Bible Study God's Mystery

I wonder at the way God works.

Colossians 2:2
2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

The mystery of God:

1. God revealed himself first as.
Against sin:
Get out of the garden Genesis 3
Punishment of Cain Genesis 4
Flood Genesis 6
Changed language Genesis 11
Abram sent away from Pharaoh Genesis 12
Destruction of Sodom Genesis 18-19
Gave Law etc. - etc.

None of this was hidden in symbolism, but was open and apparent. God hated sin and would punish those who sinned.

2. Hidden in scripture (mystery), were the promises of a spiritual love that would happen in the future.

Then
John 3:16. KJV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The answer to the mystery revealed. No more symbols / types / shadows; God loves his created mankind enough to secure salvation (eternal life - forgiveness of sins for them).
Mystery solved in Christ Jesus.

A hidden part of God is love. Whatever it takes.
Rod staff whatever.

3. This love includes male, female, bond, free, Jew, Gentile, weak, strong, etc,
........

God still hates sin, but he has found a way to forgive sin and secure eternal life. The Holy Spirit has been sent to provide power to spread this good news / Gospel.

Colossians
7Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
8Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power
We need to know we now follow Paul ! He is our Apostil in these days

Eph. 2:
8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9Not of works, lest any man should boast.

The mystery was , that God kept it a secret till the time of refreshing....
That HE would send Jesus to the cross for our sins............
And we would be in the time of Grace !
No more works............. (" Which does not mean we should / could do wrong !")

At this time we are now all Gentiles................

The Lord mad it so easy for us in comparison to time past !

the Blessings of Matthew five. I want you to know that I'm experiencing my first love in a fresh way and He is comforting me.

This is very wonderful Chopper! The Lord guides me to the Beatitudes when I get discouraged with things around me. You are Blessed.

The revelation of God to man is progressive, and is revealed by His names, His actions and his inspired communication and directives to man. Each name by which God is called reveals His personality, character and attributes. The first name God is revealed by is "El", The primary meaning is, "The Strong one", or "Strength". What does that first etymological name reveal? He creates. The Strong one created the Heavens and he earth.

If you would like I can Help with a study on the etymological meanings of His names

Matthew 5

No parables. Jesus is just talking to the disciples. If all we get is parable like information, then we have mysteries to solve. If we use our carnal mind to solve these riddles we may wind up in a mess.

Matthew 5 is kingdom teaching (inside us).
Luke 17:21
Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

This is awesome, Chopper. I think you hit the proverbial nail on the head. The mystery is, and always will be, Christ. Keep in mind that we are looking back through the lens of history at Christ. Imagine you are Paul, a very well trained Pharisee. He knew the OT verbatim. He knew the laws. He knew the customs. He thought He knew God. Then he is confronted with Christ, and persecutes those who acknowledge this "new" God. THEN he meets Christ, and his eyes are opened! Wow! Now all the OT prophecies come alive! They were referring to Jesus! Prior to chapter 2 (no chapters in Paul's day - just a letter), Paul says the mystery was hidden for ages and generations, but is NOW revealed! And Paul is in love! He is filled with His Spirit!

Sadly, this "first love" is a far cry from what we see in many churches today. Like the church in Ephesus in Revelation 2, we are called out of our stupor, and back to our first love - the mystery that was hidden for so long, and is now revealed!

Thank you my new friend, and welcome to the finest Christian Forum out there IMO....Yes, each believer in Christ Jesus should go back and re-evaluate the simple words of Jesus. I say simple because when we enlist the help of the Spirit of God, He's the One Who makes it simple.

When we reconsider the Ten Commandments and our Savior's look back on them in the "blessed are you" in Matthew five, we see the heart of the Messiah and are compelled to obey and love Him anew.

"What exactly is this mystery said:
Hello Brother,
I would like to offer an idea for the "mystery". The Church here had a problem with false teachers that tried to say "YOU CAN FIND SALVATION YOURSELF"
Paul says the mystery of all God's word is that only GRACE can save, Yes it is Jesus, Grace of God in Jesus His Son to provide Salvation. EVERY ONE from Adam to us must be saved by Grace, in the OT and some in the NT did not know or understand this,
ALL SALVATION was always by Grace.
That is the mystery of truth forgotten or no longer understood. "NEW AGE" in the Church today is that old false teaching.

I believe the mystery He is speaking of is:
2:9,10
For in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead, bodily,
And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power.
Body of Christ....
2:17
Which are shadow of things to come, but the body is of Christ.

Good morning Stephen. Good to see you. I wish you would return, I miss your truthful comments. I'd be honored if you would join us on my Bible Study on the Gospel of Matthew on the "Bible Study" forum. :hug

First of all, Chopper you are in my prayers and hope all is well with you as I stand in agreement with Reba's prayer for you.

1Cor 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

Mat 13:10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
Mat 13:11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

I believe the mystery of God is only to those who have no Spiritual relationship with Him. Just as Jesus spoke in parables so is the word of God like parables to those who have no wisdom or understanding. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth just by speaking it into existence. God created man from the dust of the earth and breathed life into him. It's through Gods spoken word that breathes Spiritual life into us by His Holy Spirit that reveals the mysteries of God to us as we draw even closer to Him.

Gods ways are not our ways and Gods thoughts are not our thoughts as our carnal mind stands in the way of that of receiving the Spiritual mind of Christ. Colossians 3:1 says if we are risen with Christ then seek those things which are from above as this will open the mystery of God to all who seek Him. God is love and that is the mystery so many fail to see.

O my Dear Sister. Thank you so very much for your prayers on my behalf. My Master Jesus the Son of God has called me back into spiritual warfare for, right now, three situations concerning folk who are members of this Forum. I say this Forum because it involves folk that you and I love very much.

Your prayers in the past have been so appreciated by me as I strive to examine God's Word closely so that I can teach Truth and not error. As of now, I need protection from the evil one as I enter, with the Holy Spirit of Jehovah, in this battle for His precious sheep. One has strayed away in rebellion, one is still not saved, and one is struggling against overwhelming odds of life and needs our Lord's relief.

Thank you for your truthful statements on the mystery, very good.

I love you Sister, you are an important force of good in my life, may God bless you with His joy and peace. :hug
