  • Focus on the Family

    Strengthening families through biblical principles.

Focus on the Family addresses the use of biblical principles in parenting and marriage to strengthen the family.

The nation of Israel was given the Law,and it was never given to the the Gentiles

Easy---The baptism of the Spirit occured at Pentecost ( Acts 2, for the Jew ) and again at the household of Cornelius ( Acts 10,11 for the Gentile ) thus upon "all flesh" as per the prophet Joel. It cannot be found happening again after that. As John's baptism and its purpose has been fulfilled, so the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
:o:shocked!:eeeekkk:confused::lol:D

These emoticons sure come in handy at times like this!!!

Webb this is a concept i have not heard of before. As much as i hate yes no questions i am going to ask one... Please also with an explanation :yes

Do you believe Christians a infilled with the Holy Spirit but not as the say the penticostals say baptized in the Holy spirit.?...

I'm afraid if you take the "Holy Spirit" out of "your" equation, and deny His work, then you are "doomed" my friend...

To deny the work of the Holy Spirit is an offence before God...I don't know if it "borders" on "blasphemy" however, it comes awfully close in my own opinion. Matthew 12:32---And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

Paul did blaspheme the Holy Spirit, but Christ saved him and made an apostle to the Gentiles of Paul.

At the stoning of Stephen.

For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. -Acts 1:5

But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, -Acts 7:55
And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. -Acts 7:56

And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul. -Acts 7:58

Paul named Saul at the time was consenting to the stoning of Stephen.

And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities. -Acts 26:11

Is that so? Not much there but conjecture, certainly no scripture backing up your position. The verses pointing out each event in Acts don't count as evidence. That those events occurred is a given.

Nope, sorry. Not good enough.

Respond or comment on the verses I posted # 50, and then we can discuss it further.

The man you speak of was, "Saul of Tarsus" The man quoting in Acts is "Paul" the Apostle... Also Paul does not "personally" claim to have "blasphemed" the Holy Spirit and could not have committed "blasphemy" due to the fact, the "blasphemy" of the Holy Spirit" is "unforgivable" and God would not have been able to use him (Paul)--- 2 Corinthians 5:17 backs the truth that Saul became Paul) "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is why Israel was scattered and done away that is why they are Lo Ammi not God's people today.

Paul said he was a blasphemer!

Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. -1 Timothy 1:13

This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. -1 Timothy 1:15
Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. -1 Timothy 1:16

My friend the following verses will give you the "blasphemy" that is THE "unforgivable" SIN...Matthew 12:31-32 ---

"31Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

32And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

Oops. I neglected to mention the "all flesh" part. Hint.............Cornelius was far from the last.

Yes, it's a beautiful thing when the Spirit is poured out on all flesh. And what did that mean?

It means the church is born and the Gospel will go out in full power. Each member of the body is covered with, immersed in and empowered by the Holy Spirit, given gifts of the Spirit, and are sealed with the Spirit. One baptism for any and all who choose to follow Jesus Christ.

Joel 2: 26-32 said:
And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. And [color=red) ye shall know that I am in the midst [/color] of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the LORD come. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

All flesh are given God's grace with the Gospel, which is the power to save. Now they need only come to Hin through faith and they'll be there. All flesh will feel the power of the Gospel message as we go out and fulfill our mission as the Army of Christ.

And you want to cut His army down to Pentecost and Cornelius? Really?
