This question is asked because Jesus was clear about who shall never perish (die). Those He GIVES eternal life. John 10:28

From that verse, one can be very sure that never perishing is solely based on receiving the free gift of eternal life. No other condition is mentioned for never perishing.

One can be sure that receiving eternal life is conditional on a complete understanding, which is connected to verse 28, and is referred to today as verse 27.

27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. John 10:27-28

Here is who will come forth in the resurrection of life:

  • those who have done good, to the resurrection of life

28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. John 5:28-29

If anyone does not believe this to be true please explain why.

One only has to read verse 24 in context with what Jesus said through verse 28, to be able to rightly divide the word of truth, which shows us those who "hear" with the intent of doing what they "hear" and believes, which means obeys [continually] what they heard has eternal life, which is relationship with Him; ie being joined to Him or "in Him" which is summed up in verse 29.
Nope. There is nothing about continually doing anything. That has not been proven. Only claimed.

One can be sure that receiving eternal life is conditional on a complete understanding, which is connected to verse 28, and is referred to today as verse 27.
Actually, not. As has been shown repeatedly.

27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. John 10:27-28

JLB
It is quite obvious tht v.27 is a description of Jesus' sheep, NOT a condition for never perishing. The wording would HAVE TO BE much different if that was Jesus' message.

v.28 is what is called a stand alone FACT. It requires no further modification for understanding.

What is clear is that those Jesus gives eternal life will never perish. That's exactly what He said.

What He never said is: I give them eternal life and IF they continue to follow Me, they shall never perish.

It is quite clear that seems to be your view, but Jesus never said such a thing.

The basis for never perishing is found in receiving eternal life.

Only saved people receive eternal life. This means that all who have been saved have received eternal life, and on the basis of what Jesus said about recipients of eternal life, all saved people shall never perish.

Or, OSAS. Plain and simple.

No amount of spinning will change the fact.

Who receives eternal life? Believers, per v.24 - “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.

Also,
John 3:15,16 - 15 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.” 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 6:47 - Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life.

John 11:25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” 27 “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”

John 20:31 - But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

1 Tim 1:16 - But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.

If anyone does not believe this to be true please explain why.

Just did. :)

9 verses that tell us specifically that possessing eternal life is based on faith in Christ. Nothing else.

One only has to back up to v.24 in order to KNOW when one possesses the free gift of eternal life:
First, thanks for being theologically prepared to give an answer the OP’s question relative to Jesus’ teaching in John 5:28-29 that the resurrection of dead bodily life of those who have done good (and yes it’s a past tense English verb translation because of the Aorist tense in the original Greek) is eternal. That is, our resurrection bodies are raised by The Father to live eternally.

Do not be marveling- at this, because an hour is coming in which all the ones in the graves will hear His voice, and will come out— the ones having done the good things to a resurrection of life; the ones having practiced the bad things to a resurrection of judgment.
John 5:28-29 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=John 5:28-29&version=DLNT

Second question though is about the spirit/soul of those who now believe (a very good thing to do);
Isn’t it just as obviously true (from verses 25-27) that just as The Father will (at the resurrection) raise bodies eternally that The Son now is raising dead spirits eternally?

“Truly, truly, I say to you that an hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and the ones having heard will live. For just as the Father has life in Himself, so also He gave to the Son to have life in Himself. And He gave Him authority to execute judgment, because He is a son of man.

Yes. My belief is that the words "born again" and "regeneration" refer specifically to our dead human spirits, which occurs the moment one believes in Christ.

Therefore, our dead human spirit has been "raised eternally" or born again, or regenerated.

What did Jesus say about those who believe, from John 3:15,16,36, 5:24, 6:47, 11:25-27? They possess eternal life. Or do you disagree with what Jesus said about those who believe?

Second, Jesus said that recipients of eternal life (those He gives eternal life) shall never perish, from John 10:28. Why should anyone disagree that once given eternal life, the recipient will never perish?

Especially since Jesus said they shall never perish.

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

My sheep = those who are in Christ and He in them grounded in faith

Eternal life = Jesus gives eternal life to all who are in Him and He in them as long as they stand grounded in faith

Never perish = those in Christ and He in them at His coming as they stand grounded in faith

Any man pluck them out of my hand = If we are in Christ and He in us through faith then nothing can come against our faith and belief in Him

Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

None of us are saved yet as Christ has not returned yet, but only Spiritually born again and if we are not grounded in faith, which is Christ Jesus, than that of Romans 8:35-39 will separate you from the love of God. We are saved by Gods grace through faith and if we lose faith then we are no more none of His.

