I don't have a problem with it. It's better than a reputation system that is seen on some other forums. If I see a post that I agree with or I think is well done, I might not have much more to add, so a simple 'like' will suffice. It avoids the threads being clogged up with silly +1, or I Agree posts. And it's not like a large accumulation of likes gets you anything ,really, although I'm looking at a way of hiding the total likes a person has received, so we simply have the functionality and totally remove any competition for likes, not that I think it's a problem here.

The ignore button - it is a great feature. If you really can't stand someone or they're harassing you, then putting them on ignore will help to make the forums and your time here more peaceful. FYI staff cannot use it and they can't be ignored either.

I appreciate the "like" button. I know sometimes posts are "liked" for saying something popular or "the right thing, at the right time," but on a forum like this one, I find it helpful. I'm a Baby Christian, so when I get "likes," I must have said something helpful, maybe even insightful. Thankfully, there's not a "dislike" button, and, like I wrote before, people around here are tactful enough to skip over posts that don't contribute to the discussion.

I noticed that some sub-forums have disabled the "like" function, and I agree with that. For general discussion purposes, I think "likes" might actually be a good thing. For heavier discussion and debates, probably not so much.

Staff can be ignored and it doesn't take a button either. But there will be consequences. :rollingpin
