    Any horror movie fans?

I've been a fan of horror films for as long as I can remember. My favs are still the old Universal classics. That was good film making. Also enjoy the Hammer films of the 50's, 60's, and early 70's. Have to say that most modern horror films leave me disinterested. Too many of them rely on gore...

Just a friendly Warning about Watchmen.

Having read the original comics when they were first released, and waiting 20 years for the movie, I was pleased with the film. Yes, it does have extreme violence, it has nudity, and it does have sex. All of which were in the original comics. It also has all of the angst, anger, drama, and...

    Best sci-fi - & why??

Given the amount of scifi movies that I've watched in life putting together a top 10 list is not easy. Still, here is my shot at that list. Note, some of the films might stretch the meaning of science fiction. 1, Gattica 2, The Day the Earth Stood Still(The Original Version) 3, Forbidden...

    House

Two bits of trivia. 1, When Laurie first additioned for the series, he went for the role of Wilson! He thought that Wilson was going to be the main character. Latter he learned that Greg House was going to be the main character and that Wilson was intended to be a late 20's, early 30's, age...

    Best historical/period drama - & why??

My favorite was, and still is, the HBO series Rome. While the actual history was somewhat truncated, the series did an excellent job of capturing the feel and cultural realities of theperiod. All without overlaying modern moral contexts on the characters.

    The Dark Knight

IMO, this one tops the previous 5 films. Otherwise I would not have seen it twice when it was still in the threaters and bought it on DVD the day it was relased. While individual tastes vary, I felt that it was the only Batman film that completely caotured the feel of the characters and managed...

    Harry Potter

Then she did rather poor research. I've read stories from the 1920's and 30's that had more detail and insight then Harry Potter.

    Best sci-fi - & why??

Another great sci-fi that, IMO, does not get the credit it deserves is Silent Running. Also, check out the directers cut of The Abyss.

    Best horror/chiller - & why??

While not falling into the typical slasher genre, I have to say that the original Psycho is my all time favorite. Well written, well directed, and well acted. Yes, it is quite dated now. Still, Tony Perkins gives the right amount of angst and sorrow to keep you interested all the way to the...

    Best sci-fi - & why??

About 15 years ago the author Ray Bradbury was offered a chance to write a remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still". He turned the offer down. Instead, he wanted to write a sequeal that had the aliens returning because we had failed to listen to their warning. It would have delt with earth...
