The Ramble On thread

what happened to this forum?? I haven't been here for a while and everything has changed LOL!! :o

I personally think the old style offered the best features and found it much more simplistic and easier to navigate. But, thats progress. :sad

Just being honest

I like it. From a user point of view, I don't find it difficult to navigate, once you remember where the features are.

From an administrative and moderating point of view, it is great. I got more tools now than I know what to do with, honestly. :-D

destiny - that is also true because that is what you were familiar with. The night the Logan upgraded, I was all confused. However, the more you use it - the more familiar it will become.

I personally like the style and overall look of the forum.

I like the new look and feel.

Relic, I read what you wrote about 'getting old'.

Is it just old age creeping in on me?
Is it true that the older a person gets the more weary they become from all the corruption in the world?

Where is the refreshing? ....

I can identify with this, especially the 'old age creeping in on me' part!
Stay in His Word. I find great joy and peace there. I have also found wisdom and support from older Christians who have the ability to take it easy and rest and trust in our Lord. I look at them and even look forward to getting older and more like them!

Kind regards and my thoughts are with you.
Gary

Thank you Gary,
Odd thing, I just recently got invited by my mom and her friends to attend their monthy community theater get togethers. It is a pleasure being around them, one of them literally reminds me how I "should be grateful I'm still alive", let alone being creeky in the knees or feeling some kind of ailment, or complain about any ole' thing. She is 81 years old, lives life to the fullest, always doing something she "enjoys" , and is full of optimistism. Yes, it is true what you relay that even our elders teach "us elders" a thing or two. She also has a way of bringing me back to a place of thanksgiving whenever I tend towards complaining. I love it when people remind me that "I'm doing it again", because I'm grateful for the reminder to stop the griping, and to give thanks instead.
Thanks for the encouragement. Getting back on track is a relief, indeed. :-D
If I'm not mistaken, I haven't complained for two days. Yippie! :-D

Relic to Vic,

Ummm, hey there, :-D ....Not to complain or anything. Cause I'm concentrating on not complaining... 8-) But, I would like to know if Logan is going to reinstall the spell checker ???
017.gif
And does Logan want us to let him know about certain functions that are missing? Or is he well aware and it's what it is and we just better get used to the changes, minus the spell checker, the extra page of the smilies the click on them to instert is not working, the bible links are not there any longer, and a couple of other things that are no longer like they were? That is... .not that I'm complaining.... :P I'm just wondering... 8-) :-D

But if the spell checker isn't going to be reinstalled, I then have to make the habit of reminding myself to first type my posts into my word processor and do the spell checking there before I post them here... but.... that is... if I remember to do that.
Otherwise, my posts will contain some type o's because I'm too quick with the fingers and likely to miss hitting the correct key or two every once in a while. :P

Would appreciate some info as to what's up with the changes and which functions will not be available any longer, or if they are coming back soon. Thanks :fadein:

Relic ! LOL Logan is a real person and he doesn't bite. LOL You may start a thread in the Suggestion Forum... actually, I encourage it! Unfortunately, he is on his way to the mission field for a week or so. :-?

May I suggest you upgrade to the latest version of Firefox and take advantage of the most helpful built-in spell checker?

There is also a plugin available for Bible verses that can be downloaded for free. One of the members turned us on to it, though I had to uninstall mine. I forget who it was... lovely or destiny? Ask one of them for details.

Yeap, Firefox is good about letting me know I have just misspelled something - like it just did when I tried to misspell misspell by spelling it mispell. :infinity:

I wish the email notification worked...not that I'm complaining. 8-)

The only thing I want to plug in now is an air conditioner! WHEW it's hot today! And the humidity is so high I have to prop up my feet so they don't swell up. ick. old age ain't fun at all. (Not when physical ailments creep up on ya) :sad But I'm not doing it because if I do I won't get acclimated to the hot weather and I'll never come out of that room. It would make life harder to work outside of the air conditioning.

Anyway, if I add anymore plugins onto my computer it will be running so slow it would take 5 minutes just to switch screens. I'm still using an old computer from way back in 1994 My brother upgraded it some time in 1997 but it is just really slow compared to today’s standards of computers. I don’t suspect I'll get another upgrade till sometime around Christmas. That's when people give out gifts, for some reason, ya know.

Anyway, thanks for the references. I use Studylight.org for my bible look ups, and in the mean time.... I'll just have to use my word processor for the spell checking... that is... IF I remember or am not too lazy to do so.

Why does Logan have to upgrade the board. I liked the old board. Oh well, Suppose I'm just an old foggie who likes to keep things the way they are... Ya know the old saying.... IF N IT AIN’T BROKE...... THEN DON’T FIX IT.

Oh well, it's his board. :smt032

OH, Not that I'm complaining.... 8-)

(I'm trying to concentrate on not complaining  )

:P :painting:

cha cha cha cha cha cha changes....turn and face the change.... cha cha changes....

Um, excuse me, please..... But.... Is anyone else getting a flickering on the main board and the view new posts page, or is it just me? It's like one of those flickers that can set off an epileptic fit in someone who is sensitive to too much flickering. Even the icons on the left side of this message window are flickering. And the ones in this post are flickering in unison along with their original animations. Oh dear, it's like those flashing christmas lights, just flickering with every move the icons make. some kind of interuption from the smooth view we had before. Even the cursor marker is flickering. Am I in the twilight zone or what? doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo :infinity: Or am I just full of doo doo? :P Or, do I really need to upgrade my computer now that all these new fangled changes have been added. So now am I just an outdated, old foggie who needs a new computer in order to keep up with all this new techno stuff so the flickering stops and my pages don't hesitate when I try to scroll up or down, and I have to then wait till something has freed up my curser function? Is anyone else seeing and experiencing what I'm am here? Or do I need new glasses? (hey! I don't wear glasses to type. :P )

Not that I'm complaining....

:smt083 Just an unavoidable observation that's a new happening right in front of my eyes. :silly:

I know..... I'll go to sleep and it will be better in the morning.

Good night.....

Everything works great for me too Keith. I need to see if anything changed in the Chatroom... doubt it though. That is a seprarate piece of software.

Changes need to take place. Updates and upgrades for the former version of PHPBB have pretty much reached the end, meaning they woun't be issuing any more fixes in the future. If you don't keep up with upgrades, then just like Operating systems, Virus Protection and spyware scanners, you leave yourself prone to attacks. We don't need the Forum to be hacked now. :o

This package seems to be faster anyway. :D

I just had the funniest conversation with an Agnostic. She actually said, "I just don't think Jesus got it right on a lot of social issues." :hysterical: :smt005

LOL! He fed thousands on a few measly pieces of bread and fish and made wine from plain water... better than ANYTHING our poly-tickers can do!

side note: poly means many and ticks are blood sucking creatures.
