The "I HATE NOTRE DAME!" thread.

The rankings are out! Penn State came in #29, although only the top 25 are "ranked."

It is only a numerical co-incidence that Penn State received 29 ranking votes.

Notre Dame, uhm, did not receive any.

NOOOOOoooooo!

Notre Dame pounded the living daylights out of #15 Utah, 28-3.

Oh, the pain, the pain.

At #25, the formerly high-flying Utah Utes are barely ranked after yesterday's pounding by Notre Dame. But despite beating its first ranked team since 2006, ND didn't get a single ranking vote. And while I can't stand ND, is this fair?

The thinking is that after being beaten 47-7 two weeks ago by TCU, the Utes fell apart. They had won eight games in a row and had a chance at finishing the year as #1. In yesterday's game, the Utes played terribly while ND was superb. But not superb enough to erase the rest of the season.

I hate ND too.
I would like to see the big east kick them to the curb.
The big east could use ND in football because it is so weak in that area. But the other sports are strong.
They should kick them out.

Now there's a man after my own heart.

This Saturday, Army will play the team I love to hate: Notre Dame. After leading his team to their first Sugar Bowl last year, Coach Brian Kelly deserted them for Notre Dame, so he's a man I like to see get defeated.

Last Saturday, the Fighting Irish pounded their first ranked team since 2006, but still received no ranking votes. And on the same day, the Black Knights beat the team with the #1 rushing defense in the nation. With the season nearing its end, both teams are struggling for a good bowl game, and motivation ought to be high.

When Notre Dame becomes an afterthought, I'll really be down on my beloved Irish. But as long as there's enough hate to warrant their own thread, this is evidence enough that Notre Dame is still Notre Dame. As far as the hating on BK, that goes with the job. Fans that hate on him also hated those who preceded him.

And the glory of it all will be when they are invited to a bowl they haven't earned and garner even more hate. Why, because Notre Dame is Notre Dame, and everyone else is envious of the legacy that the Irish have. :yes

Haters will hate. That's what they do. I enjoy witnessing it eating them up. :thumbsup

Oh, the pain, the pain!

Army scored a field goal on its first possession, and then lost 27-3. It was Notre Dame's 14th straight victory over Army. Now 6-5, Notre Dame is eligible for a bowl game.

With two blow-outs in a row, will the Fighting Irish get any ranking votes tomorrow?

I hope not.

My prayers have been answered! Notre Dame received no ranking votes in today's poll!

Uhm, Penn State did.

Heh heh.

How 'bout them Irish!!! Spanking the convicts 33-17, and that with some soft defense in the 4th quarter! This is a significant win being a bowl game and Kelly's first year. A nice way to end the season. :yes

It's early, but so far, the Big Ten is off to a good start. Would liked to have seen Nebraska represent as an incoming program.

I just read the original post of this thread for the first time. I don’t hate Notre Dame, but it’s hard to pull for a team that has its own TV network (NBC).

I admit, it is awkward for one team to have its own network contract, especially when they open each game as if it's the "Notre Dame Show" and don't give each team equal billing. But, Notre Dame is an Independent program in football. The SEC has their own contract as a conference. There was a time when everyone played on ABC except ND, but now you have games no CBS as well.

It's a testimony to the ND program that they continue to get ratings and renewed contracts through these very lean years. Their name, tradition and national following are what makes this continue. If this was just "another program", NBC would have dumped this contract years ago. This is a large part of why ND stays independent. While I desperately feel they should just get it over with and join the Big Ten and feel they're being short-sighted, obviously the school disagrees.

Talking about ratings—
I always agonize over the fact that in Reno, we are forced to watch Forty-niner and Raider games each Sunday when certainly there are much more interesting games being played.

Update here. Boy, the Big Ten really got punched in the mouth today. Five games and 5 losses. :( There's no defending this. What a travishamockery. :shame UM and Northwestern are known bad programs, but I was hoping MSU could at least hang with Bama. Wisconsin and Penn State were a disappointment to say the least. :help

Even if Ohio State wins, this is embarrassing.