Matthew 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Many have and will continue to lose faith when persecutions and tribulations become to much for them as they do not stand grounded.

My sheep = those who are in Christ and He in them grounded in faith
Yes, key point is that they are His sheep on the basis of faith in Him. And all believers possess eternal life. And therefore, will never perish. John 10:28

Eternal life = Jesus gives eternal life to all who are in Him and He in them as long as they stand grounded in faith
A couple of points:

1. The Bible never says that Jesus gives eternal life to "all who are in Him and He in them". In fact, it doesn't even say "all who are in Him".

Eph 1:13 tells us plainly that those having believed are sealed IN HIM with the Holy Spirit. So, the WAY one becomes "in Him" is by having believed.

The tense (aorist) shows that there is no requirement for "as long as they stand grounded".

1. The Bible has NO verses with the condition of "as long as..." for salvation.

Never perish = those in Christ and He in them at His coming as they stand grounded in faith

Any man pluck them out of my hand = If we are in Christ and He in us through faith then nothing can come against our faith and belief in Him
v.28 says no such thing. It says He gives them (believers: John 3:15,16,36, 5:24, 6:47, 11:25-27) eternal life and they SHALL NEVER PERISH.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
v.38 says "neither things present nor things to come (future)". Know what that means? It means REGARDLESS of what occurs in the future, the believer remains secure.

None of us are saved yet as Christ has not returned yet, but only Spiritually born again and if we are not grounded in faith, which is Christ Jesus, than that of Romans 8:35-39 will separate you from the love of God. Of course one IS SAVED WHEN they believe. Your comment suggests that the believer is not yet saved. Where does the Bible make such a statement or suggestion??

Matthew 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Check the context. "to the end" specifically refers to the 7 year period called the Tribulation. This verse has no relevance to us today.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Many have and will continue to lose faith when persecutions and tribulations become to much for them as they do not stand grounded.
Yes, Rom 8:38 tells us that "neither things present nor things future" will separate us from God's love. And the believer is sealed with the Holy Spirit as a guarantee for the day of redemption (Eph 1:13,14) on the basis of HAVING BELIEVED (aorist tense).

Most certainly.

The context for these 2 verses is found in v.24, which is never provided in your posts. So it is clear that by "done good", Jesus obviously meant believe in Him from v.24.

There is no reason to even ask for such a ridiculous request. I've never suggested that anyone who has done evil will partake in the resurrection of life. So it's quite puzzling why the request was made.

I see nothing in what you wrote that pertains to the subject of the resurrection of life.

This is what He said about the resurrection of life.

Those who have “done good” are those who live by faith. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Philippians 2:13. Gods elect are fully assured and rest in the promises of God in Christ. Life eternal is in Christ! You can’t lose eternal life in Christ.. and to say you can means your answer to this OP is obviously no

Faith is Christ Jesus in whom we believe. If we quit believing we are no longer going to be given eternal life, but only that of damnation when Christ comes and calls all (saint and sinner) from their grave, John 5:28, 29.

Jesus gives eternal life to all who will believe in Him as He is our faith in whom we believe in.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

John 15: 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

John 10: 26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

1 John 2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. 24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. 25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise

We are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise as that promise is eternal life to all who by faith believe in Christ. Many have walked away from faith and no longer believe so they have not the promise anymore.

Colossians 1:23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

Faith is the requirement as long as we are not moved away from the hope of the gospel.

Go back to Ephesians 1:13 we are only sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise, but yet not saved as we have to endure all things until the end when Christ returns and then we are saved, Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Matthew 24:12, 13 to endure until the end means enduring everything from now today through that of the seventh trumpets and seven vial judgements as then the end will come when Christ returns on the last day after the tribulations that will take place in the world, John 6:40; John 5:28, 29. There is no pretrib rapture as all who are alive during the seven trumpets sounding and the seven vial judgements are sealed by the holy Spirit of promise that Gods wrath will not touch those who are His own and when all is finished the old heaven and earth will have passed away and a new heaven and earth will become new again and New Jerusalem will be ushered down from heaven and we who have endured will then have eternal life with the Father.
