Do you cook with gas ?

Are you okay? The discussion is about cooking with gas, but you expand it to "taking away and changing everything about life as we know it" then expand it to the Antichrist(!) and indoctrination of the youth. I mean, really!
Yep. I'm fine. This is one of the many many things that they are suddenly changing especially since 2020. Believe me, gas stoves is just one thing of many. Expect to see more changes so that life as we knew it will not be the same. Yes, really!

My point is that why would they even be interested in gas stoves, when there are other things that would be more likely? We shouldn't just link things to despotism when there are potentially legitimate reasons for banning something.
What legitimacy is there for banning gas stoves? And where I live, it's supposedly America, but since my youth I see more and more things chipped away; things I used to do that one can't any longer. In case anyone hasn't noticed, earlier it's the idea of getting electric cars. What else is there?

He has a point

The main issue with gas stoves isn’t that it affects the climate, but that it negatively affects indoor air quality and thus one’s health. This has been know for quite a number of years.
Seems there's some info on that, I had no idea indoor gas stoves causes asthma to 12.7% of children in households with gas stoves

Reasons like this:
So please explain to all of us here why 1) the federal government should be a nanny to make that choice for us? The federal government has no business in that. 2) How do we know other than supposed statistics? If a child obviously gets ill from gas stoves then the parents or whoever in charge of the household can take care of that specific instance. But that's their choice. Seems as a matter of fact, asthma is worse now than back in the days we lived in "dirty" environments including a time when we used more gas. I suppose that we can blame other factors as well some which seem to be the produce of modern life and science where things are modified and suddenly we see more of this stuff. For example, when I was a kid, we all ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. That was a main food staple in school. Now, I have never seen so many kids allergic to peanuts to the point of banning them now on flights. In all fairness, I can't decide whether things are truly getting worse or if this is an extreme form of nannyism going on because of just a few. Whatever position one takes, it's quite obvious that something is terribly wrong and things have changed.

So in all this I'm wondering why the government is "so concerned about kids" as a justification for another restriction?? It's for the children, don't you know? {sarcasm} Now, may I make another prediction? Of course gas stoves are not going away. At best they won't put them into new houses by law so a person will have to install their own. This kind of stuff is a problem only if one moves and changes ownership. It's like electrical and plumbing. One is supposed to have a licensed professional do it, but everyone and their brother knows you can pick up that stuff at your local Home Depot even in a state like California - it's just to rile people up. So my prediction is that this is another diversionary tactic for something bigger coming down the road akin to all this political fighting and investigations these days. Notice when one crisis is over another is promptly drummed up, oftentimes with a diversion before it.

Well we could ban living in Arizona or any desert as well asthma and that are quite related but no,no way that tiny unseeable dust floating in the air could cause asthma.

It's not like I didn't find out from looking down at my post from the mountains .

Couldn't be

This is simply an exaggeration. Life is always changing. I'm not worried about gas stove use. It's a minor problem.

I simply gave a legitimate concern with gas stoves which would support banning them. I never said I supported the government banning them. As for the government making choices for people, they do that all the time. The reason is, as even cursory observation shows, people continually make poor choices regarding any number of things, particularly their health, and this has huge negative economic and social costs. The pandemic, fast food, overly processed food, sugary drinks, and lack of exercise are prime examples where people continually make poor choices. There comes a point when the government pretty much needs to step in, one way or another, to help people make better decisions.

They don't like anything that runs on fossil fuels. It's ridiculous. Even if they ban new gas stoves that only means you are going to be using that old gas stove until it wont work at all. Or you can be in my position and the stove is a potential fire hazard. Took the knob off of the one that caused that fire. Its sketchy running it and I was about to go ahead and replacement.

I'd just prefer to wait until the last minute so I'd get the newest gas stove and hope it lasts. Or if they cut off the gas supply, I won't be happy about that either.

Also, all these rules, regulations and bans all come from California basically. The Republican party is fractured while the Democrats are slowly destroying America.

So 12.7% kids get asthma from gas stoves?... or is it something else like vitamin deficiencies..

Gas stoves cook so much better. Even frozen pizza tastes better made in a gas stove. Apartments around in Chicago seem to be all electric stoves. These people have been trying to phase out gas stoves for at least a decade.

I think the asthma story is a ruse to get people to switch, very much like the climate crisis. But that's another topic there.

When I put a mortgage on my condo it has a gas stove. Wouldnt go back to electric. Just like the battery vehicles I prefer gas vehicles.. but that's another story too...

I have exercise induced asthma

Triggers can be as asthma shifts .
Pet dander ,dog fur ( best ban pets ) ,grass cuttings ,tree pollen .and job related triggers .

There is nothing in the news about eliminating gas stoves that has any merit. It is clearly an exaggeration.

Interesting. Perhaps we should consider passing laws requiring Minnesotans to relocate during the winter months to protect us from potential hazards from exposure to the cold weather. Notice, despite the global warming concerns, the trend in the number of deaths each year for the past 20 years has been going up when technologically we have ever more effective protection and clothing. I wonder why?

Note: the chart is mislabeled. Reading the article it should have been titled deaths related to cold exposure for that is what the data is from.

More correctly then, maybe you should have said that the legitimate concern is worth noting or a subject for more in-depth study because I don't think there is enough information to support a ban.

I remember one storm in the 1970s called "the blizzard of the century". The state police were on the radio warning people that if they had an emergency they shouldn't leave home on their own, the police would come get them. I do not miss Minnesota winters!

Except for one minor thing about the government making "better decisions". The whole system is just as bad if not worse. What about God? Or did we forget Him? Some of those governmental "better decisions" regarding health are cut your salt intake, cholesterol is bad, saturated fats are bad, too much sun is bad-- all things the Bible says otherwise that they are not bad for you. What the people are so is the government they elected in, or do we need to see better that's merely a deal with the devil?

Right; in itself it's a minor problem, IF it ends there. So you don't go by the adage "the straw that broke the camel's back?"

Very well said! Somebody here has their discernment glasses on today.

What does God say about CO2, CO, processed foods, fast foods, soda, etc.? These are things within man's dominion. Sometimes the government does know better, since they have access to science and data that the average person does not, and even though it takes time, they often do change things as the data becomes available. Some people really do need to cut their salt intake and watch the amount of certain types of fats they eat. That many people continually make poor decisions isn't even questionable.

No, I certainly do not. If gas stoves are "the straw that broke the camel's back" we have reached the end of all life on Earth! Clearly we have not. It is a very, very minor problem.
