Do you cook with gas ?

Are you okay??? This is both meaningless and off-topic. And is a personal insult, which is unlike you.
How is it a personal insult?
Have you read 1984?
Apparently not.
read it.

When the govt gives you something, they require your very soul in return.

The options are available for children adopted by same sex couples or for children of parents 5ha5 use gender nuetral titles. It's nothing big.

Mostly it's comitties throwing our ideas and news organizations repeat this stuff for ratings.
Having 2 fathers or 2 mothers is not something big?

OK.
Case closed.

In my book it's something VERY BIG.
I think children are supposed to have a mother and a father.

But, apparently, I'm wrong.

Writing "Looks like you read Lord of the Flies. But you forgot to read 1984." is clearly insulting. It implies something about my personality and values which is both mean and false. You are normally a nice person; this seems out of character for you.

"When the govt gives you something, they require your very soul in return" is paranoid nonsense. And again, this has nothing to do with cooking with gas.

If it's "case closed", why are you continuing with this off-topic rant?

Oh for goodness sake Jaybo.
Find out what the books are about.

Think about how your health system has changed since government got involved.

FYI, I know what those books are about. I won't discuss this with you any further.

And I won't discuss the Italian or US health systems. That subject is also off-topic. Have some Chianti wine and chill!

Telling me I'm RANTING is rather insulting.
I'm stating my opinion, and in a rather very quiet and civil manner.

I don't rant.
I find it gets one nowhere.

How convenient.
Another personal attack.
But I'm the one ranting.
Interesting.

That depends on the government. Some were/are created to take care of the population. Socialism might be one example as the government owns and controls property and natural resources for the benefit of all citizens. The individual has little to no say in determining how they are used and distributed. The premise being that everyone shares.
Exactly.
And does socialism work?
I'd say No.

Any concept of sharing, socialism or communism, will always bring the standard of living down. It will be lowered not raised, and the poor will still be poor.

Oh, I definitely agree with you here. Mankind is inherently selfish and that's why it doesn't work. Even the original Church tried it and it didn't last long. Wasn't that, in part, how Satan was able to deceive Eve, by reminding her that she could be like God as in her own god?

You have completely changed the subject of the thread and are obliquely criticizing me by suggesting that my thinking has been influenced by reading "The Lord of the Flies and "1984". And IMHO you are ranting.

You are on a strange tangent about the evils of government. I strongly suggest that you start a new thread about government after you have read Romans 13:1-6...

"Let every person be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those authorities that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists authority resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct but to bad. Do you wish to have no fear of the authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive its approval, for it is God’s agent for your good. But if you do what is wrong, you should be afraid, for the authority does not bear the sword in vain! It is the agent of God to execute wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be subject, not only because of wrath but also because of conscience. For the same reason you also pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s agents, busy with this very thing."

I thought it was more about banning new homes from installing gas. That's common sense. Not that I think gas should be banned. I think if someone wants to use gas for there own house they should be allowed. It's the people who pay for there heating and cooking so they should have options what they prefer and want to use.

I used to use a gas heater, I didn't want to drain power and wait for the next month's bill to send me broke.

I like options. People like options. It's competition. Everyone can be happy. Like the one who rides there bicycle to work because they believe they doing there part to save the planet, they happy dping that, I drive my petroleum vehicle to work that's my preference. I'm happy. See. Everyone's happy. It good when people mind there own businesss.

Prefer gas, prefer not gas. Whatever.

I like to choose. I like freedom of choice.

That's right. Knives are sharp, guns have hair triggers, and even a gas stove can attack you if you act like a moron, lol.

In fact this whole planet is dangerous. But personal responsibility can't be given to the government. So they should stop asking.
The next time your house catches fire, tell the responders, "It's my responsibility! Put down those hoses!". If your car gets stolen, tell the police not to worry about it, it's your car and therefore your responsibility for getting it back. If you own a store and catch someone stealing your goods, don't call the police. It's your responsibility to get them back. Etc!
