the Blessings of Matthew five. I want you to know that I'm experiencing my first love in a fresh way and He is comforting me.
The revelation of God to man is progressive, and is revealed by His names, His actions and his inspired communication and directives to man. Each name by which God is called reveals His personality, character and attributes. The first name God is revealed by is "El", The primary meaning is, "The Strong one", or "Strength". What does that first etymological name reveal? He creates. The Strong one created the Heavens and he earth.I wonder at the way God works.
Colossians 2:2
2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
The mystery of God:
1. God revealed himself first as.
Against sin:
Get out of the garden Genesis 3
Punishment of Cain Genesis 4
Flood Genesis 6
Changed language Genesis 11
Abram sent away from Pharaoh Genesis 12
Destruction of Sodom Genesis 18-19
Gave Law etc. - etc.
None of this was hidden in symbolism, but was open and apparent. God hated sin and would punish those who sinned.
2. Hidden in scripture (mystery), were the promises of a spiritual love that would happen in the future.
Then
John 3:16. KJV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The answer to the mystery revealed. No more symbols / types / shadows; God loves his created mankind enough to secure salvation (eternal life - forgiveness of sins for them).
Mystery solved in Christ Jesus.
A hidden part of God is love. Whatever it takes.
Rod staff whatever.
3. This love includes male, female, bond, free, Jew, Gentile, weak, strong, etc,
........
God still hates sin, but he has found a way to forgive sin and secure eternal life. The Holy Spirit has been sent to provide power to spread this good news / Gospel.

This is awesome, Chopper. I think you hit the proverbial nail on the head. The mystery is, and always will be, Christ. Keep in mind that we are looking back through the lens of history at Christ. Imagine you are Paul, a very well trained Pharisee. He knew the OT verbatim. He knew the laws. He knew the customs. He thought He knew God. Then he is confronted with Christ, and persecutes those who acknowledge this "new" God. THEN he meets Christ, and his eyes are opened! Wow! Now all the OT prophecies come alive! They were referring to Jesus! Prior to chapter 2 (no chapters in Paul's day - just a letter), Paul says the mystery was hidden for ages and generations, but is NOW revealed! And Paul is in love! He is filled with His Spirit!
Sadly, this "first love" is a far cry from what we see in many churches today. Like the church in Ephesus in Revelation 2, we are called out of our stupor, and back to our first love - the mystery that was hidden for so long, and is now revealed!
"What exactly is this mystery said:Hello Brother,
I would like to offer an idea for the "mystery". The Church here had a problem with false teachers that tried to say "YOU CAN FIND SALVATION YOURSELF"
Paul says the mystery of all God's word is that only GRACE can save, Yes it is Jesus, Grace of God in Jesus His Son to provide Salvation. EVERY ONE from Adam to us must be saved by Grace, in the OT and some in the NT did not know or understand this,
ALL SALVATION was always by Grace.
That is the mystery of truth forgotten or no longer understood. "NEW AGE" in the Church today is that old false teaching.
