Growth Understanding Baptism ?

No. If that was true, Peter would not have directed Cornelius and his household to be water baptized after they received the Holy Spirit.

You are getting hung up on water as being literal. I know water in reference to "water of life", and living water.

John 7:38-39 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

No, I'm hung up on what it literally does for the person doing it, and that it is commanded to do so. And what it does is not what people who say we don't have to do it says it does. It is not done for the purpose of justification.

This has zero illustrative value in regard to the act of getting water baptized. It has much value in regard to what it's actually talking about. And it ain't water baptism.

ever get the feeling that they was more zeroed in on you than any thing else..my post of request for scripture must be invisible

It is not done for the purpose of justification.

On my first post on this thread I posted in all four gospels where John the Baptist was stating why he was doing water baptism.

He did that for repentance, but One more powerful will be coming and he will baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire. John was telling us all right there what is important.

I'm not going backwards in time, if John himself was looking forward to the day also.

This is from our church...... Grace Bible -. Pastor Thomas Bruscha

All saved persons have been made members of the Body of Christ by One divine baptism (this is baptism into the Body of Christ by the Holy Spirit). By that ONE BAPTISM, every member of the Body of Christ is identified with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. In light of the statement concerning the "ONE BAPTISM" in Ephesians 4:5 and the statement in I Corinthians 1:17

If somebody had taught them correctly about the meaning of water baptism all believers would get water baptized. But these very poor, misguided understandings of water baptism rob believers from recognizing God's command for the nations to be water baptized and it's importance in the life of the believer.

What value is there in telling believers they do not have to be water baptized?

You must be understanding that as some kind of justification in preparation for, or as a condition to, getting saved by Jesus. It's not. Peter plainly tells us it's "the pledge of a clear conscience toward God" (1 Peter 3:21 NASB). How in heaven or earth does that get replaced by the Holy Spirit?

In 1 Peter 3:21 it was speaking of Noah and the ark, the ark saved 8 people total. Jesus brought down the Holy Spirit into flesh (ark). Jesus is the ark. The baptism that now saves is the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit will and does wash your conscience, if you live and act upon the will of God.

John 14:20 On that day(the day you are baptized into the Spirit) you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.

ughhhhh honestly i say this as nice and respectful as i can. your not getting the point about baptism ..wake up and READ what has been posted please. BAPTISM DOES NOT SAVE US. it is a answering of a good conscience . did you read my previous post on symbolic just like communion ?????? on my part if i am fail to explain something please show me and i will try to explain it in a better way. my goodness once again read very close water baptism follows salvation --not salvation follows water baptism. { John 14:20 On that day(the day you are baptized into the Spirit) you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.} baptism of the spirit takes place the moment one gets saved. water baptism follows after one get saved. . why are you and grams getting the 2 mixed up? its either A. you don't understand or B YOU REFUSE TO understand or C . YOU want to argue just to have something to do. i like a good bible discussion but so far you have not even posted one scripture. that says there is no need to be baptized in most forums you post scripture to back up your post :wall:shrug please give scripture showing water baptism is void in them exact words thank you :amen
