I follow Jesus, not the Bible.

I almost hate my calling, sometimes! Classik, this explains every strange statement I have seen you make and I, now, understand why you cannot see that following the teaching of Joel as a Hell Bound Certainty. The FBI has it's Agents handle, to point of playing with it, Paper Money for a single reason. It is the same reason why the Military blindfolded me and I spent hours blindfolded taking my M1 Garand apart and putting it back together.

The FBI Agent can touch with his eyes closed or can see a bill in another hand and know if it is real or just paper with ink on both sides and I could pick a part up from somebody else disassembling the Rifle and by thed feel of it know, exactly, what was in my hand.

Jesus knew and knows His Adversary better than Satan knows himself and if you will read the words of Jesus, the God of the Jewish Bible, the Old Testament and the same God of the Commentaries, the New Testament, you will gain great wisdom and discernment because you will not be quenching the Holy Spirit.

Jesus left us with the Christian Bible that we would not and that we could not be fooled. You see, with Jesus promising us that Satan, former Angel of Light, would come to us as The Angel of Light, it is not wise, nor is it Eternally safe to ignore Paul conveying the message of Jesus to always (Acts 17:11) check anyone's message against the God delivered and God protected Message (Duet. 4:2 & Rev. 22:19) found in the scriptures.

The scriptures are, until the return of Jesus, after the Great Tribulation, to rule for a thousand years, ten centuries. Without the Scriptures to stand on one easily is fooled and found to be standing on the words of Satan, just as the people in Jonestown did, just as the people in Waco the burned to death with David Koresh and just as the Unrepented Homosexuals that are following Joel, his wife and his mama.

With the Truths of the Bible, the Word of God, one cannot be deceived y Satan, without it, one has no hope. Tough message but it will be wise to heed it.
I'm doing my best to understand your point.

The Word of God (Bible) is our 'cheat-sheet' to refer to, since all of mankind are slow learners, have poor memories... are in remedial spirituality 101. We just gotta have notes.

Praise the Lord for His patience and long-suffering with us!

The Bible is for all. For babes in Christ, so has plenty of milk. For more mature Christians, so has plenty of meat.

I do believe that, after one studies the scriptures enough and begins to mature in Christ... That they will be led to a door. This door is spiritually discerned and is, extra-biblical.

This does not in any way obsolete or lessen the significance of the Bible though.

You can only put so much into a book. It was said that, if all the things that Yeshua did, were written into books, that the world could not contain them all. (Something like that). The point being that, Jesus is bigger than the Bible, and He's done and said many things that were not written into the Bible.

We can't reject extra biblical truths about Jesus and His Kingdom based on, it's not in the Bible. The Bible has its purpose in giving us the Gospel message, milk and instruction for babes to be led to Christ. Past that, are issues for more mature Christians that are not salvific in nature, so didn't need to be recorded in scripture.

Again, in no way does that truth detract from the significance of the Bible. The Bible is essential and even crucial to us in our walk to learn truth, our Lord, and spiritual mores.

Test every Spirit. Seek confirmation of everything. Walk in the Spirit and in faith.

Te point is that Joel is an exciting speaker that speaks for the Devil and teaches the way into Hell, all the while pretending to lead you into Heaven and a relationship with Jesus and the Father. I have watched him to see if the reports are true and I have never seen him read from the Word of God. He holds it up, closed, and utters a pledge to it and the puts it away. He is teaching a false gospel, He is teaching worldly lies and I do not want a single person to go to Hell with him.

That is the poi nt.

Following Jesus without scripture leaves us open for an attack.. take Eve as an example...

II Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Well. I didn't know about this.

Now eager to know more about him.

You're exactly right, Brother, and that's the rub. We have to be careful and we have to test and confirm everything.

Test and confirm what? How? This gets me thinking. Do you mean s/he could be right about what s/he (the owner of the picture and inscription) claims?

Read this very carefully Classik .. Jesus and the Bible are not separate they are the same

Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Joh 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
Joh 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Not always but some times our good ol Classik post statements just for the shock or conversation..

I find it interesting the Westboro types say (by their attitudes and lives)... "I follow the Bible (selected verses, of course), not Jesus."

Yeah. I didn't agree with the follow-Jesus-and-not-the-bible stuff. The two are inseparable (and even in heaven some will apply)

I think many are OK with Jesus as a teacher, spiritual guru, etc....they just don't accept that He is the one way to The Father, nor do they want to actually hear what He has to say, much less apply it.

There are several tools for our well being in our walk in faith. The bible and the Holy Spirit are the bread and butter of it all though. A man who reads the bible and rejects it, or doesn't understand it so stays an atheist unfortunately does not have God's Counselor the Holy Spirit to help. But a person who speaks and understands only with their intuition, feelings, and what they think is spiritually leading them is also just as much in error, because they don't have the bible to lead them and to keep them safe from philosophies that are not from God. Because of this both being guided by God, and depending on the bible are important. They work together and never against one another.

That said this phrase, "I follow Jesus, not the bible." That sounds very simular to other kinds of accepting and rejecting that I think are in error. Like saying you accept the bible but not the church. However the bible also says as iron strengthens iron, one man strengthens another. And also the bible (I think more then once) says that the wise are those who have counsel instead of relying only on themselves. Even though trusting God and obeying Him is greater then trusting eachother, it does not mean our own counsel is not without merrit.

There are I'm sure many other gifts and help God gives us for our faith. But we should not discard one aspect such as doing good for long studying, or visa versa. Just in the end though. Let the bible be the standard to correct or confirm if what you have is from God or not.

Without the scriptures deception runs wild. If you know the scriptures you know who's preaching another gospel and another jesus and won't be deceived by modern wolves in sheep's clothing leading people to the pit.

Some people only know Jesus is good from there church nothing else.
I hope you all feeling good and having a great day .
I agree.

Yeah, really. They aren't the only ones either. I recently heard of another church that tells their people the words of Jesus don't apply to Christians today. (At least they aren't pulling off the same hateful antics of WBC.) I'm sure there are more out there too.
