Youthful intercourse is okay

Another Pastor.

He is of the opinion that the youth could decide to have sex...he claims it helps to prepare them for the real thing: Marriage. (A little paraphrased)

Y'know, I have a friend who thinks that and we've discussed that a little bit from time to time. To me, abstinence until marriage is just common sense based on the fact that no other form of birth control is 100% effective. I'd rather not risk ending up with a kid out of wedlock, thanks. That's not the only reason, but it's enough of a reason on it's own.

Sounds like they are a pastor at a rather liberal church. This is completely in contradiction to what the bible teaches about intercourse, as it should only occur within the confines of marriage, and only between a husband and a wife.

Garbage like this should be publicly rebuked in the strongest manner by the church. This pastor is showing he knows nothing about being freed from the bondage of the flesh and coming under the control of the Holy Spirit. He is NOT a man of God that we should even be considering his authority as a Pastor. He is to be rebuked and separated from Christianity. How can someone who shows they know nothing about the power of the Holy Spirit to live righteously be respected as a leader in the church?

..but a prayer and Bible study habit is a more effective means than the sort of thing than can be bought at the pharmacy.

People don't always do what you tell them to, even if it is for their benefit. Sometimes they make mistakes.

6 The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; 7 the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God." (Romans 8:6-8 NIV1984)

What I found out is your Church's youth group should be viewed as a place for evangelizing unbelievers--those who are not yet born again. To think that the kids going to your church are believers because they love going there and have lots of fun and even seem to be 'getting into it' is IMO a very, very big mistake. It seems few young people in Church youth groups do not become immoral but in fact abandon what they've been taught in youth group after they graduate high school and move on from their youth group. It's sad, but it's true.

Without a genuine born again experience it's impossible to live for God. That's why Jesus said you must be born again, or from above, to see the Kingdom of God.

What do you do if a girl gets pregnant if the pastor only preaches abstinence?

Good question, but in terms of the OP kind of along the lines of "apples and oranges".

There's a big difference between dealing with the engine that blew in your car because it was out of oil, and the mechanic who told you it was OK to run that engine without oil in the first place. :lol

There's also a big difference between dealing with someone who has sinned, and a "supposed" man of God telling them that it's OK to sin in the first place.

If the senior Pastor agrees with the youth Pastor then they are rejecting that of what God has said about this and teaching a different gospel. You can teach the youth to abstain, but it is really going to be a choice they have to make and should be making it by what God has already said about this if they are truly walking with the Lord, even as young as they are.

Colossians 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
Colossians 3:6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

That sounds great, but didn't answer my question.

Perhaps, but that didn't stop members in this thread from commenting on it. I merely wondered what they would do.

It was not a response to a question but what you stated:

"People don't always do what you tell them to, even if it is for their benefit. Sometimes they make mistakes.".

The answer to the question of our youth getting pregnant is Jesus. But even Jesus says that few will choose him as the answer to the failings of human flesh.

I understand quite well the temptation and attraction of the world and the desires of the flesh, even as a born again Christian. But I also understand what a treasure the grace of God is to ultimately overcome them. Being 'born again' means being birthed into the nature of Christ, the second Adam, and then growing up and maturing into that inherited nature. Just as we were all born the first time into the nature of the first Adam and grew up and matured over time into that inherited nature.

That's what our young people need to know about before and after they fall.

He is an idiot. Giving up your virginity before you marry is one of the worse things you can do.
