That Grace may abound !
Is God the Cause of sin and evil in the world ? Yes, in order that Grace may abound !
Rom 5:20-21
20 Moreover
the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
21 That as sin hath reigned unto death
, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Thats why Adam received the Law from God's Mouth
Gen 2:17
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,
thou shalt not eat of it: for
in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
God Created this world for an Eternal Redemptive Purpose in Christ Jesus, in order that from the backdrop of sin and death, His Grace may abound and reign unto Eternal Life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Contrary to popular opinion, Eternal Life was never to be found in Adam, but always through Jesus Christ by way of Grace, in fact it was promised Him, Jesus Christ, as a Mediator and Surety before the World Began
Titus 1:1-2
Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;
2
In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
That this promise was first made to Christ is alluded to here by Paul
Gal 3:16
16 Now to Abraham and his seed were
the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many;
but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
And since to Him, His seed in Him also
Isa 53:10
10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin,
he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
The Promise of Eternal Life to Christ was typed out in King David in scriptures like
Ps 89:1-4;
28-36
I will sing of the mercies of the Lord for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.
2 For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens.
3
I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant,
4
Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. Selah.
28 My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.
29
His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
30 If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;
31 If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;
32 Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.
33 Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.
34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
35 Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David.
36
His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me.
Other NT scripture that indicates Eternal Life as a Promise through Christ
1 Jn 2:25;
5:10-12
25 And
this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
11
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
Before the World began God purposed salvation by Grace, and for the Praise of His Grace
Eph 1:3-6
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6
To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
Eph 2:1-7
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved )
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come
he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
Vs 7 being our focus. This Purpose of Grace from the backdrop of sin and death, was God's Eternal Purpose in Christ, that as sin reigned in death, even so Grace might also reign through Righteousness, culminating into Eternal Life [Promised before the ages began
Titus 1:2] through Jesus Christ our Lord !
