God wanted it that way.

You quoted John 12:23-24;
I do not see that answering your statement: Those false teachers who teach that Christ died for people who never are born again, do Christ's death a disservice, a injury, insult and injustice !

So you are saying that He's not 100% successful!
Don't put words in my mouth.
You are interpreting that way.
Is it the way Jesus interprets?
Are you speaking for Jesus?
I don't think so.
I think you are wrong.
If you think that I am saying that Jesus is 100% not successful, then the onus is on you to show Scripture, better than anything you've done so far, to prove you right.

The answer is NO.
Those who are ultimately lost Christ DID come to seek and to save.
THEY didn't WANT to be saved.
I believe you are exactly correct.
Salvation is open to whoever wants it.
There is no one for whom the atonement does not apply.
Those who are ultimately condemned to hell are condemned because they choose not to be reconciled and united to God. They choose separation from God and God respects their choice.

I can't help what you don't see.

If Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost, and didn't do it, yes you are saying that He failed to do what His Father sent Him to do.

Those Christ died for are reconciled to God by His Death while they are enemies Rom 5:10!

You've never even answered my first question to you concerning post #1.
We should never have gotten past that.
