The Ophicial Philadelphia Philles Phanatics Thread

Right now, the Phillies are leading the Reds 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth.

The Rays beat the Rangers, so their series stands 2-2. The winner of the next game will go up against the Yankees for the American League championship.

A player for the Braves tied a post-season record, committing three errors that handed the victory to the Giants. The Giants are leading the Braves 2-1 in their series, and the winner will go on to compete for the National League pennant.

But the BIG news in sports:

The clown princes of American athletics, the Detroit Lions, beat the St. Louis Rams 44-6 today! The Lions set a record two years ago, becoming the first NFL team to lose all sixteen games. They won four games last year, and after losing ten straight since then, they won today. They would have won their opening game this year, but a player violated a new rule, turning the winning touchdown into an incomplete pass and losing the game.

The Phillies have just swept the Reds, 2-0!

Along with the Yankees, the Phillies will have a few days off while the other two series are decided.

The San Francisco Giants have beaten the Atlanta Braves, winning their series. The Giants will play the Phillies, starting this Saturday, for the National League championship, with the winner going to the World Series.

It was the last game for Braves manager Bobby Cox, the fourth winningest manager in history, as he enters a well-earned retirement. Even the victorious Giants gave him an ovation as he walked across the field.

The Texas Rangers have beaten the Tampa Bay Rays, winning their series. The Yankees and the Rangers will now play a best-of-five series for the American League championship and a trip to the World Series.

It's a tough break for the Rays. They spent most of the season with either the best or second-best record in baseball, competing with the Yankees. In the last few weeks, they won their division, while the second-place Yankees only got a wild card, and the Phillies got the best overall record.

But the Yankees are still in the running, while the Rays are history.

The Yankees lost just minutes ago, and the Texas Rangers have a 3-1 lead in their series. They changed the rules on me, Pholks. The second play-off series in best of seven, so the Yankees are still in the race for the American League pennant.

It looks bad phor our Phillies. They trail the San Francisco Giants 2-1 in their best of seven series.

The Yankees won and now trail the Rangers 3-2 in their series. But the BIG news in sports is:

After being ejected from the game, a professional hockey player grabbed a fan who was heckling him. Coming to his senses almost immediately, the hockey player released him unharmed. He is suspended from the next game pending a hearing, which will probably suspend him for another six games.

Some time back, a hockey player was suspended for giving an obscene gesture to a fan who was heckling him. Another player joked about being heckled while sitting in the penalty box, so he squirted water on the fan, explaining that it made the fan's day.

The Texas Rangers are beating the Yankees 4-1 in the fifth inning, but the BIG news in sports is:

MARINES STILL HOLD TEXAS

A US Marine color guard was standing at attention on the field while they sang The Star Spangled Banner. Then it started to rain. So the ground crew started pulling out the tarps. But the Marines were in the way, and the National Anthem wasn't over yet. And the ground crew wanted them to move, and...

Folks, these are the guys who still held Wake. The ground crew had to wait.

Of course, I'm not mocking scripture, but I couldn't help but post this. Maybe re-assuring you that is was God's plan will ease your broken heart. :lol

Rev 3
To the Church in Philadelphia

7"To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write:
These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and
what he shuts no one can open.
"

So we both were devastated today. You realized it's over for your Philly's, and I realized ND is not improved and they're going no where this season.
:sad

ALL RIGHT, WE'RE BACK!!!!!!!!!

It's 2011, and the Philadelphia Phillies have won their opening Game! We're going to the World Series!

Yes we have won the opening game, and I expect to win many more especially with the best pitcher rotation in baseball.

The phabulous Phillies have swept all three games from the phumbling Houston Astros, as we phorge our way to the World Series.

The Phillies didn't take to the phield yet today, but here's an exact quote from today's Yahoo Sports:

"The Philadelphia Phillies, embodiment of good,"

It will be an important game tonight. The Phillies (3-0) are playing the Mets (2-1). Because they are in the same division, this game will affect the play-offs.

After blowing a 7-0 lead, the phloundering Phillies managed to beat the Mets 10-7. What happened? The pitcher admits that he fell apart, and the batters bailed him out.
