You don't work to get the righteousness of God. It's a free gift of his grace received by believing in God's promise of a Son who inherits the blessing on your behalf, not received through the effort of your righteous works. Just as that was true of Abraham, our example of how we also are justified through faith in the promise apart from works.

Paul was a Pharisee. He knew and studied Scripture as priest.
The Seed of the Word was already planted in his life.
The hinderance was that he only knew the letter of the Law.
The Holy Spirit [Christ] illuminated that Word in his life and he was converted.

No, only those who receive the promise of forgiveness through Jesus by faith, apart from working for it, have eternal life.

If you are sure Abraham, our example, was made righteous by work - any work - what work did he do to become righteous? Romans 4:2-3, Romans 4:21-24.

Acts 9:3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:

4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

When Paul called Him "Lord" that's the moment he was saved.
Every knee shall bow....

So you must according to free-will choose to believe and remain in a state of belief until death? Right?

Yes, your believing is what makes you righteous, not your righteous works.
And you must remain a believer to the very end in order for the righteousness that comes from God and delivers from death to remain in you.

You believe God's promise and become righteous. You do not work to become righteous. Just as that was true of Abraham, our example of "righteousness apart from works" (Romans 4:2, Romans 4:3, Romans 4:6, Romans 4:23-24).

If you disagree with that, list the work(s) that Abraham did in order to become righteous, and where it says that in the Bible.

Suffering for Christ, patiently enduring hardship without sinning, doing all kinds of righteous rituals and works in holiness, is not how a person becomes righteous. That is the works justification gospel condemned in scripture. A person becomes righteous on the basis of believing the promise of God regarding his Son. Just as that was true of Abraham, our example of how we, also, are made righteous by faith in the promise apart from works (Romans 4:23-24).

Careful there because ones believing is their act, a work,

Scripture teaches that Christs One Obedience makes many righteous Rom 5:19

19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
