Understanding The Law Of Moses - With The Help Of The Prophets And The Apostles

Ok thanks.

Now I have a hint as to how to go forward.

Jesus told the Religious leadership: by your traditions you undo the word of God.

Side notes of our favorite sources can be wrong. I basically quit reading commentaries. They can be pretty bad. Do I trust my comments? I hope my comments are correct. We should always have others monitoring our statements with scripture.

We can look at redneck notes:
Shadows of things to come
Types of people, places (?)
Concepts over context (?) (commandments contained in ordinances)

Anyone care to question / comment?

An ordinance is different than a commandment.

Context IS IMPORTANT in the 10 commandments given by God.
They are NOT a concept.

Lol it may be viewpoint.
I am looking at thou shall not as a thing you do not do. A concept.

To me (maybe not to you) a command to do something positive would list differently (under grace and empowerment.

1. thou shall have one true Hod
2. God made images to show his mature
3. You shall put on the nature of God in truth
4. We enter the rest Jesus worked for
5. Honor God and his Son
6. Thou shall teach life
7. Thou shall be a true bride of Christ
8. Thou shall provide at no cost
9. Thou shall be a true Witness ( by Holy Spirit)
10. Thou shall give what you have received

This is just a redneck first run.

Looking at the backside of God is sort of like the old law.

Seeing face to face is a different concept.

At this point I sort of see what I was taught in Mechanical drawing (in which I was pretty much a failure.

A thing you do not do....
There are also sins of omission, but that's not the point here.

What you've posted is all well and good.
But HOW does one reach that point of grace and and empowerment?
Surely with the help of the Holy Spirit.

BUT

Is it easier to list all the things YOU SHOULD DO to be in the Kingdom
or is it easier to list a few things you should NOT do?

Jesus gave the two great commandments.
If we just would follow those it would be sufficient.
But not to all believers. Some, especially the new, need to know
what to NOT do in order to remain in the Kingdom.

I teach kids our faith.
What should I teach them about the 10 commandments?
Should I not teach this?
HOW do I get them to know what to do and what not to do?

I like the isometric view.
You see ALL AROUND,,,, and not just one side.
We need BOTH the commandments to guide us
and the Holy Spirit to empower us.

LOL

The kingdom of God heads our way (into us).

It is not I that do it but Christ in me. Let me look it up.
Galatians 2:20 kjv
20. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

I teach kids our faith.
Which is not as easy task :study . Praise God you are there for the young ones :) .
What should I teach them about the 10 commandments?
Should it be taught like a history lesson ? :twocents

The two commandments of Jesus in Matthew 22 cover the 10 commandments .
Tell them there is now a much improved way of knowing right from wrong with the Holy Spirit living inside believers with the laws wrote on our minds and hearts .

One thing to say here this is me talking:drool and not teaching , big difference . The teacher will follow the leading of the Holy Spirit as to exactly what needs to taught . Which sister wondering already knows this :) .

And if the kids follow the instructions first time given they are good to go.

If they fall into what Israel did in sin. We might look deeper.

Hi Hawkman,
The problem is that young kids don't have any idea of what a concept is.
They only understand solid teachings.
At about the age of 11 they begin to be able to understand concepts.
So what must be done is to teach them obedience to God which includes the 10 commandments and also
how Jesus made it easier with only 2.
But this happens at the age of 11 and sometimes even later.
They do have an idea that God is in them.
This is so beautiful to me.
But if they were taught to only "listen to the Spirit", they'd have very little idea
what we would be speaking about.
And some Christians are like this too.
Teaching not to obey the commandments because we have the Spirit is dangerous, IMHO.

Our dummed down education system teaches that.

Romans 15:4 kjv
4. For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

We have a better covenant, and still we are instructed to use the history about Israel .

Why the law? What use is the law?

Use the law lawfully.

I was told I can not add 5&6 together.
Why? I don’t have enough fingers.

I have a solution. Put one number in your head and the other number on your fingers and add.
Response
I am not going to listen I Am not going to learn.
Outcome
They thought about the solution at home and got it. (in spite of themselves)

We keep on keeping on. Using history lawfully.
Exhort , rebuke with all long suffering

2 Timothy 4:2 kjv
2. Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

In regard to understanding .The Law of God it uses Moses to represent the law and the prophets (Elisa) the testimony of the law.

I understand that as the law of God it testifies he has spoken through the prophets .Called the law of faith or belief ( sola scriptura)

It is written in several ways .

Simply the living word of God

Luke 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures (sola scriptura) the things concerning himself.

Matthew 17:3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.(sola scriptura)

A transfer from the old testament prophets using Elijah giving the power to understand God as a testimony of the law through John the baptist

Luke 16:16-17 And he (John to represent new testimony prophets) shall go before him in the spirit and power (sola scriptura) of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, (sola scriptura) it is because there is no light in them

.Revelation 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses,(law and prophets sola scriptura) and they (God's word) shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

With the advent of Jesus obedience to God was made so much easier !

As far as age groups go the youngest should grasp what this means with very little explanation .
Matthew 22:37 “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.”
Matthew 22:39 “And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”

So what I am saying is your youngest students should get the two greatest commandments from Jesus first and the 10 commandments second . IMO . Or do you see it some other way ?

Concepts ? Are you teaching the youngest students about adultery and the sabbath ?

I am guessing here when I say that you are not quoting the 10 commandments out of the KJV to your youngest students . What is the format of the 10 commandments you are teaching the youngest students ?

LOL
No. You're right.
I start with the 11 year olds.
The little ones learn about the lost sheep, about how Jesus was born.
Simple things.

I emphasize that we're to know, love and serve God.
We're doing the Our Father right now, about 4 weeks now.
And each lesson is about God's love and our love towards Him and how
to bring the Kingdom to the world.

It's really nice to notice when one of them sees a light go off.

PS
And here you've hit upon the difference between the Old (Mosaic) Covenant and the New Covenant.
We still have to follow the rules God set for us...
but it's become easy - or, at least, easier.

In Matthew 5:17 or 21, thereabouts,
Jesus said that we had to EXCEED the pharisees in our righteousness.
What does that mean?
It means we don't do things because we feel obligated,
but because we want to.
It's always the heart.

I would like to hear y’all take the scripture Matthew 22:37
And do
Adam and Eve in the Garden what areas they had.

What humanity sunk to right before the flood.

What the 8 people from the ark had just after the flood.

What Israel had entering Canan. (Under The Law)

What the disciples of Jesus had.

What the apostles had

What we have today.

And briefly what Elementary, Middle School, High school should be.

About 50 words each level?

The point?

Where / What? Was (Under The Law Of Moses?)
We need some comparisons and contrasts.

Some KISS
Keep It Simple Stupid

Maybe
Adam and Eve
Bodies - Carnal Mind - Will - Emotions (hiding from God), extended physical life, - pain (leaving Eden), etc.
About 25 words. Not 50 paragraphs.

I am trying to let us answer wondering
And see progression and reversion. Over time.

You said that a concept is an idea or thought.
Why not just stick to that and be ahead?

Tying one's shoelaces is an action.

I thought I had already replied to the above.

You cannot list all the things you should DO.
It's like the law of a country/state/region.
It would be impossible.

You can only list what you should NOT DO.
It's easier.

And a law is not a concept.
The concept is the reason behind it.
