Are Muscular women attractive?

Well here is a video of a strong cheerleader who is also very religious.

Of course she wears her spirituality on her sleeve and is not shy about it. She'll knock you on your butt if you give her any grief about it...and I'm talking to you guys, lol.

Sorry, thumbs down on this one. Muscle definition is for guys, not gals. Tone and shape is for women, not bulk and definition. But I guess we all find significance in life, right or wrong, in one way or another.

As a woman who body builds I think some explanation is due.

I have a bad whiplash injury in my neck - many overstretched and damaged ligaments. So the muscles gained from body building keep me from immense pain.

I have very damaged knees from a variety of sources. Body building and bicycling have kept me from needing dual knee replacements for 8 years now.

Where do I body build? In my own gym in my basement.

Who sees me? No one but my husband.

And it is going to stay that way. He likes that I have a few muscles, but more that I don't complain about being in pain all the time. He is proud I have found a way to live comfortably and not use pain medications. He also likes the way I look - although not like a massive body builder. Just a few more curves in the arms and legs than your average woman. And I am probably much healthier for my workouts!

So what about Proverbs 31.16-17?

"She considereth a field, and buyeth it:
With the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
She girdeth her loins with strength,
And strengtheneth her arms."

Good grief, farouk, how do you get body building out of this??????

'...strengtheneth her arms'. (I thought this is what it was all about... :chin )

A woman working in the fields makes her look like this?

Come on, farouk.

Even 8 hrs. a day of a serious full time body building regimen won't ever make most men look like this.

So you find the lady in the picture you posted somehow objectionable?

Why? :chin

(Lady? Call me old school but...)

Yes, I find it objectionable. And if you've read any of my posts you'll know it's because it speaks loudly as to what may potentially be going on inside this person.

God gave us discernment and the responsibility to use it. We are not to ignore the warning signs. I know that's not PC these days, but look where being PC has brought us to. Thankfully the thought police haven't demanded that our thoughts be PC.....yet.

I suppose, for example, for the person in the picture you have chosen to reproduce you find her bikini too 'masculine'? :chin

(Or does the fact that a lady wears a bikini supposedly turn her into a woman rather than a lady?) :chin

Or in order to be a lady in your reckoning, does she supposedly have to be a long sleeved, fainting, Victorian waif unable to take any initiative? :chin

I see you don't get it. It has nothing to do with the bikini.

some guys just have their minds/heart too set on women in bikinis

Agreed she is not feminine at all IMO...

That is about the same as a slightly fat guy that has no muscle structure that soft kinda hangin fat...... IMO

The more i saw of the photo the more i wondered why it is on a Christian site... once on this page was enough moderator...

The Witness to the saving grace of Jesus Christ of that cheerleader i would think would be the story

Zero...no...-3 arousal for me, lol. No need to limit it's use for my sake, lol.

Do you think she would be a submissive wife, or one who is constantly asserting her independence from her husband? These days, just because a woman says she's a Christian doesn't mean she agrees or abides by the Bible about godly submission. My experience is that few women in the church think the Biblical order of headship applies anymore. But many of them seem to be good Christians otherwise.

Back to topic: so how big, or not big, are muscles on ladies supposed to be?

Is it their visible size that are supposedly offensive?

Or is it their effectiveness that precludes conservative-minded men from always having to lift things for them, so that the ladies (or women, if Jethro prefers) are unable to rely on themselves?

I do not find overly muscular bodies attractive. Over done is a feakshow ... The photo over and over just didnt seem right for the site... I would be ashamed of my child for posing like that.

This ol gal does not think the sexes should try and look like the other.... God created us as we are... Speaking very much in general... Men have broad shoulders narrow hips. Women have curves.

Great comment to think about, fine, reba.

I was thinking more broadly (and irrespective of whatever photo), why do some men find women's muscles supposedly offensive? does it maybe 'threaten' or diminish a sense of macho aspiration for supremacy, so that that the women in question might not have to depend so much on male muscles?

Just wondered...

(I don't have the answers...)

Blessings.
