I agree. However, pure evil does exist and we won’t experience the utopia you describe until the world to come.If everyone could demonstrate love, people could have heaven on earth.
But to your point, we are called to walk as Jesus walked and that means laying our life down in order that others may be saved.
If you would afford me the opportunity, let’s talk about evil. I mean, let’s get a biblical view on what evil looks like.
We often associate evil with bad behavior and we often draw these black and white lines in the sand about what is evil, and what is good.
In Leviticus 23, we see all of the high holidays mentioned and how they are to be conducted. Ironically, Moses interjects for the second time that farmers are to leave the corners of their fields as a way for God to provide for the orphan, widow and alien. Why is this the second time Moses mentions this and why is it with the highest holidays in Israel’s memory?
Simple... don’t let your religion get in the way of doing what’s right.
You see, to allow harm ( in this case hunger and malnutrition) to another when God has provided you with the means to assist them is in fact the very face of evil.
Jesus uses an example of this when he healed on the Sabbath and uses the example of saving a donkey from a ditch. To allow another to be harmed when you have the means to prevent it is a sin.
In the case of the Police, it’s their job to help others in need, and to prevent harm to others, even if that means bringing deadly force against the one who will not stop harming others or who are in the act of harming others.
This man has a sexual record with a minor. If you had a daughter and you walked in on a man sexually assaulting her, would you allow it, or would you try and prevent further harm from occurring to your daughter even if it meant killing him to save her?
Jesus went to the cross to save all humanity, yet not all will be saved. Those who will not be saved are those who reject good and love the darkness. To those, their condemnation is deserved.
