Does Eve Deserve More Blame Than Adam?

Adam was just plain evil.

Eve was deceived.
Has anyone asked the question why he stood there and let her eat of a tree which God had said was poisonous?
Do we KNOW he saw her first bite?
Gen 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Being a female ...the idea that she took a bite and was physically alive smiling that smile at dumb ol adam he was snookered. Melted zero back bone. is how i see it.

Has anyone asked why he didn't break the serpent's back and throw it out of the garden when he heard it saying that God is a liar?
The serpent spoke to her not him maybe he was a few feet away...

Has anyone asked why that serpent was in there in the first place?
yup sure have then i read this....Rev_13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
God has always had a plan...

Be interesting to hear your comments on those points.

Gen_3:14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
Snakes dont eat dust worms do

ok. its easy to make adam look bad. im not justifying his sin. but imagine if your child is on a cliff and theres a way to save him or her and your sin will save him or her. would you sin to save that child? that is the position adam was at.satan used eve to get to adam. she is his wife and well he did love her and didnt want to her die alone. he may have ate in pity.

Hi Jason,

If Adam was driven by pity to eat the fruit, that certainly paints him in a romantic light.

And it exposes Eve to even harsher blame, maybe even outright anger against her. Claims that she didn't deserve the love of such a sensitive, self-sacrificing man. She took advantage of him so she wouldn't die alone. She selfishly ruined Paradise for him. She robbed him.

Women would have hell to pay for that. Just think.:grumpy

The man blamed the woman, the woman blamed the snake and the snake didn't have a leg to stand on

Certainly not! I would totally agree with 1 Timothy 2:11-14 because it seems to be very clear. Eve is not free of transgression at all, but Adam had a higher degree of responsibility since he was the man, and the leader of the woman. Eves responsibility was to be in subjection to her Husband and she failed in this. She should have consulted Adam before eating of the fruit and followed his direction.

The command regarding a woman following a man's lead was given after the incident. Eves "crime" was disobeying God (though there is nothing in the text to say she was given the same commands as Adam) not disobeying her husband.

The punishment for woman was a painful childbirth... the punishment for man was he would till the soil and it would return thorns...

Also, because of Adam, they were expelled from the garden.

There are two types of sin.
1. Ignorance and unbelief. As it relates to the OP: I refer you to 1 Timothy 1:13 though I was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: howbeit I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief;

In essence, Paul didn't have the knowledge of who Christ was. As such, Eve was much like Paul in that she sinned in ignorance and disbelief when she ate of the forbidden fruit. Like Paul, she was deceived.

2. Sin done in defiance.

Within the Law, we clearly see that those who committed sin in ignorance and disbelief could be atoned for. However, for those who sinned through defiance, they were expelled. (Numbers 15:22-31) We also see that this is in agreement with what Jesus said in Matthew 18:15-17.

So we must ask, was Adam defiant when he disobeyed? Is this why sin and death came through Adam and is this why they were expelled from the Garden?

Back to Eve.
Paul doesn't leave women with the stigma of sin. Paul clearly says: But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.

We know that all are saved by grace, and not works. So we cannot take this verse in the manner that all women would be saved. As well, we cannot say that if a woman has a child, they will be saved. Likewise, we also know that women who can't have a child, can also be saved. So what in the world is Paul talking about? I would suggest that he's releasing the stigma associated with woman in regard to Eve and the sin she committed in ignorance. Also, he bolsters women because they are the essence of humanity! As Paul writes to Timothy 1:5 I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.

So we see that a woman's role is crucial to raising Godly children... I am very certain Lois and Eunice were a mirror of the type of woman written about in Proverbs 31

Listen though, why do you think the serpent went after the woman? Don't you know that if he could have killed the woman, the Christ would never have come? Or don't we know that everyone on earth has a mother, including Jesus. And how blessed was Mary to have the messiah in her womb! Perhaps this can give us some insight into Genesis 3:15

I could write much, much more... but I'm sure I'll get enough flack from this post.

For those of you with a tender heart, enjoy.

Grace and Peace.

A thought that just jumped in my head

Gen_2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
They were one so they are equally guilty and forgiven...

That's beautiful.

Here is my view on your question:

Where was Adam when Eve was confronted by the enemy? I think perhaps the Messiah answers this question for us in Matt 13:24-25 "The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way." The way I see it, the "man who sowed the good seed" was the Lord and His enemy was the serpent. I believe that Adam was asleep. I also believe that had Adam been doing his job ("to tend and to keep" or "to work and to gaurd," that conversation between Eve and the serpent may not have taken place.

I'm going to add only a personal thought......I wonder if Adam could have redeemed Eve by giving his life for her like Jesus has done for us all. Since the bible does call Jesus the 2nd Adam.

satan does appear to hate women.

Genesis 3:15 - And I will put enmity (animosity) between thee and the woman (The Lord was now was actually speaking to Satan, who had used the serpent; in effect, the Lord is saying to Satin, "You used woman to bring down the human race, and I will use the woman as an instrument to bring the Redeermer into the world, Who will save the human race"), and between thy seed (mankind which follows Satan) and her Seed (the Lord Jesus Christ); it (Christ) shall bruise thy head (the Victory that Jesus won at the Cross [Col. 2:14-15]), and thou shalt bruise his heel (the sufferings of the Cross).

This was the first Prophesy of the Bible! Lord Jesus would not have a human father. Lord Jesus would only have a human mother. This is about the Virgins Birth.

Forgive me for interrupting, but I just couldn’t help myself when I saw your statement. This isn’t the first prophecy in the Bible. The honorary title of being the "first prophecy" belongs to the Hebrew word B’resheet which translates into “In the beginning†and tells the complete story (from beginning to end) about the Messiah and His work of redemption.
