When I came back I supported women. I still support women in the ministry. I named the good women in the Bible. I will however quote scripture. I am not going to yea but like some. If you will read the previous post there is enough there to get started on the futl view. Not sure what marriage has to do with the OP?
Why would you think it would be rare for a woman to function as a totally dedicated servant of Jesus Christ as we find many women in scripture that were of the ministry of Christ. Even I was a licensed Evangelist for a time and purpose of going into the prisons to teach the men and the women. It's only God that calls an appoints those who are equipped for His ministry here on earth.
It is Paul's explanation of his POV that makes me agree.Be careful you are parsing that in Greek and NOT English. Looking only at the English, you can certainly take that view point. The Greek makes it more clear that she was noted among the apostles as being one of them. DancesWithGnostics has linked the Junia Project website a few posts back. They can give you the details on that.
You are adding your own interpretation to scripture.Pheobe (Romans 16:1-2): This woman was a deaconess of the church in Cenchrea, who was beloved of Paul and many other Christians for the help she gave to them. She filled an important position of leadership. It would be a difficult stretch of the imagination to say that this woman fulfilled her duties without ever speaking in the church!
1 out of 4 isn't a good average.You have seen the list.
Phoebe a deaconess. Daughters of Philip prophets. Junia an apostle. Priscilla a teacher.
Women can prophesy without leading men.Do you think they prophesied and executed authority over women in the church ONLY?
Though they were cited as prophetesses, it isn't written that they prophesied while Paul stayed at Philip's home. (Acts 21:8-9)FOUR daughters of Philip prophesied. They weren't named - only Agabus of New Testament prophets is named
It is Paul's explanation of his POV that makes me agree.
The woman came after the man, and she sinned first.
How often do we try to justify or negate our offenses using the "He did it first" argument. It doesn't matter who did it first. If one sins, he/she is guilty just the same.To get technical they both sinned at the same time because they were as one and Man and Wife. So she brought trouble home but it was both their problem. And Adam loved his Wife so much he actually honored her by partaking and joining her by her side and not letting her stand alone for the punishment.
How could he not? She was the only girl around at the time so yeah, you bet he loved her.
Romans 16:7 Greet Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen and my fellow prisoners. They are well known to the apostles, and they were in Christ before me. (ESV)Rom 16:7 Salute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen, and my fellowprisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.
Some names can be used the same for males. Why?? Junia is a Latin (Roman) female name.
Romans 16:7 KJV
Salute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen, and my fellow-prisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.
Not really sure what this is about. I feel like this statement just doesn't get the pulse of the place. What it is ALL about is command/being boss/authority. Jesus clearly states the order of things and it doesn't matter if we live in a country that has sinfully allowed women to have collective say over their husbands(voting). It's still wrong and in an open state of disobedience.JAG .. Luminous_Rose Hopeful jasonc DancesWithGnostics Christ_empowered Northman Titus Who Me hawkman
When in aligning that with the epistle in Timothy, if women sought to be in the Lord's ministry, per His words, it is in outreach ministry which the scripture has given examples regarding women as used by the Lord. Their sights should not be in the assembly.
This forum should be considered as an outreach ministry; not an actual assembly where if a brother is caught in a trespass, he is to be corrected privately, if not then with 2 or 3 witnesses to establish the word of correction, and if not repenting there, then before the whole assembly to excommunicate whereby the members of the church are to even shun fellowship with him in public until he repents before the whole church so everybody knows to let him back in and no longer shun him in public either.
We cannot really do that here for why it cannot be an assembly when we do not all speak the same thing and I am not in agreement with this forum's Statement of Faith by that one line, even in principle because below is an apostate statement that lays groundwork for the supernatural to happen which also is apostasy.
"We believe that all believers need to be filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit to live a godly life and to be bold in our witness for the Lord."
I believe all believers are always Spirit-filled since salvation and all we really "need" the Lord Jesus Christ's help not to sow the works of the flesh but looking to Him daily to help us lay aside every weight & sin ( Hebrews 12:1-2 ), thereby trusting Him to finish His work in us ( Philippians 1:6 ) as the fruits of righteousness ( the fruits of the Spirit ) are manifested by Jesus Christ ( Philippians 1:11 ).
I understand that not all believers apply that line as looking for the supernatural phenomenon for this continual filling, but in principle, but even in principle, it is not Biblically sound and it lays the foundation for when the supernatural happen, believers will go astray in apostasy because of that principle & so that principle is apostasy.
It is fortunate that this forum does not need a requirement to adhere to that statement of faith to be a member and does invite discussions that does not adhere to the statement of faith for believes to prove or reprove in their walk with the Lord.
1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. 10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
So in this forum, members are not really speaking the same thing nor holding to the same judgment for us to be considered an assembly & fellowship, but an outreach ministry where women can be used by the Lord in correcting others by His words.
12 has nothing to do with it. I and many people are respected by a certain community even though we do not live there so don't see your point. You seem to be saying, if I am not wrong, since the original 12 are no longer alive then there are no more apostles?Romans 16:7 Greet Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen and my fellow prisoners. They are well known to the apostles, and they were in Christ before me. (ESV)
Romans 16:7 Greet Andronicus and Junia, my fellow Jews, who were in prison with me. They are highly respected among the apostles and became followers of Christ before I did. (NLT)
Reading comprehension issue. I'm highly respected amongst a certain community in my area, even though I don't belong to it.
12 gates, 12 apostles, 12 names on them.
The whole debate is over what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 14:34. As you can read in that verse Paul never said that women could not preach, but brings them in proper order of worship as in not disturbing the service by asking questions, but to wait until the service was over. When I came back I supported women. I still support women in the ministry. I named the good women in the Bible. I will however quote scripture. I am not going to yea but like some. If you will read the previous post there is enough there to get started on the futl view.
Calm down, I am not anti female in ministry. If ya’ll will tell me when to speak, I will discuss the issue long term.
Got to love the challenge.

But, instead of Adam eating of the tree, why did he disobey God and not keep Eve from taking of it as God gave that command before He created Eve. I see it as Adam's fault, not Eve's for he never told her.It is Paul's explanation of his POV that makes me agree.
The woman came after the man, and she sinned first.
1 Timothy 2:12 is the same as what Paul already said in the full context of 1 Corinthians 14:26-40. Do a search on the unruly women in the Corinthian church in Paul's day as this shows why Paul said what he did.You are adding your own interpretation to scripture.
I cannot agree with you against what is written clearly in 1 Tim 2:12.
For you and all that thinks Junia was a male it is explained here in full who this person was. Some names can be used the same for males.
Do you think women would share the same prison cell with the men?
Does noting them who are of note among the apostles mean they are apostles too or that those two were noted by the apostles as heard about and known among them?
Romans 16:7 KJV
Salute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen, and my fellow-prisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.
Not sure why he would address them as kinsmen in plural if one of them was actually a woman.
For some reason, I doubt Junia was a woman even though I am sure that name has been used for a woman too.
