The Real Trinity please stand up!

Hi Tim,

Have you considered that the Holy Spirit is referred to as, He, first person singular?

And did you consider the feminine personification of Wisdom (Proverbs 8) or the seven spirits of God (Revelation 3:1)? so there must be 7 Holy Spirits? And the Holy Spirit sits on the other side of the Father if Jesus is on the other?

BTW, what is the name of the Holy Spirit?

I only know these:

יהוה

Hi Brother Mike,

Actually, the one God three persons idea came into the church around the 400's or 500's AD. it is stated that way in the Antanasian Creed. Modalism, too, was around very early on

Well, they revised the Trinity Doctrine in 381ad to include the Holy Spirit. It was not the ONE GOD thing though, but all of the same nature. Antanasian Creed is different than the original and puritians fight over the original and the Antanasian version. Some holding ot one, others holding on to the other. Thanks for sharing that though.

I like the original, less scriptural issues.

I did have a long discussion with JLB concerning the Holy Spirit being Female. We normally determine gender by what is between the tail so to speak, so my jury is out on if the Holy Spirit even has a tail.

It was just a question.

I hold to the original Nicene creed I actually reject the Anthanasian creed. I was just pointing out that the idea of one God three persons was not originally what the Trinity idea was.

LOL brother Mike. Heaven forbid that the HS is female maybe the Father then would not hear the end of the intercessory prayers (and talking). Just kidding with stereotypical ideas, ladies. Having fun only. :lol

Why are you one of the few people that understand that? How do you see it, and others here are lost in the fog?

The Original was designed to fight the idea that Jesus is a created being. Jesus has always been, always will, and is the I Am, just like His Father. Here before the foundation of the World, God just like His Father.

Jesus is not His Father though.

Thank you for saying that. It's refreshing that some can actually read around here when it comes to bible. Some folks loose all sense and ability to read simple things when talking about scriptures.

Thank you.

And they all said AMEN.

You're welcome. What I believe about the Trinity comes from the writings of the Ante-Nicene writings. Some of these early writers were actually taught by the apostles. Ignatius was taught by the apostle John and said this,

"Where is the wise man? where the disputer?” Where is the boasting of those who are called mighty? For the Son of God, who was begotten before time began, and established all things according to the will of the Father, He was conceived in the womb of Mary, according to the appointment of God, of the seed of David, and by the Holy Ghost. For says [the Scripture], “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and He shall be called Immanuel.”
Early Church Fathers - – Ante-Nicene Fathers: The Writings of the Fathers Down To A.D. 325.

Jesus is not His Father though.
And no Trinitarian (or anyone on this forum who is a Trinitarian) has ever made this egregious error.

So this is simply a strawman presented by you to allege that Christians don't really understand or believe the true doctrine of three Divine Persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) yet One God.

And the creeds and confessions are fine in their place, but ultimately it is the Word of God -- the Sword of the Spirit -- which determines what is true and what is false. No Christian can simply resort to a creed as the ultimate authority.

Sometimes the Word is not understood till it becomes flesh. Talking about the coming messiah, left some surprised at the manifestation of Jesus's life.

So...if a person rejects the Trinity what exactly do they believe?

I know that Oneness Pentecostals reject the Trinity...but I've never understood how they reconcile the Trinity speaking and appearing at Christ's Baptism or Christ at His Ascension explaining how He and His Father would send the Holy Spirit.

Or, Christ explaining how He and His Father are One.
