The Babylon in revelation - the great city that rules over the nations is utterly destroyed and is never occupied again. That doesn't speak to me of Jerusalem the Holy City (rev 11) where God has chosen to put His name if that's your premise. We read in Zach 14 the mount of olives is split in two to make a way of escape from the surrounding armies not of utter destruction by fire. In Rev 11 we read of a earthquake the kills 7000 people not utter destruction by fire. I think the earth quake is when the mount of olives is split in two. Same City and the same time of the end.
Zach 14- The same cIty in regard to Rev 11.
You will flee by my mountain valley, for it will extend to Azel. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah

Babylon the great city utterly destroyed by fire. I get the impression of a nuke being used by the beats armies.

The beast that ascends out of of the bottomless Pitt will take Jerusalem and kill those who protect it.I expect they will destroy about all of the cities in Israel because they hate the prostitute.

Revelation 11
7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.



Does this city sound like holy Jerusalem to you?

See how the faithful city has become a prostitute! She once was full of justice; righteousness used to dwell in her— but now murderers!

Yes the beast will overpower and kill the two witnesses after their testimony has been completed. But Babylon in Rev can not be Jerusalem for that city will be utterly destroyed by fire and never to be inhabited again. I still think this future Babylon will be in the land of Shinar and is nuked and in a single day is destroyed and gone for good. The man of lawless actually occupies the temple declaring himself to be God.

But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will trample on the holy city for 42 months

That city will remain even though it is invaded.

From my understanding,Jerusalem is nuked three days after the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit kills the two witnesses.On the day a cloud rises from Jerusalem into the heavens and there is a severe earthquake.
The people in Jerusalem ,their flesh shall be consumed as they stand on their feet and those outside the city shall flee to the mountains.

It takes place on the day of the Lord.

I guess my understanding differs then. Israel does not offer a commodity that the world will sell its soul to obtain. This future Babylon will make Dubai look like the slums. And as I presented the future house of wickedness is built in the land of shinar. Currently Iraq. That region does have vast oil reserves which in future years will become very valuable to the nations of the world. Jerusalem is the location God has chosen to write His name and that City will remain. The economic powerhouse city that the beast and his armies destroy by fire in a single day never to be inhabited again does not fit Jerusalem.

But its ok to disagree.

You've never heard of the Samson option have you?
It's a policy of the Israeli government to destroy itself and everyone else that attacks it.The policy is to destroy its own land and its own people.Israel is the only country I know of that has a policy like that.

Isaiah 14:19-20
But you are cast out of your tomb like a rejected branch; you are covered with the slain, with those pierced by the sword, those who descend to the stones of the pit. Like a corpse trampled underfoot,
you will not join them in burial, for you have destroyed your land and killed your people. Let the offspring of the wicked never be mentioned again.

Three days after the beast from the pit has killed the two witnesses and taken control of Jerusalem(Israel's capital),there is a severe earthquake in Jerusalem and a cloud departs Jerusalem and rises into the heavens.The two witnesses ascend in that cloud.
This is recorded in revelation 11.

Some think dinosaurs died from a meteor. That probably looked like a star falling.

What our sun is?:
Nuclear fission and fusion?

Our little weapons pale in comparison.

Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by God from heaven.

Given enough time we may discover an ocean disaster happens in the past (fish died). Another star?

What is my point?
That some things have happened in the past by God, and may happen again at Gods hand (in the future).
