Dispensationalism

(I think it actually comes out to be a bit shy of a full 1,500 miles.)
nevermind that the earth has to be balanced, ie it rotates. a massive object like that will have the effects of;
1) roache limit
2) spinning the earth to be a washer with an uneven load.

Imagine how long they had to sit there waiting for that "angel" to go measure the city with the Golden Rod he held?

Well, do some quick math as you have found a cubit and furlong to be, and we'll go with that. I really don't mind................. I'm still not going to envision being forced to live in the confines of a city of hard metal for eternity.

I'm sure no one will stop you from going "outside".

a cubit is about 18 to 21 inches depending on which cubit is used the Egyptian one or the Canaanite one.
and he measured its wall, an hundred forty-four cubits, the measure of a man, that is, of the messenger;
240 times 1.5ft equals 360 ft. I low balled that.
one furlong is equal to 12ft If I recall right.
and the city lieth square, and the length of it is as great as the breadth; and he did measure the city with the reed -- furlongs twelve thousand; the length, and the breadth, and the height, of it are equal;
12 ft times 12,000 = 144,000 ft
one mile is 5280 ft.
so the width, breadth and height are 2.73 miles. so its measurements are 2.73 cubic miles. the measurements I bet are most numeric as in the bibles numbers.

I won't pull "math teacher" on you, but you know, automatically, that you have something wrong there. Now.... it's so tiny that you couldn't get the graduates of my High School crammed in there.

im being sarcastic. of course I do. but the idea of the new heaven and new earth is different for each person. I don't see the earth and the heavens being destroyed but cleansed.

See, you are a futurist, too. :poke :wave

The silly point I'm trying to make here is that all of this stuff in Revelation is never meant to be literal, but rather to express magnitude and grandeur. Yet, as we do in so much of the Bible, we try our best to shoehorn it into our own finite understandings.

Dispensationalism

Dispensationalismis an evangelical, futurist, Biblical interpretation that understands God to have related to human beings in different ways under different Biblical covenants in a series of " dispensations," or periods in history.

Or is a system of theology whose adherents strive for a consistently literal interpretation of the Word of God
Dear Brother Classic, A dispensation of God is something He has dispensed to us for a given time. For instance, we do not have the same admonition of not eating of the tree of good and evil which I personally believe to have been the law in part which is a ministration of death, and it killed.

A dispensation normally introduced a covenant God had with men. E.g., Zec 3:7 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by. Although this was not the beginning of a dispensation, the following covenant was which is know as the age of promise. Gen 17:2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.

One such dispensation was given to Paul I Col1:25. Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;

Col 1:26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:

To my understanding there are seven such dispensations starting with Genesis through the Millennium.

ah the width is 2.73 miles and height..

2.73 times 3 and the answer in cubic miles. lol

yes I have learned that with other attempts to understand eschatology

not that I disagree but I the measurements are a bit difficult to understand in old English.

The distance of each side is equal to the distance between Jerusalem and Rome. There is a lot of symbolism in that.

the distance of rome to Jerusalem in miles is 2.73 miles?unless my distance via a furlong is off.

it is.

.125 miles.

1500 miles. ok still that makes that city even bigger. wow. 1500 miles for each dimension.4500 cu miles. sheesh that is a lot of weight on the earth. it cant be literal

Yes, we do get so ridiculous with our interpretations of 7's, and 70's, and weeks, and years, and "times", and "seasons", and so many other things we actually think we can put a finger on. It's almost laughable.

Interesting reply :thumbsup

There may be temptation outside
Why would there be temptation? Satan is in the lake of fire at that time, and it's forever. Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire . .
