It isn't a sin to eat.
And if you're fasting...or starving, you don't eat anyway.
"Fleshly" urges can be subdued by the mind.
Especially a mind focused on Christ.
Eating for survival seems to be necessary, lol. Scripture says take no thought for the morrow, what you will eat or drink...etc., but (I speak for Americans) who eats for survival?
I like Pizza. I like steak. I like certain ice cream. Apparently, lots of people have a problem with gluttony. I don't have that problem myself, I'm poor. Lol.
The reborn have no carnal mind.
It is written..."For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but
we have the mind of Christ." (
1 Cor 2:16)
I do not agree with this. I remember when I first got saved and born again. Mentally, I woke up the same person as I was yesterday but with a new focus in life. I still didn't know hardly anything about the Lord. So I opened up a Bible and figured it was a good place to start. And what did it tell me to do?
Romans 12:2
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.../
So how can the reborn
not have a carnal mind? Don't conform to this world, give that type of thinking up. And get transformed by the renewing of your mind...how do we do that?! We do that by reading the Bible. It tells all about God and as you read it it fills your mind then begins spilling over into your heart. Then one can do a good work for the Lord.
You know how sometimes when you read the bible a certain verse or passage will just jump off the page and speak to you deeply. (about something which has been on your heart)...?? That is called a Rhema and is God speaking to us while we read & meditate on it. That transforms us over time.
My heart pumps blood, and that is all it does.
The word "heart" can be interchanged with "mind", however.
If by "heart", you mean "mind".
So how can one out-anything the other?
Not according to my understanding. As it turns out, the teenage girls were right, lol. (We should follow our heart moreso than the reasoning mind).
The science says the heart contains the exact same kind of cells that the brain does, a lot of them. They used to think that the brain talks to the heart and all other parts of the body (tell it what to do) but now technology shows us that the heart is the (organ?) that talks back to the brain. In fact it talks more to the brain than the brain does to it.
When you have acquired knowledge, you can say, I know something. If you've been trained in it then you're probably right in what you know. But!
Have you ever said (or heard said), I know it in my heart. Or, I feel it in my heart?
Where's that come from if the heart don't think? People just decided to start saying that when the heart don't really think? Why not I feel it in foot ?
The thing is though (I believe) is that, the we say the heart thinks and it does think but not in the same way that the brain/carnal mind does. It's less words and more just perceiving. I know! Have you ever made a decision from the heart? I bet you have, Lol! Love your Wife eh? Never gave in and did that something special for your child, that if it weren't for them, you wouldn't have been out buying a 75 dollar Barbie castle or whatever, money's tight! But you did anyway. You Lover her. Your heart thought about it and gave you the nudge, buy it anyway!
Besides, Brother, why would scripture tell us to take every thought captive to Christ, if the born again had no carnal mind?
2 Corinthians 10:5
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
