Contacting the blood of Christ.

JLB andHopeful my brothers
I am confused by your questions and comments Hopeful .
Why don't you write out an explanation of how you became a believer, and what it is that you believe now, so we understand your faith and where your coming from.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's mine.
I came to Christ through SYMBOLIC water baptism,
where I SYMBOLICLY died to my sins, was SYMBOLICLY buried in baptism to become a SYMBOLIC dead sinner, and came up out of the water as a new, regenerated believer, ALIVE in Christ as my Savior.

ALL SYMBOLIC, but with GREAT POWER, in the SUPER-NATURAL JESUS CHRIST.

In water IMMERSION baptism, I SYMBOLICALLY came into contact with the blood of the LAMB, Jesus Christ, and my SANCTIFICATION process began. Heb. 13:12
Also, at that point of being saved by SYMBOLIC contact with the blood, I was
instantly;
RECONCILED to God. 2nd Cor. 5:18
REDEEMED by the blood of the LAMB. 1st Peter 1:18
Received ATONEMENT for my sins through Christ's blood. Heb. 5:9
JUSTIFIED. Romans 5:9
FORGIVEN of my past sins. Acts 2:38, Rev. 1:5
SAVED from the bondage of sin. Heb. 13:12
Received the GIFT of the HOLY SPIRIT. Acts 2:38
EXPIATED from my sins. My certificate of debt, charges against me as a sinner, was cancelled. Col. 2:13-14
Received PROPITIATION through Christ's blood, when He "took my place at the CROSS." Romans 3:24-25

I believe in continual spiritual growth for continual SALVATION.
I believe in continual participation in communion for continual SAVATION.
I believe in continual obediance of the 10 commandments for continual SALVATION.
As part of #3, I believe in the continual obedience to the 4th commandment, to CELEBRATE THE SABBATH WEEKLY for SALVATION.
I believe salvation is CONDITIONAL, and can be GIVEN UP at any point of our walk in Jesus Christ.
I believe that salvation ONLY comes through the contact with the blood of Jesus Christ, ONLY through IMMERSION water baptism.
I believe there is incredible SUPER-NATURAL POWER, through Jesus Christ, in all CHRISTS SYMBOLIZIMS.
I believe that FEW who call themselves believers will enter the KINGDOM of HEAVEN. Matth. 7:14, Luke 13:23-24, Matth. 7:21.

Well Hopeful , there I am, laid out BARE and NAKED in my faith. Can you do the same?
My name is OLIGOS
My new holy life experience is exactly like yours, except instead of symbolically, all my experiences were actual.
It is where I WAS sanctified, justified, and atoned for.
All completed when I was raised with Christ to walk in newness of life...actually.

Then it wasn't just "symbolic"...thanks be to God!

Hopeful
As I've gotten older, I've learned to differentiate between similar idea's, sometimes with meanings that are literal, and other times things are symbolic, but have LITERAL meanings and results, such as baptism.

I see baptism as a symbolic act, but with literal results.

For me, it's about understanding the way God works, and His meanings to what He says. Again, for me, it's part of the maturing process that grows us into a deeper understanding of who we are with God, as we grow closer to Him.

God bless you Hopeful

The Spirit uses the water baptism to allow our crucifixion, burial, and resurrection with Christ.

Symbolically.

In the “likeness“ of His death, and the “likeness“ of His resurrection.

“likeness” = symbolic

This is our public confession of faith before men.

1 Cor 12:13 works in tandem with 1 Cor 6:11..."For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

1 Corinthians 12:13 is certainly not referring to water baptism.

JLB

What is my way?
As your death, burial, and being raised with Christ were only symbolic, has it allowed you to live without sin?
Was your old man killed so it is not affect by any temptation to sin?
As Gal 5:24 states..."And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts."....are you uninfluenced by the now dead lusts that once controlled your actions?

1 Corinthians 12:13 is certainly not referring to water baptism.

JLB
"For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit." (1 Cor 12:13)

I cannot read 1 Cor 12:13 without considering 1 Cor 6:11 too..."And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God."
The especially noteworthy part is the "AND" by the Spirit of our Lord".
As we use the name of the Lord at water baptism "in the name of the Lord Jesus for the remission of sins" (Acts 2:38), it seems impossible to "unhook" the two verses.
The assumption that 12:13 is another type of baptism seems wrong.
If we receive remission of sins, sanctification, and justification at water baptism, "AND by the Spirit of our Lord",
why would it take a different baptism, (gift of the Holy Ghost), to "enter into one body"?
Our water baptism immerses us into the body of Christ, literally, according to Rom 6:3-6, so you are inferring that it is by the Spirit that we are allowed "into" the church body/congregation?

I read "in the likeness of" as "just as".

The water represents the death of the grave, and coming out of the water represents being raised from the dead, to walk in the newness of a Life; to walk according to the Spirit.

We must walk according to the Spirit, so that we don’t fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Please read they context.

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
Galatians 5:16-26

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

So do we avoid practicing the works of the flesh, (sin), because we were water baptized or because we are walking in the Spirit?

JLB

Amen. Great scripture!!

Notice who the baptizer is in this verse.

The Holy Spirit in the one doing the baptizing, not your pastor or evangelist.

The Holy Spirit baptizes us into Christ.
Man baptizes us in water.
Jesus baptizes us with the Holy Spirit.

This is plainly typtified from the Old Testament.

Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea.
1 Corinthians 10:1-2

  • all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea.

Into Moses = baptized into Christ
in the sea = baptized in water
in the cloud = baptized in the Spirit.

When we repent, turn away from this world, (Egypt), to follow Christ, we are baptized into Christ, just as shown here that the children of Israel were baptized into Moses when they turned away from Egypt to follow him.

We can say "represents", or we can say "is" the grave we are cast into and raised from after our crucifixion with Christ.

We can't walk in the Spirit until our "old man" is killed with Christ...at our "immersion" into Christ and into His death, burial, and are raised with Him to walk in newness of life.
It happens at our baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.
Then we receive the gift of the Holy Ghost in which we walk. (Acts 2:38)

It is written..."And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one." (1 John 5:8)
The Spirit is indistinguishable from the water or blood.

Just as an aside...is there any way you can get rid of that vertical line on the left edge of your posts?
It goofs up responses and changes the type size when answering you.
Thanks.
