what does it mean to you .

guys...you all know the rules.
We need substantive posts that are filled with thoughtful and reasoned points made here. Not argumentative questions or statements.
they do not need to be long but they do have to avoid using the second person personal pronoun.

if you find your post gone it may not have actually broken a rule but it quoted one that did.

I would say God predestined us in Christ from the foundation of the world for God knew we would sin and need redemption through the blood of Christ for what the law could not do Christ did in being the final blood sacrifice for all sin to those who will accept Him as Lord and Savior. Man was created to take care and enjoy all of Gods creation, but blew it. God never hated man for the fall, but loved him enough to give us His only begotten Son so we can once again enjoy the glory of the Lord.
Genesis 2:15-18; Ephesians 1:1-14

the issue will never be solved GOD CHOSE US so that we would bear fruit..its not a prideful thing as some has hinted. i started the thread and wished i could close it.

He "chose us in Christ" before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless before Him.

what does this mean to you .

It means what it says to those who he chose. Yep. Way back, before the foundation of the world, before anything was made, God chose us. Eph. 1:4

good point John 1:17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. the law was our schoolmaster till christ came. the law had its place and to some degree was perfect. till man got a hold of it . we all are guilty of adding our own legalistic beliefs . to scriptures

Probably one of the more truthful observations.

As to the opening post it is very likely that we had some type of pre-existence to this current life, at least in the Mind of God. To be "chosen" before the foundation of the world is also to be known prior to. To be known prior to is to also have existed. Some say this is Christ being known prior to and to that I can't disagree, but I think it also means that God in Christ knew exactly who would be "in Him" prior to them existing and it's back to the same logic circle above. If Christ has been and will be eternally equal with/to God it is presumable that those "in Him" have been known from the beginning, even if we can't perceive that matter. If we are a work, a "creation" of God, then God has known us just as much as He knows and has known Himself.

Acts 15:18
Known unto God are all his works from the beginning
of the world.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

I don't buy into the randomness of creation that some schools of theology present. That God "created" and then just sat back and let randomness run it's course to see what happens. Nay. As soon as we concede to Gods Active Present Hands in creation all of that evaporates and free will (another word for randomness) flies out the door on it's ear and nothing is random, everything is known and in fact was known by God beforehand.

Some find that comforting and some find that frightening.

Correct.
People who reject Christ rejected the faith he gave them to even know the gospel is true in the first place.
Respectfully, I would think that a person is either able to believe or they're not.
What about 1 Corinthians 1: 6-31? Paul is saying that God intends to bring to nothing the wise and prudent by choosing the lowly and foolish. The Gospel is like judgment, intended to sift in a way that only credits God for anyone believing. If this is true what Paul says, then not everyone is equally enabled to believe.

He "chose us in Christ" before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless before Him.

what does this mean to you .

One must understand that there was an age before this one we are currently in,and another coming after. In other words we were with God before the rebellion of lucifer.

That's how He knew us,and that's why some were justified and chosen and ordained.

Jeremiah 1:4 "Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,"

Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations."

It was in that first earth age that Paul, Jeremiah and all the others that are of the elect came to that standing before the Lord, and Paul discussed this in both Ephesians 1:4 and Romans 11:7, 8.

Ephesians 1:4 "According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundations of this world [earth age], that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love:"

This means that there were certain people that God chose in the first earth age to do a task for Him in this age of the flesh man. This is not reincarnation, for it is appointed for each of us to go through this earth age, the flesh earth age, once and only once. This appointing took place before the foundations of our present second earth age [cosmos] was even formed.

Ephesians 1:5 "Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,"

"Predestined" means "from a prior time", or "required to do a certain thing" in the Greek. You have a choice of loving God, or loving Satan. God will not interfere with your free will choice to chose Him or Satan. However, the person that proved himself during the overthrow by Satan were "justified" in that first earth age and earned the right then to be called "saints". Each soul comes from God and enters the embryo at conception. This is why both Jeremiah and Paul and anyone of the elect [chosen] were known by God before they even entered into the embryo in their mothers womb.

"Sanctified thee" means that this person was "set aside, or apart for a certain purpose". Their sins still have to be repented and the price of the blood of Christ still hast to be paid, but the Spirit of God will work in their lives to cause them to do that purpose that God intends them to do.

Paul's "will" first was to kill and beat up on Christians, and take them prisoners, however God struck Paul down on that road to Damascus and changed Paul's life to fit the "will" that God had for his life, and he became the leader of the Christian world.

Romans 11:7 "What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded" (continued into the next verse.)

Romans 11:8 "(According as it is written, "God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and earths that they should not hear)."

The elect will see the mysteries of God, while the others will not see because they have the spirit of slumber on them. God is not a respecter of persons not does he have favorites among men. The elect were judged in that first earth age because they have already made a stand against Satan, and God can interject into their life when ever He so chooses. The "elect" though must also pass through this age of the flesh. They must be born from "above" [again], and in the birthing water sack like all babes in the flesh are born, and by faith repent to the Father in Jesus name for their sins. Some souls of the first earth age did not come to earth through the womb, as we read of in Jude 1-6, and they are set aside for judgment along with Satan.
