Sure. "continually doing good". Who in the human race has done that?
No where in Romans 2:6-8 does the phrase sinless perfection appear.
His disciples, including Paul demonstrated the lifestyle Jesus intended us to walk in, as well as taught us how we are to live, which is by God's grace, the power of His Spirit given to those who believe.
- Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern.
11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself
His own special people, zealous for good works. Titus 2:11-14
the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us:
- denying ungodliness and worldly lusts
- we should live soberly
- righteously
- and godly in the present age
...that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and
purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
I believe Paul walked in this lifestyle.
Also explaining that those who live according to the sinful desires of the flesh, will have no part in the kingdom of God, on the Day of judgement.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told
you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21
- Those Christians who set their minds on the things of the flesh, to gratify it's lustful desires, will perish.
5 For
those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those
who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded
is death, but to be spiritually minded
is life and peace. Romans 8:5-6
17 Brethren,
join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern. 18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping,
that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19
whose end is destruction, whose god
is their belly, and
whose glory
is in their shame—
who set their mind on earthly things. Philippians 3:17-19
God has given us His Spirit, to empower us to walk according to the Spirit.
This requires an effort on our part, to turn away from ungodly, immoral things, and set our minds of things above, things that are holy, righteous, and pure.
As we are young in the Lord, we need Godly examples to follow, and learn how to be led by the Spirit, and not by the desires of the flesh.
- If we sin, then we confess our sin, and He is faithful to cleanse us of all unrighteousness.
As we grow older in the Lord, He expects more from us, than that of a baby Christian.
Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” 2 Timothy 2:19
- Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
