The Derailing Thread

Carbon 13 to carbon 12 and nitrogen 15 to nitrogen 14 ratios suggest a paucity of prebiotic molecules in the early earth, possibly due to the oxygen/UV paradox.

There is no known mechanism for spontaneous generation of all left handed biomolecules.

This is evidence that the Lord created life.

Ok, that's two alternators in five weeks. I went 37 years of driving without an alternator dying on me. The good news, is that the Ford Ranger's alternator is 1/2 the price of the Crossfire's, it is in stock all over town, and it was WAY easier to change.

In related news, there is almost NO evidence that the Lord created Alternators. Yet, every alternator lives it's life naked. The preceding may not be a paradox, but it DOES constitute a pair of sentences.

I'm pretty sure I've changed the alternator and starter and water pump on every vehicle I've ever owned. A few times on some of them. One time I changed the starter in the parking lot of Eckerd drug store.

My car broke down on me once.
I called my mechanic and he came out and handed me a gas can and said, "walk over to that gas station and fill it up. That will be $40.00".

I know, up till now, it seems that everyone around me has had one fail. Given the high mileage vehicles I have had (most bought at before 30,000 and driven to over 200,000) you'd think this would have bit me some time ago. The car has 28000, but the cheap Valeo alternators in the 07 and 08's are known to be junk. The Ranger has 84000 on it.

Been a wacky couple of days for me. Slept a good 3 hours on Tuesday night, went in for my usual 8-4 on Wednesday... got mandated into a 16 hour shift, worked until midnight, went home at midnight, fell asleep around 2am, then back in to work at 8am this morning. Coffee ain't even doing it. Heading to help my brother move as soon as I clock out, so maybe tonight I will get some good rest haha.

The amount of matter in the universe is not random.

The quantity of matter in the universe is optimized for nucleosynthesis to produce the correct quantity of elements to make people comfortable. Less matter would not have enough gravity to drive the nucleosynthesis of heavy elements. Additional matter would have generated so much gravity that nearly everything would have been converted into heavy elements, leaving a paucity of pleasant elements like carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen.

We are in a just right universe where the quantity of matter has been optimized for us.
