The Derailing Thread

The furry fandom can be fun. Although there are some parts of it that create negative connotations. If anyone ever asks me if I'm a furry, my response will be "That depends on your definition of 'furry'." If it means fan of anthropomorphic and sentient animals, then yes, I am a furry.

I wouldn't mind fursuiting if I ever had the money to commission a fursuit. (I'm crap at sewing, so making one myself is out.)

I actually talked to an atheist in my unit about that. furrying is big in anime and also in tampa. I was thinking of you when I was talking about that.

I actually didn't know that...but then in anime you do sometimes see characters with cat ears and tails, called "neko"s. And they do have a fanbase.

At the anime con I attended in Jacksonville there were a few fursuiters--I got a pic with a wolf fursuiter.

yes that is what he said. its more common to see that then the full deal.neko is the Japanese word cat btw.

Wearing the tail kinda backfired on me when I went to use the restroom....:oops2 It got dipped in the friggen toilet. Luckily nothing too bad happened to it other than that.
I wasn't home at the time, so I rinsed it off in the sink, cleaned it with hand sanitizer as soon as I was able, and when I got home poured hydrogen peroxide over it...then I set it out to air out.

I can't believe I let that happen in the first place, though...:wall

Guess they figure cartoons = for kids. ...which, is not always the case.
Some anime is aimed at kids...like Sonic X seems to have been. I used to like that anime when I was into the Sonic fandom. (I watched the dub and parts of the original Japanese version.) Now that I've seen shows that are way superior I realize it was actually a pretty terribly done anime. And Pokemon seems to be at least partly aimed at kids, too, even in Japan.

yes, but well I cant go into the anime that I have watched and post links. I watched some of and its really not wise for a Christian to do that. is it all bad? no but its out there

True.
The anime I watched is typically rated for a teen audience. Although if I was under 18 and subject to my parent's authority still I wouldn't be allowed to watch the anime I watch, rated for teens or not. I wouldn't watch anything pornographic, but I know it exists in anime, and there is a whole genre dedicated to it.

Probably the "worst" I've watched in anime is Hetalia...which is rated mature for occasional vulgar language and occasional crude humor. (I won't go into details.)

A couple of the anime I've watched are actually based off visual novels* which were rated for adults due to porn in some parts. The anime adaptions don't have that, though; they were specifically made to be more family-friendly.

*Like a video game book with illustrations every page and interactive in that your choices decide the outcome.

The word "otaku" (which usually refers to someone obsessed with anime, but apparently can refer to obsession with other things) is usually used as a good or neutral term in the US and (so far as I'm aware) other Western countries, but in Japan it's actually more of an insult. Or so I've read from numerous sources.

Dried out and brushed it to straighten out the "fur". It looks as good as new. Phew!

If I posted a :topic smiley, woul that mean I am derailing the derailing thread? And if so, would that mean I'm doing it wrong - or that I'm doing it exactly right?
