Death is come up into our windows!

The point is this: the verse in question, within the context of the chapter and book it is found in, is regarding God's impending judgment against his chosen people. Nothing more. You've ignored this point and instead chosen to pursue my use of the word nation which, although biblical, you are turning into a game of semantics. But that isn't even the real issue.
Free....We are His chosen people. That is the issue. The "impending judgment" is against us. Death comes into OUR windows. This is a warning to us.
No, the issue is that this was written thousands of years ago to the Israelites who turned from God, therefore incurring his wrath. This is a theme that is throughout the OT.

Do you not believe that Jesus' death and resurrection made propitiation for our sins? Do believers still face God's judgment?

The Bible is written to us as well as to them. He warns us as He warned them. Many "believers" are going to fall into apostasy.

Really. You believe a self proclaiming, proud to be one, non-christian, has been given guidance by the Holy Spirit to understand the Words? :o

THe term "Jew" comes from the house of Judah not the nation of Israel.....YOu might wanna go back and look at 1 Kings.....

What would you like me to address??????

I have already stated how I see it......

That's an etymological fallacy. Where a word comes from has nothing to do with how its used, and 'Jew' became a general designation for any 'Israelite' after the exile, through intertestamental and New Testament times, right up to the present day.

Anyway, this is all a dodge of the point. The passage says nothing about 'Death' being one of Satan's handles, or anything else the OP fancies it says.

Finis,
Eric

Really ok we will just pretend this passage doesnt exist so you can hold to your view...

Revelation 6:8
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him.

and look hell follows this dude,,,,,see this is one reason christians should NOT take advice or let non-christians do there biblical interpreting.....

Let me ask you and THE this...where have you learned this stuff? Books? Pastor? Web site? I'd like to know the source of your so-called knowledge. You obviously have no idea what "context" means.

How many Scriptures have you seen me post in all of my threads? Are those Scriptures from "books, pastors, or web sites?" "Take heed lest any man deceive you." [Mark 13:5]

  • John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Galatians 4:2 But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.

2 Corinthians 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

Alot of my study comes from the Companion bible and Ginsbug (If you are not familiar with them just google them),,,,and I think Bullinger had everything pretty accurate except "rapture" and "Genesis 1:26"......

Yes I understand "context" I also understand that mainstream christianity has deluded the mind of christians,,,so that they dont understand the bible.....

SO-called knowledge?????? When reading the bible if you dont understand there was a age before this one ,,,and the sin that took place in the garden was saxual beguilment,,,,then of course my knowledge wont line up with yours.......

There is a truth that wiggles its way thru the word,,,I think you missed it,,,I think most christians miss it......And it will probably lead to most of this forum whoring after the antichrist.......When I see christians taking advice from proud to be non-christians it just lets us know satan/antichrist is going to have a field day......

But anyway google the 2 scholars I have listed,,,and Please please prove me and them wrong...

P.S> Bullinger was the only american that was allowed to translate the Massorah into english,,,,do you think Ginsburg would have let you do it???????????

Posting Scripture does not mean much if it is taken out of context.

"Take heed lest any man deceive you." [Mark 13:5]
That is what some of us are doing.

1 John 2:23-3:1
23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

Believe whomever you wish Free. It is not my job to make you understand or accept anything. I am to plant seeds. He makes it grow...or not.

This is how death comes in the windows of our temple for the holy Spirit.

Rom 7:9-13
9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.

11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.

12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. KJV

I believe it was Alister McGrath that said a danger has creeped into modern day Christianity - and that is self-interpretation of the Scriptures and excluding all other minds that God has gifted.

I love the "holier-than-thou" attitude, and though I may not agree w/ everything that wavy has to say, when it comes to interpreting the OP's text - he is right (Christian or not).

This is aside from the point, but correct me if I'm wrong, isn't the designation Yehud or Yehudi which was used by foreign nations like Egypt and Assyria for the southern kingdom of Judah in their records what eventually gave rise to the term which became Germanized as "Jew"?

I thought that came with the rise of Persia and the postexilic community (the province of 'Yehud'), but I could double-check. Point being, any Israelite within the province of Yehud was known as a 'Jew', and subsequently any Israelite abroad after the exile was known as a 'Jew' (e.g. Esther)

I see. You are doing exactly what He instructed us not to do. You listen to man instead of Him. I quoted HIS WORDS and you quote McGrath. You of course are free to believe whatever man you wish to believe. That is what this age is for....to see if we follow Him.

Ecclesiastes 12:12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

Finis,

Oh, I think you may be correct about it becoming that official term in the Persian period. I think for Assyria I was thinking of the term "Judahite" (I would need to look up the source word) as found in Sennacherib's conquest account about "Hezekiah the Judahite", since Judah was the only remaining "Israelite" entity in Canaan in 701 (the northern tribes being deported in 722 and following years). I wonder how early the distinct designation "Judahite" goes back. Hmmm...

Holier-than-thou ----- NAh,,,I make mistakes just like the next guy.....

But if you choose to believe that "death" is not another name for satan after reading::

Revelation 6:8
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him.

Then what can I tell ya?????? The name of "him" refering to a person....So who is this "him" ?????

NO is he not right and besides understanding Genesis 6 he rarely is........

I wont say what I feel concerning your (follow a man attitude) I think someone has touched on it already....

Again one poster has posted scripture with definitons and a good thought,,,,,and the majority has missed it,,,but thats cool cause like I said,,the majority will go whoring after the antichrist....

So, God has given the spiritual gifts of teaching and preaching to people for no reason at all then?? God has poured all His knowledge into your little finite brain, has He? It's pretty arrogant to think that YOU ALONE can interpret Scripture the correct way. Yes, God has given us the Holy Spirit, but He's also given us God-gifted teachers and brains to think.

I didn't say that I've learned anything from him, but I agree w/ him that the OPs Jeremiah text is concerning national Israel and the imminent judgment that was coming upon them. That's the correct way of interpreting that text. Wavy didn't change my mind, that's how I've always viewed that text.

The problem might be,,,,,you believe there is only one way to view scripture.....When reading the bible there is usally a message under the surface,,,why do you seem to miss it everytime??????

If I was to hit you with biblical acrostics would you say im changing or mingling with scripture????

Also Paul taught on 3 levels,,,it seems if the the people on the level 1 :sleep ,,,,, always think the people on level 3 :armed are :screwloose .......
