The Life and the Blood

Revelation is as symbolic as it is literal so explain then why when John saw Jesus open the fifth seal the angel gave John a vision of the souls under the altar. The souls are very specific in that verse and different than the breath/spirit that also goes back to God who gave it.

The souls were under the altar. The altar is where the sacrifices took place. There were sacrifices everyday, so the ground under the altar would be saturated with blood. Consider what Moses wrote.

KJV Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. (Lev. 17:11 KJV)

The word life in this passage is nephesh, soul. The soul is in the blood. So, we have the lives of the martyrs under the altar. Lives that were sacrificed for God. Consider what God said to Cain.

KJV Genesis 4:10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.1 (Gen. 4:10 KJV)

Here we have Abel's blood crying out to God. Remember, the soul, life, is in the blood. Abel was the first Martyr.

That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. (Matt. 23:35 KJV)

I would submit that the passage in Revelation is God saying that He hasn't forgotten all of those who have been martyred and that they will see justice.

Those who are asleep that are Christ own are still in their graves as the flesh is rotting away back to the dust of the ground as no one that has ever died has ascended up to heaven, John 3:13. When Christ returns and we are raised from our grave it is not the physical body that will rise up as it no longer exist. It will be a new glorified body that will be incorruptible and immortal as we know not what we will look like other than we will look like Christ in His glorified body, 1 Corinthians 15:51-55; 1 John 3:2.

What exactly is it that you believe will be raised up? The Greek word that is translated resurrection means to stand again. It's the body that went into the grave that will be raised up. Remember Jesus was raised in the same body that went into the tomb. He had the scars to show it. God gave Ezekiel a picture of the Resurrection.

The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,
2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.1
3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.
4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.
5 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:
6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.
8 And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.
9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.1
10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.
12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.
13 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,
14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and p (Ezek. 37:1-14 KJV)

The soul that sins will die because there is no eternal life with the Father to those who do not walk in His statures as those souls have been judged and will be cast into the lake of fire as being dead to God.

This doesn't address the issue. All souls sin, Everyone dies. This shows us that the soul is tried directly to the body.

We are immaterial souls joined to a physical body created by God from the dust of the ground. God breathed His breath/spirit into our nostrils that made this body a living soul. We are made up of three parts being spirit, soul and body that are joined together.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The body is physical with five senses being sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch that connects with the world. The soul is the part of the human being that will live on in eternity and with our soul, heart and mind, not our fleshly body, is the part of us that is to love God.

Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Matthew 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

In those two verses it speaks about our soul as being in relationship with God and not this fleshly body. It's our soul and spirit that needs regeneration by God's Spirit.

The life we have here on earth is temporal as our physical bodies will die and return to the dust and be remembered no more.

Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.

John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

1 John 3: 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

The life and the blood is in Jesus who gives our soul eternal life with the Father by that of the blood sacrifice through God's grace that we are made righteous by the righteousness of God. God is not going to make new again our physical bodies that have become as a filthy rag to Him that has returned to dust, but will raise us from the grave in new glorified bodies that we know not what we will look like, but will be like Christ in His glorified body.
