Why Faith Alone?

Baptism is an Old Covenant work of the law.
Again you just ignore what I post and just re-post your opinions.

Baptism is not an Old Covenant work of the Law and you provide no evidence that it is.
Jesus said to the apostles "He who believes and is baptized will be saved"
Why do you not believe Jesus?

Under the New Covenant Christians are saved and justified by faith. Faith in Christ and his Gospel, Ephesians 1:13.

Eph1:13 doesn't say we are saved by faith alone.
Nowhere in scripture does it say that under the New Covenant we are saved by faith alone.
Jesus said to the apostles "He who believes and is baptized will be saved"
That's Faith + Baptism = Salvation

There is none righteous, Romans 3:10. Because all are born after Adam, Romans 3:12. We are all corrupt and need to be changed, 1 Corinthians 15:54. We establish the law by being "In Christ" Romans 5:1.
Rom.5:1 says to be in Christ, is to walk after the Spirit. To walk after Christ, is to love others as he does, whether Jew or gentile, because we're all in need of his grace.

For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Gal.5:15

Our Lord said it was because,

every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not Mt.7:26

In Mt.5-7, Jesus was expounding on the law of Moses, which shows us we've all sinned and should love the mercy of God,
like the Pharisee/ publican parable,

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Lk.18;14
Yes sir, very true. Glad you understood. Nice you let the Bible answer it as well, best way.

I might put my 2 cents in here Mungo, you are correct no one is saved by faith alone, nor are they saved by baptism alone, and you said nothing about the doing of God's will in salvation either Mat 7:21. Salvation is based on many things, with baptism just being one step in the growth process.

I believe the Bible teaches salvation is by faith alone, because

For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 1Cor.1:21

God deliberately chose something that is foolish to the thinking of this world?.....which is necessary to be saved?

Why would God do that? I believe the reason is, because to live by faith in this world, humility is necessary.

It's humbling to admit we've deeply hurt someone who loves us dearly, but sinners can avoid that humbleness when they think it's foolish to believe in God to begin with.

No such thing in scripture as “faith alone”.

That is as big of an oxymoron as “affordable healthcare“.

Faith must have the “work” or corresponding action of obedience in order for faith to be complete; and therefore able produce the intended divine result of justification, salvation, healing, or righteousness to name a few, otherwise faith remains dormant, inactive or “dead”, just as a body without a spirit is complete and therefore dead.

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. James 2:26

The “works” being mentioned in the context is obedience; what Paul calls the obedience of faith.

Also, Paul says we are saved by grace through faith. So there is no such thing as being saved by grace “alone” or faith “alone”.

We are saved by faith alone, because the "grace" that saved us is the work that God performed, his forebearance, which Jesus demonstrated toward people who deserved death. People are saved only by faith in his grace, which mankind had nothing to do with, except believe in.
Works begin after that.

I never mentioned "works".

I mentioned the work of obedience; the obedience of faith.

Do you understand only those who obey the Gospel are saved?

I do understand. I'm just pointing how by his own grace in in not judging sinners is why we're saved. He could have ended our lives many times.

we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith... Rom.1:5

Problem is that you don't love your neighbor as yourself. Go sell all that you have and give it to your neighbor.

Sinners are indeed punished.

Grace is something as well as Someone.

Grace is the God given ability given to a person that empowers them to do what they can not do on their own.

Grace is the Holy Spirit; the Spirit of grace.

What you are describing is God's mercy.

Problem is that you don't love your neighbor as yourself. Go sell all that you have and give it to your neighbor.
I've used my house for many years to shelter people in need. Not through any organization, but just from hearing about them through the grapevine. When did our Lord tell you he wants me to sell? 😊

I know my friend, but before they are, God shows sinners great mercy

You say Holy Spirit. I say Jesus. I have no problem either way.
What you are describing is God's mercy.
I'm describing the mercy his grace showed.

Helping the homeless is a good work, but it is not going to save you. "Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, didn't we?" Matthew 7:21-23.

I mean after all the vile things that were done to him, after 3 days, he showed himself still living. The people who did those filthy things to him were still alive too. Why?
There will be a judgment when all sins will be judged. It has not happened yet. The only way to escape the judgment is to be found "In Christ" Romans 8:1.

Helping the homeless is a good work, but it is not going to save you.
That depends on who is doing the work and why. An abused woman and her children may come to know Christ because of his work in me.

"Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, didn't we?" Matthew 7:21-23.
I hope on that day you and I say, "Lord, Lord, didn't You!

I like ya bro. I've read your posts. I like to know why people believe the way they do. I've heard you say a couple times, that Jesus came in our name. He didn't. He came in our Fathers' name. Read the scriptures that way.
