What of Christ's demeanor?
Matt.23
What say you?
Yes, I believe so.Ryan, that's some rich stuff. I'll have to look into that. So if Christ means anointed one, then the false religious leaders were claiming to be the anointed leaders. 'Many will come in my Name saying 'I am the Christ'.' Matt.24:5. 'Many will come in my name saying 'I am anointed'.' My trans. Am I on the right track here? Makes sense.
Yeah! Serves them right! Doesn't it?The Pharisees didn't understand the God that Jesus was praying too. Maybe they do now....in hell.
It is the chi xi stigma in the Greek. Hebrew thinking is to look at a word, and break it down to see its function versus Greek thought of giving it form or appearance. Kinda like breaking down an engine into parts and putting it back together again. When you break down the χξϛ what you have is the χ and the ϛ as being the first and last letter in Christ. But what is more interesting is the ξ, is a picture of a coiled up serpent. So tying it in to the above verses about the Pharisees, you are looking at one who has the appearance of being righteous, but the inside they are likened to what?
I believe verses 4 and 5 speak to the Pharisees of our day, and 20 verses later speak to the false christs. IMO, satans little helpers are none other then some of the outlandish preachers of our time who are dressed in sheeps clothing. Pharisees in Jesus's day, Pharisees in our day.

I think this chapter speaks volumes to all of us. We ought to be careful about filling ourselves up with pride and self righteousness. As Jesus tells us in Mark 9, "35 And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all."

Could you please explain further. In Matthew 23, I'm not hearing this, in what Jesus was saying to the people about the Pharisees?
Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
2 Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

remember that until the cross the Pharisees were also the Sanhedrin for the most part these were the priests and they taught the law and also ministered unto the lord. jesus was saying when you do the feasts and shabat do them as only moses commanded and any rabbinical addition that wasn't overburdensome.
remember that the Pharisees made the law go where it wasn't meant to go.
