What? Are any of you really so callous that you would tell a small child the honest truth about the quality of his or her art work brought home for you to admire?

I disagree. I don't think that every lie is a sin and if it is, then we need to seriously change the words we use to describe events.Lying is a sin. Only you can determine when and when not to lie or whether to lie at all.
but if they really sucked, all your doing is withholding truth right? What's the difference between withholding the truth and not telling the truth? Either way, the truth is hidden right?Oh come on brother. You don't have to lie or be callous. All you'd have to do is say good effort little guy, keep practicing! Something like that.

Classik! haha!Evelyn was scolding her child about lying to her.... The phone rang she told the other child "tell them i am not here" ..
then she caught my raised eyebrow :neutral
Would that we all could carry around a "spiritual" mirror every day.Evelyn was scolding her child about lying to her.... The phone rang she told the other child "tell them i am not here" ..
then she caught my raised eyebrow :neutral
Do as I say, not as I do.Evelyn was scolding her child about lying to her.... The phone rang she told the other child "tell them i am not here" ..

Hate to admit it, but that is scriptural.Do as I say, not as I do.
I disagree. I don't think that every lie is a sin...
By way of example: Tell me why something is a sin (How it hurts another), don't just say, "It's a sin" because I've categorized it as a sin.
I see, and what constitutes a lie? Here's your example.
John 8
43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word.
44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
