I agree that Jehovah is the false name. Do you use and praise His true name, Yahweh?

The word in the Old Testament was YHWH.

The New Testament teaches us that Jesus is the Name of the LORD; YHWH the LORD God.

Jesus is the Name above all names.

Jesus is the Name that represents the Godhead, because all the fullness of the Godhead dwells in Him bodily.

For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;
Colossians 2:9

It was the LORD Jesus Christ (His Spirit) that spoke through the Old Testament Prophets.

Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. 1 Peter 1:10-11

It was the Son who created the heavens and the earth.

But to the Son He says:
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever;
A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.
You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.”
And:
You, LORD, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands

Hebrews 1:8-10

Jesus is the Name of the LORD; YHWH the LORD God.

The word in the Old Testament was YHWH.
How is it pronounced?

The New Testament teaches us that Jesus is the Name of the LORD; YHWH the LORD God.
How can you explain the following verse? Which name should be hallowed?

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. (Matthew 6:9).

Jesus is the Name of the LORD; YHWH the LORD God.

The name of the Messiah could not have been “Jesus”. There is no sound “J” in Hebrew, Latin or Greek. The letter “J” came into English language after Shakespeare: The original 1611 King James Version of the Bible did not have the name “Jesus”.

Yup, thanks be to God in the name of Jesus Christ.
My true repentance from sin happened on Nov 1, 2008, after my last sin.
So I just started my 17th year in Christ...and in the light.
I am glad to hear that. Does this mean that during these 17 years you not even once violated your conscience?

The Hebrews use Y for J, and the Greek use the letter I for Jesus. For example, Jesus' name in Greek is Ihsous, which is a transliteration from the Hebrew for the name Joshua.

That is correct...may God be praised.

"Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;" (1 Peter 4:1)

Now let’s look at a verse from Hebrews.

For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. Hebrews 4:8 NKJV

For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
Hebrews 4:8 KJV

Do you know the original language the book of Hebrews was written in during the first century?

JLB

The Hebrews use Y for J, and the Greek use the letter I for Jesus. For example, Jesus' name in Greek is Ihsous, which is a transliteration from the Hebrew for the name Joshua.
If Hebrews use Y for J, his name in Hebrew could not be Joshua.

Transliteration is the conversion of text from one alphabet to another without changing the pronunciation. For example, the Russian word “Москва” is transliterated into English as “Moskva”, not “Moscow”. Therefore, Ihsous in Greek and Jesus in English are not the translitiration of the Hebrew name of the Saviour. The transliteration of his name into English which conveys the true pronunciation and preserves the meaning “Yahweh is salvation” is Yahshua (YAH – first part of the name Yahweh and SHUA meaning “salvation”).

It wasn’t.

They would skip over it.

It was referred to as The Four Letters.
And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the Lord [YHWH] God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations. (Exodus 3:15).

If this name YHWH was not pronounced, how did Moses say it to Israelites? And how the name is memorial without pronouncing it?

That is correct...may God be praised.

"Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;" (1 Peter 4:1)
I am glad to hear that.

What do you think about the true Names of the Father and Son which we are currently discussing with other members? It is relevant to the topic of sin, because the great commandment is to love God. Do we love Him if we don't use and glorify His Name?

Please see the explanation about the transliteration above.
Now let’s look at a verse from Hebrews.

If this name YHWH was not pronounced, how did Moses say it to Israelites? And how the name is memorial without pronouncing it?

And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.’ Exodus 3:14

Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”
Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by. John 8 58-59

Why did the Jews pick up stones to stone Him when He said I AM?

Now let’s look at a verse from Hebrews.
You did not answer the important question. How can you explain the following verse? Which name should be hallowed?

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. (Matthew 6:9).

For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. Hebrews 4:8 NKJV

Hebrews 4:8 KJV

Do you know the original language the book of Hebrews was written in during the first century?

There is evidence that the original language of the book of Hebrews was Hebrew.

You did not answer the important question. How can you explain the following verse? Which name should be hallowed?

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. (Matthew 6:9).

What name is that?

I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. John 17:11

Does it seem reasonable that God the Father has the Name above all names?

Does it seem unreasonable that God the Father would name His only begotten Son after Himself?

And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.’ Exodus 3:14

Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”

Why did the Jews pick up stones to stone Him when He said I AM?
I AM - the first part of the name Yahweh. But IM - is not the name, but the explanation of the name.

I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. (Isaiah 42:8)

If God’s name is I AM, Why God says that His name is the LORD [YHWH]?

There is evidence that the original language of the book of Hebrews was Hebrew.

Exactly.

Why do you suppose that the scholars of the KJV and the scholars of the NKJV came up with different names; Joshua and Jesus ?

They both mean the same thing. Salvation; the LORD is salvation.

Yᵉhôwshûwaʻ, yeh-ho-shoo'-ah; or יְהוֹשֻׁעַ Yhôwshuʻa;

I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. (Isaiah 42:8)

Who do you was speaking here?

Speaking by the Holy Spirit, I don't think God cares what you call Him.
Our obedience and love counts for far more than any title would ever affect Him.
As God knows what we are thinking when we pray and talk with Him, concerns for how He is addressed don't matter.

Would YOU care if the love of your life; wife, kids, whatever, referred to you as "Joe" or "Joseph": "Dad", "Daddy", or "Pops"; Mister Smith" or "Smitty"; "Speedy" or "Slow-poke"; or any other name when they address YOU?
