what are you listening to right now?

PS: questdriven: You never know if her willingness to come to WJ might have something to do with her new bf. You might even hear her listening to a bit of Christian rock, whether or not she admits she likes it, but, ... whatever. Blessings.

I bought my wife a CD of Christian hymns and songs, performed well, but I don't recall the name of the group; we have listened to it over and over.

Welcome to the Masquerade, by TFK

We've got the power, who's got the action
Break it down till there's nothing but a mere fraction
Out of the fire, rise from the ashes
Reject your doubt and release the passion
Let's get on it, believe if you want it
step into the realm where the real ones flaunt it
Come back, rewind, another time on it
Reach out, take that, but now step on it

I'm not one to scare the masses
But there's some things that melt the plastic
Try and dig down deeper if you can

I'm not afraid
I'm not ashamed
I'm not to blame
Welcome to the masquerade
I'm not ashamed
I'm not afraid
I'm not okay
Welcome to the masquerade
Welcome to the masquerade

My mom's always listening to Southern gospel and asking me if isn't this or that song so pretty. And I'm just like, "eh..." I imagine that's how she feels about the music I listen to.:lol We just have different tastes.

Sometimes it's a case of what one is accustomed to; if she goes to enough concerts such as WJ, or listens to your Christian rock enough, she might eventually get used to it, and even learn to appreciate it.

Blessings.

Yeah, Lexy's always been a bit of a tomboy but she did like Sailor Moon, too, that was girly.
lol I never watched Sailor Moon, but I remember when it came on TV.

While at an anime con this weekend I bought a couple of volumes of the Naruto manga. Since my brother's so into the anime, I was curious. I also got some Bleach manga, after receiving the first volume for my birthday. There are hundreds of volumes, though, and I believe the series is still ongoing, so I'm not going to bother trying to catch up on all of it.

I wonder if any of those older ones are on Netflix?
We stream Netflix for $8.00 pr. month.

Maybe, but Netflix has a habit of removing anime after a while. Plus Naruto and DBZ have several hundred episodes, and I doubt Netflix has them all. I do plan to get it streaming sooner or later.

Cruncyroll is a good site to watch anime on, but they're mainly licensed to air the Japanese versions. So if you want an English dub you have to look elsewhere.

And anime that's aired on TV tends to be overly censored. Well, unless we're talking Toonami, which is part of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. Toonami airs anime late on Saturday nights.

Why would it be censored?

Well, as anime is a product of another country, Japan tends to have different standards. There are a few reasons. It's kinda hard to explain...^^; Let us say that many anime series are not intended for kids, although they may not be X-rated or anything like it. (I wouldn't watch anything X-rated.)
If the anime is being aired on a kid's network, then usually the censoring makes sense. Some overdo the censorship, though, and as a result the anime gets really dumbed down. Ever heard of bowlderizing? (Sort of like how some fairy tales were altered to seem less scary for children.)

I think I see what you might mean. Kind of, if it depicts stringy bikinis, for example, it might be thought of as somewhat more raw and immediate than for prime time children's viewing, or whatever.
