'The Bible tells me so' is wrong

The fact is there would be no current reality or "historical fact" (whatever that means) if not for the Christ as the Word of God!! All things were created through Him!!

Are you serious that you don't know what historical fact is?

Did Columbus discover America in 1492? Is that historical fact or fairy tale? Did Captain James Cook claim the east coast of Australia for Great Britain in 1770? Is that historical fact or fiction?

Was Jesus' body buried in a tomb and the body raised from the dead 3 days later? (Mark 15:21-16:8 ESV). Is this historical fact or fantasy?

Do we know what the historical facts are better than the current reality?

Was Columbus the first to discover America in 1492? Perhaps it was a lookout on the ship? The truth is not actually know by us. So you wrote sarcastically "current reality (whatever that means)", and you actually had a good point, though you were just trying to be sarcastic. So I wrote back "historical fact (whatever that means), as both a response to your sarcasm and to also point out there was something in what you were writing, though I understand you didn't see it.

Only God really knows the true of what happened and what is happening today!!

So if you want to know the truth you actually have to talk to Him, and listen to what He says. You can study a book, but that is people leaning on their understanding and memory, who maybe trying their best to put it down for you, but that is still their best.

Even if the Lord tells you something, you still interpret it according to your understanding. God know that too, but the solution is to listen to the Lord more, and the understanding is that we don't have the understanding, only God does!

That is why Paul wrote 1 Cor 8:1,2 ... we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge make arrogant, but loves edifies. If anyone supposes that he knows anyhting, he has not yet know as he ought.

Now God is love, and it is Him that edifies (teaches - instruct or improve (someone) morally or intellectually.) So are you telling people to seek the Lord Jesus Christ and what He has to say to them, or are you telling people to lean on their own understanding of the Bible and historical fact as you know them?

All that is great and we should study, but the reality is that Jesus Christ stands at the door and knocks and if anyone opens the door He will come into them, and it is written that they will all be taught of God.

So the issue with this thread, "'The Bible tells me so'" is that it is a thread on how much we need to lead people to the Bible instead of how we need to lead people to Jesus Christ as someone that will and wants to talk to them, teach them, and instruct them. We don't really show a lot of faith the Jesus Christ is really with us to be inquired of, and it shows!!

We write' Jesus Christ died and rose again 2000 years ago, but as a historical fact instead of pointing out that it means we can talk to Him today, and you seem to be missing this!

You are supposing you know things

Si tuvieras fe, como un grano de mostaza
(If you have faith like a mustard seed)
Eso lo dice el Señor
(This is what the Lord says)
Si tuvieras fe, como un grano de mostaza
(If you have faith like a mustard seed)
Eso lo dice el Señor
(This is what the Lord says)

Tu le dirías a la montaña
(You say to the mountain)
Mueve té! Mueve té!
(Move! Move!)
Tu le dirías a la montaña
(You say to the mountain)
Mueve té! Mueve té!
(Move! Move!)

Esa montaña se moverá
(That mountain will move)
Se moverá, se moverá
(Move, move)
Esa montaña se moverá
(That mountain will move)
Se moverá, se moverá
(Move, move)

This is a great song about faith, and reminds us that with Jesus, anything is possible !!

Matthew 17:14-20
14 When they came to the crowd, a man approached Jesus and knelt before him.15 “Lord, have mercy on my son,” he said. “He has seizures and is suffering greatly. He often falls into the fire or into the water. 16 I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him.”
17 “You unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.” 18 Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed at that moment.
19 Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”
20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faithas small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

You did not respond to the 'historical facts' that I gave you as to whether they are historical facts or something else.

You stated: 'Do we know what the historical facts are better than the current reality?' I find that to be an incoherent question?

That is simply postmodern relativism that is "speaking". There is no such thing as "propositional truth" to a postmodern "thinker", and that is NOT a cut on anyone, but a description of the thought process where one person can say "Well that is YOUR truth, but it is NOT mine.".
