I'm on a mobile conversation with friends right now. Topic meandered to "church and taxes". I have no biblical opinion on this subject (unless one can provide one).

One person mention about a pastor that has more than two private jets...for this reason churches should be taxed - because it is all about business.

Hope to get some clues here and reply back to them.

private jets? list that church?

huh? I haven't gotten a sac yet.

I don't believe there's anything in the Word that excuses an individual or institution from paying taxes. That includes the church.

ok, so you wouldn't mind paying more to help the poor? a church should pay property taxes which at times can be used to support sin?

I have an issue with the idea of how the irs does the church with that. it can regulate the churchs free speech. so your tithes shouldn't be tax deductible? oops.

I add there are church in my town that sit on multi-million dollar plots that aren't big compared to some homes but are worth that because of location.

A portion of the taxes the government takes from your paycheck goes to support abortions.

:thinking

It is the churchs responsibility to help/support the widows and orphans.... Not the governments ....

Kenneth Copeland has five private jets. Lear, I believe it is.

FFRF has petitioned the IRS to crack down on churches. I was listening to Family Talk radio the other day. It appears the IRS and FFRF have entered into a private agreement, which is believed to be illegal due to transparency laws, regarding FFRF's contention against churches and their speech from the podium.

IRS Agrees to Target and Monitor Churches, Because Angry Atheists Demanded It?

that isn't a tithe. if I give to a church I like to control where all the money goes, if I see it, I don't like they don't get money and no a portion of my taxes doesn't fund abortions. florida doesn't pay for it, its illegal. if they are doing It then are doing it from out of state. some states do that, but that is off topic. florida legally doesn't pay for abortions unless its defined under the medicare act.

I will not play games with you Gary.

Who's playing games? I stated I wouldn't mind paying more to help the poor and you came back with "why?".

You are an intelligent person. You know what I mean.

Actually I don't. Why don't you explain.

again if the church is taxed, how then will you not pay more to help the poor? less will go to them. that is why the irs allowed for taxable donations. when I gave tithes the irs gave me more back in taxes. I already will owe this year, the next year. lucky me. so all that will do is for some discourage giving.
