n order to read the last book of the Bible for all its worth you have to understand the symbolism, which is drawn from the culture of the time in which it was written. Many scholars believe Revelation was written during the reign of the Roman Emperor Domitian who ruled from 81-96 A.D..
But...
America is not only demon infested...but Western Christianity also is. Just look at all the people who are so easily deceived by tv end time preachers. Jack Van Impe, Hal Lindsey, Prophecy in the News. Shoehorning scripture into modern day events to sell books. No matter how many times they...
I used to believe in a rapture. But when I started to read the scriptures by keeping historical and especially cultural context in mind...the belief crumbled. It became clear to me I was wrong and had to re-examine everything. In the past I was trying to shoehorn verses into modern day...
The greek word used for "World" doesn't mean world. It means known world or in this case Roman world. The same greek word is used when describing the Roman Empire's "world"-wide census. Obviously they didn't do a census of the WHOLE WORLD. The Bible makes it clear the census was related to...
Well, since the Beast was the old Roman empire (we know this by studying the historical context of scripture) Then the Image of the Beast would likely be the "talking statues" they had back in ancient times in the temples.
What many don't realize about these "blood moon" prophecies...is that they are entirely inaccurate. What you will hear from TV preachers is that the blood moons have been consistantly aligned with major events.
What they don't tell you is that is not entirely true. Less then half of the...
As with most prophets now days...he's false. He once said that Jesus was currently inhabiting a jewish man's body. That the Messiah will come but won't know he's the Messiah until later when he "awakens"
Most prophets in our generation are false. Futurism is a multi-million dollar industry.
Were they surrounded? Yes, that's just basic geography. As for the other highlighted verses...yes it happened symbolically, as is obvious when compared to OT language.
A third of men is not literal. We see it's not by looking back at Revelation 8:12 where it says "a third of the sun, moon and starts were smitten so a third of them might be darkened and the day might not shine for a third of it."
If only a Third of the sun is smitten, then how can there be...
Yes...but according to dispensationalism this is a far off future event. That is what I am trying to learn...where do dispensationalists believe in the bible it describes this event?
There is something I am curious about. While I do not share the pre-trib belief I am curious on something that I have not been able to find an answer to.
In the pre-trib belief Matt 24 is a future event. So, my question is...if that is the case, where in the bible does it describe the...
You keep bringing up this verse without going into the historical context behind Matthew 24. All evidence points to Matt 24 taking place around 70ad. Which means you have taken your favorite verse out of context completely.
Revelation 3:10 has been horribly mistranslated.
The word "keep" in the original greek is "tereo" which means to attend carefully, take care of, to guard. As for "The whole world" The word used for world is oikoumenē (or ecumene) which is always used to refer to the known or in this case Roman...
YES...thankfully Futurism is dying. Even old Mr Jack Van Impe has said that. (Allthough he sees it as a bad thing) I think it's great to see it happening...it means we are getting back to what early Christians believed about the scripture instead of this made-up hogwash deception.
Matthew 24 is the warning to the apostles and all Christians that the end of the age was coming soon. And it did come. It was the worst tribulation in Christian history that we have not seen since.
My question is...if Matthew 24 teaches a future event and rapture. Then where in the Bible does it talk about the destruction of the Temple and the seige and destruction of Jerusalem along with the mass persecution of Christians like has never been known since?
