these mass shootings --keep-- happening. this isn't a political post, btw...I'm just asking that y'all keep this nation up in prayer. there's something seriously wrong with US culture when things like this have become so common that most of us are fairly well desensitized.

I really doubt their use actually contributed to the phenomenon, and think such a simple prescription should have absolutely nothing to do with second amendment rights. Lots of people are on SSRIs with no such issues. Much more is going on with these perps.

Our Nation sure needs prayer! This problem is definitely a symptom, of a LOT that is wrong with our society as a whole.

Even if that's true of 100% of cases, taking an SSRI is by no means a predictor of trying to become a mass shooter in a school. There's WAY more going on with those perps.

Look at stats of all those that take SSRIs, and how many of them make any attempt at becoming a mass murderer. Even qualify that to only include those who own guns already. You're not going to find any causal relationship. If there were one we'd have WAY more mass shootings! Lots of people have taken these drugs, for a very long time. The problems with this drug use are very different. Mainly that they were never designed for long term use in the first place, and those prescribing them aren't doing anything to get their patients off the drug, ever. We don't have a pattern of long term users (read: older folks) trying to shoot up schools. Those doing so are too young to be experiencing the problems associated with long term use.

Marijuana doesn't cause people to go kill a bunch of folks, either. Which isn't to say long term use of either class of drug is problem free.

We've been trying to get away from closing threads in favor or redirecting them, so I'm sorry that this one can't be salvaged. Christ_empowered specifically said in his OP that, being started in the Prayer Forum, his was not a political statement. Two posts later, it went from a call to prayer to just what it was said not to be.

Hot Topics would be an appropriate forum for the discussion that this quickly became; not a forum designated for prayer requests and praise reports.
